This one as just waaaaay too depressing for me and just not my cup of tea at all. It's not often I delete a book but this one is not a keeper for me.

A look into Miles and Alley from Irrevocable. This is only the beginning to their story, I need so much more. I read Irrevocable so long ago, I wished I had read this one right after, I had forgotten most of the characters. But I've always wanted a story for Miles. A full length novel would be great. Hint. Hint. Hint. This was part of an anthology, so it's novella sized goodness.
Miles born into slavery has fought his way to a high level of human trafficking and other devious trades. Alley sparks his interest, he claimed her as "his." But can he protect her from unseen villains?
I can’t promise you the world. No sandy beaches, white gowns, or happily ever after’s. But I’ll give you my bed and my protection, and I’ll try my damnedest to make you forget everything else.”
Alley a slave for years, taken at 16, she has endured years of abuse and slavery. Can she let her guard down for another Master? She anxiously awaits to be thrown back into the den with the wolves.

Very good short dark read! I really enjoyed reading Insurmountable by Skye Callahan. It is part of the Irrevocable series which I have read the first one in the series as well. This can be read as a standalone with no problems for it has been almost a year since i read book 1 in the series and I had forgotten that I had and as I read this one I kept getting the feeling that I know these characters which it came to me later on and was like "oh yeah, I loved the first book and oh wow this is Miles and Alley's story!"
*Note I am reading this as part of the Hearts & Daggers Anthology and am really enjoying the anthology!

I was given this arc for an honest review and I loved this book. Skye Callahan never disappoints.
If you read the Irrevocable series you already know Miles and Alley. This is a wonderful novella telling us the story of how they got together before Irrevocable started. I was so taken in by their story I found myself wanting more when I finished the book.
This can be read as a stand alone however the Irrevocable series is so good I recommend you read that then follow up with Insurmountable.

I absolutely love especially the first book of this series! And although I could have done with even more James in this novella, I was more than eager to find out more about Miles and Alley, who played a huge part in the other two books as well. As much as I liked them as side characters already, my love for them only grew – and I was sad to see their story end so quickly; I would have loved some more overlapping into the timeline of the other two books as well as how they deal with everything that goes down there. I would not even mind if they got another full length novel.
Despite being born into slavery he fought his way up the ladder. Now he occupies a leading position in sex trafficking himself. But believe it or not, there is much more to him than meets the eye.
When he meets Alley, a girl who has been in the trade for eight long years now, something about her draws him in and without further ado he claims her as his own, willing to protect her at all costs. But in order to do that he has to gain Alley’s trust, which is not easy, as the girl has suffered so much as slave already and is used to being tossed away when another Master gets bored of her…
This novella is another reason why I love Skye Callahan. Her dark romances always captivate me. Her writing, the characters, the overall storyline. Definitely a recommendation for all who love the darker side of romance!

Considering the book is short I do not have super much to say about it. I liked it and it was interesting to read Alley and Miles meeting and their own twisted version of a love story. It was also bittersweet since I knew what both of their futures held having read the two previous books.
Since the book was short there were of course less depth and suspense compared to the first book, but that was to be expected and I was more into the romance anyway. And it still managed to have an impactful plot with the bullying and darker theme. What I liked most was how sweet the relationship was despite the situation and environment they were in, so much so that I wish I could erase Miles and Alley’s ending in previous books and write a much happier one for them. A book definitely worth four stars.

This was a short novella about two of the supporting characters from the first book, Miles and Ally. I'm not usually a novella reader because they're too short and I like to get more in depth with my reading but it felt fitting to get a little background on their story after reading the first two books. There were a couple of things that distracted me besides it being so short, the fact that I knew Ally was dead and so they did not get a HEA. It was nice getting a glimpse into their world and getting Connected with them a little deeper, I enjoyed their dialogue, and the story definitely had some good erotica.

I loved this book couldn't put it down. This is Miles & Alleys story of how she became his personal slave. While staying with him Miles tried to make her feel confortable by getting her things that she needed. Miles also wanted to make his security a lot stronger to protect the girls so that's when he offers a job to Kirk to help him out.

I loved Miles and Alley’s story. Right from the beginning I could see that protective side of Miles as soon as he saw her. Although Miles had his more forceful side, the softer side that he showed Alley just melted me, I loved getting to know their relationship and I so wanted more! More of their history and more of their time together.

Since Ally was 16 yrs old she has been a sex slave. Being moved from place to place. But, it's all the same thing. She must do what she's told. Now, she's in a new place but it's not the same as all the others.
Miles lost his mother when he was ten. She couldn't handle it so she took her own life. Miles learned everything he could. He could've ended up as a slave himself. But, instead he's high up in the organization. His boss never lets him forget his place. When the new set of girls come in. He sees something in Ally's eyes that remind him of his mom. When one of the clients attacks her he makes it his mission to protect her. His Little Dove.
Miles will do anything to keep her safe. He makes Ally into his personal slave. Except when they're alone he doesn't treat her as his slave only in public with eyes on them. Ally knows not to trust Miles and to be prepared that everything could be taken away in the blink of an eye. But, Miles is proving that that isn't the case.
Miles and Ally start feeling things for each other that they've never felt before. They can talk to each other about everything. But, it's never easy. Skye does not disappoint in this prequel to the Irrevocable Duet!!
Ally and Miles' story is sweet and intense. Two people finding solace and peace in the darkest of places made for an amazing story. Loved it!!

We get Miles and Alley's backstory here and it's a bittersweet one. As usual, there's light with the dark. A great addition to the Irrevocable duet!
