The finale in the Love is a Gentle Stranger series by June Masters Bacher was better than book 4 but not as good as the first three novels. It was a relief to be back in the oregon valley once again in contrast to the Atlanta and boston settings of Love Leads Home. All the familiar characters from the first three books: O'Higgins, Mrs. Malone, Aunt Chrissy, Uncle Will, Young Will are back in this finale. However the conversations of the mountain people, the Scots and the Appalachians. it just gets confusing.
All that aside, spiritual lessons are abundant. Listening for god's volice, following God's will overthrowing prejudices and assumptions to build the kingdom and overcoming the circumstances of one's past are dominant themes in this book.

Honestly? I hated it. While the writing was good, the subject matter turned my stomach and didn't seem to tie in with the rest of the series at all. I only finished it out of sheer stubbornness.
