Nickelodeon's first original movie spins off "Good Burger", the most popular comedy sketch on the hit show All That. Set in a burger joint, it stars Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson (from the series), who play two lovable but clueless employees of the world's most mediocre hamburger joint--Good Burger. This novelization will capture all the antics as they take on their fierce competitor, Mega Burger - Guest appearances by Shaquille O'Neal and Sinbad
- All That is #1 with Nickelodeon viewers ages 6-11.
- Kenan and Kel, a spin-off show from All That, Launched in fall '96. They will also be Kid's Choice spokespersons on 10 million boxes of Post Cereal.
SO happy I read the novel before I saw the film. Nothing against the movie (perhaps the biggest Oscar snub of all time), but the overarching theme of "friendship can save small businesses" is much stronger in Mr. Locke's narration. He is able to dive deep into Dexter's troubled past and show a side of Sinbad not portrayed in the movie - a sensitive, non-traditional father figure struggling to find his way in a society and work culture driven by traditional masculinity.
We all have a "Mondo Burger" challenging us in our own lives. This novel shows us - through the motifs of fast food burgers and Lori Beth Denberg - that there is still hope in the world for small, ungentrified communities to survive. I give this book 5 out of 5 iCarlys.
I love good burger, it's about a teen who is on summer vacation and accidentally crashes his moms car into his teachers Volvo, and Dexter has to pay a lot of money to get his teachers car fixed so he gets a job at good burger(home of the good burger). A rival burger restaurant by the name of mondo burger wants to shut down good burger so a dim witted teen named Ed builds a sauce which make the burgers tasty and good burger makes a lot of money but then Kurt the manager of mondo burger buts a poison in the sauce that will make people sick so Ed and Dexter can't stop him because Kurt brought them both to prison so Ed and Dexter have to break out to space good burger from ever being closed. Will they be too late, will good burger be closed, will I stop asking questions?!?!?! Find out in good burger the book!
Good Burger stars Kel Mitchell, Kenan Thompson, and Sinbad, plus Shaq as himself, and guest starring Carmen Elektra!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bone chilling, spine tingling. Mr. Locke has perfected the art of prose that both makes the reader feel the feelings of our heroes, and detest the pompous and soulless vermin at Mondo Burger.
Sun Tzu once said "the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself."
Locke has provided a masterclass in this maxim, with the hubris of Mondo Burger caused by its big-shot status ultimately leading to its demise at the hands of Good Burger. Truly a book that questions the Nietzschean questioning of good and evil. A book which goes beyond 'beyond good and evil' with a defiantly status-quo story of the plucky, yet united Good Burger ultimately triumphing over the excesses of profit-driven capitalism.
Roger Ebert says with his reviews he rated movies based on what they are, so a thumbs up to a super hero movie doesn't mean it is good compared to Citizen Kane, it means it is good compared to Ghost Rider. In that vein, this is a pretty good book.
The opening/first chapter you could tell was a play by play of a movie and not so much a book. But after that it really didn't feel too bad any more. There were some times when the gags or sound effects, though, were spot on to 1990s Nickelodeon gags. I knew exactly what was happening in the movie. And I never really thought about how succinct the voice was in Nickelodeon stuff, but there was one point when a character walked in and started talking, and I would put money on it being Lori Beth Denberg. (I never saw the movie. But now that I read the book, and saw it was entertaining, I might check it out on Netflix.)
Ed and Dexter are two friends who work at a fast food restaurant called Good Burger. In actuality Ed tries to talk to Dexter but Dexter just ignores him and goes on with his work. One day a new fast food restaurant opens up across the street called Mondo Burger(competiton). Thats when Ed makes a new sauce and it puts Mondo Burger in check.
Mondo Burger's Burgers are so huge. They look like they're on steroids. Thats when Ed and Dexter destroy Mondo Burger by its business so they could be the best fast food restaurant in the are. This book also has a movie and its way better than the book. Not because I'm watching instead of reading but because you could understand the book better in a whole new way.
I really like the book the Goood Burger its really good I think the arthur Joseph Locke did a good job. The main characters Ed and Dexter work at Good Burger but Good Burgers in trouble Because Mondo burgers opening across the street. And they stole Eds secret sauce. But Ed and Dexter aren't gonna take it. So they go under cover into Mondo Burger and find they put posion in the burgers. When Ed and Dexter try to say something They get tookin to a crazy place. So Good Burger about to get shut down. But Ed and Dexter break out and save Good Burger. And Mondo Burger gets shut down because the police find the posion in the Mondo Burgers. So then everyone goes to Good Burger.
I thought this book was totally awesome. Why? Because it was just like my favorite movie, Good Burger, and the characters of Keenan and Kel were HILARIOUS! I most definantly would tell friends about this book.. =]
You might ask, "How could it be better than the movie?" Dare I say, the novelization of Good Burger makes the film seem almost childish by comparison. A tour de force.
This book is good for a fast and easy read for a elementary or middle school child. It has lots of action and has a movie and a second book. This book is by Nickelodeon and has 160 pages.
