Of all the things for me to say, I wish this focused more on Mera and Arther's relationship. The action is great and all, but Mera plays with Arther in interesting ways, and it seems like its being a bit under-developed so that the explosions can take center stage.

Very predictable “misunderstood superhero vs. big mean government” type story. You know the type. I’m only giving it 3 stars because I love how orange and green look together on a costume.

i was finger's breadth away from dropping this series and in 2 back to back issues the pace of the story and action has picked up .

Aquaman and Mera start their escape from the US govt wrecking havoc all through the issue showing how powerful this aquatic power couple is , making sure the readers know that they are not the mocking fish beings many old perceptions still hold them to be . All through this the Brains behind N.E.M.O is revealed a recently made ally turns up at the lighthouse with possibly something to help Arthur curry and in the end a big plot hole appears

Besides that little plot hole it was an exciting issue which managed to create buzz for the next issue

The writing or art hasn't improved it remains average to good, but yet because of the very simple plot of this issue, Aquaman and Mera plowing thru the U.S. Army, trying to get to the ocean for the entire issue, it was action packed.
Plus I was listening to Rock music, which I don't do much when reading, which made this a bad ass comic.

Another good issue and aquaman is hitting a firm stride. I'm sure with Black Mantra flipping loyalties so easily but too early to tell.

After escaping custody by Homeland Security, Aquaman and Mera run a gauntlet of military forces determined to take them down at all costs. But just as they’re about to reach freedom, a new obstacle appears.

To say this is just an all-out action issue is kind of an understatement. The issue focuses almost exclusively on Aquaman and Mera punching their way through squad after squad of the US military. I know they’re superheroes, but it all seems a little far-fetched this time. We do get a few cutaways of Tula in Atlantis and Black Manta dealing with NEMO, but they’re pretty much relegated to single pages. The intensity is kept pretty high, but it amounts to little more than an exaggerated slugfest.

The art is pretty standard, though there are a few outstanding panels throughout the issue. Every so often Briones draws a face that just seems a little out of proportion or skewed and it bothers me. Most of the time he’s fine, if a bit bland.

Certainly the weakest issue of the run so far, but not so terrible as to make you stop reading. Just feels like some padding to push this story out to six parts.

Arthur and Mera are so fascinating. As always, love the way this play with global politics, cautiously optimistic about that final splash page.
