About the author

Howard Barker is an English playwright. His plays have been produced at the Royal Court, the RSC and the National Theatre, throughout Europe and the USA and by his own company, The Wrestling School. He is best known as the exponent of the Theatre of Catastrophe. He is a theatre theorist, a poet and a painter. His work has been the subject of a number of book-length studies and academic conferences.

Tive a oportunidade de interpretar um fração muito muito pequena de um monólogo do inicio desta peça no último espetáculo em que participei com o Teatro do Estudantes da Universidade de Coimbra (TEUC) depois de o já ter lido há uns largos meses com a mesma pessoa que mo deu para interpretar. É um texto que leva seriamente a parte dramática (hehe), é um texto muito sério, muito denso de um humor muito negro e extremamente inteligente.

Não sentes nada=Não digas nada/Sentes um turbilhão= fica com ele no estômago

Bom, eu não sou a primeira pessoa para falar de textos dramáticos porque nem sequer tenho o hábito de os ler por ócio, não que isto invalide por todo a minha opinião sobre esta obra.Acho que acima de tudo é um texto muito complexo, flexivel e atual e otimo tanto para ler com sofá e café ou para trabalhar durante quatro horas minimo por dia durante dois meses :)

Even as a person who thinks that theatre is the place of words I found Judith ( the only one I tried to read) turgid and self indulgent, far too static, harking back very much to what my tutors say was the original form of theatre. It was a DNF for me.
