Alex and Sandy are two normal guys just trying to get through college―until their troublemaking hamster, Echiboo, gets them thrown out of their dorm. With nowhere else to turn, the boys move into an anime clubhouse where five crazed yaoi fangirls call the shots! Elle's obsessively high-strung, Nina's too laid back for her own good, Jessica's a total tease, Maria's a shy and reserved bookworm, and Morgan's just plain bonkers! Toss 'em all together and you've got a harem comedy that's truly like none other! Seven Seas is pleased to present this omnibus edition which contains Volumes 1 and 2 of Aoi House in one affordable collection!
The first time I read this book, years ago, I hadn’t seen that many anime yet, so there were a lot of references and in-jokes I didn’t understand. I still enjoyed the goofiness of it all, though, and I don’t mind a panty shot here or there. The second time around I was able to appreciate the humour a bit more, because I’m now more acquainted with the anime/manga scene and could recognise almost all of the titles that were being referenced. However, I was a little miffed by the cheap “oh my god it’s a transvestite” jokes surrounding Carlo, especially the scene where “the straight guy has to go on a date with the transvestite because he lost a bet”. Firstly, it’s been done to death and secondly, it’s insensitive.
If you enjoy half-naked ladies, anime references and “oops I tripped and my mouth accidentally fell on your face” humour, this is quite a nice read.
Utter trash but like in a the hamster is cute and I've ready gotten this far might as well finish it up kinda way. The plot was all but nonexistent, but then again, does one really expect a plot from a purely fanservice type of series as this? Not at all. My main issue is with the one trans character whom the writer clearly had written for comical purposes thinking transwomen are repulsive, overdramatic, and worthy of insult. Definitely would not reccomend and honestly you can find better trash that'll be a lot more fun than this.
This was super cute! Saw it on the shelf at my shop and decided to give it a try. Two guys get kicked out of their dorm room. Needing a place to live, they look for clubs to join. When they find an anime club at the AOI house! Perfect for two anime loving young men! They arrive to see the house is full of girls! And find out that AOI is actually supposed to be YAOI but the Y fell off! Hilarious! These yaoi obsessed girls accept the boys into their club and hilarity ensues. A crush(or two) form. A mysterious person calls the shots from behind the scenes. Friendships grow. Rivalries begin. And just all around funny happenings. It's cute and goofy. And I enjoyed it a lot. Definitely an easy read if you just need a little fun in your life. Though that ending gets my romantic heart thumping. Can't wait for more!
Brutally funny and heartfelt, Adam Arnold's "Aoi House" is a Manga that will make you laugh and cry at the same time. This book has it all, from Yaoi obsessed fangirls, to a panty stealing hamster, plus allusions to "Rocky Horror" "Star Wars" and "Final Fantasy VII" this is a fanboy's dream. The only bad thing is that it ended. I loved this manga immensely!
Boyfriend got me to read the omnibus and I love them.
Two boys get kicked out of the location on campus they're living and find a flyer for an anime club that turns out to be quite a bit different than what they're expecting. Lots of fun, friendship, and HILARIOUS! I haven't laughed this much at some Manga in some time.
One of my anime teens lent this to me and begged me to read it. It's cute, funny and chocked full of fanservice and inside jokes. If you are in the mood for fluff, check it out. And the panty stealing hamster is just adorable.
