I stumbled upon this amazing book when doing a quick search for books on succession planning. Finished reading the book in two days because it is so well written. Not only does the author simplify and break down SP techniques but does so by providing real world examples of methods used in top companies and top HR professionals. Being a HR professional myself, this is reassuring. The advice provided is practical and steps to implement a good SP system are sequential. A book that actually provides you a step by step procedure to implement a SP system in your organisation. Thank you so much Michael Timms and please continue to assist professionals such as myself who require simple advice and solutions to business problems.
The other books on succession planning I’ve read have been really boring and not that useful. This one was pretty good given the nature of the topic. It is focused on succession planning at every level of the organization rather than just succession planning for the top leader (which is more what I'm looking for right now). It definitely shifted my view of how to approach leadership development within the company. I now see leadership as an essential part of creating an organization that lasts.
