Though lacking much authentic Welsh blood, Kim Lawrence comes from English-Irish stock. She was born and brought up in North Wales. She returned there when she married, and her sons were both born on Anglesey, an island off the coast. Though not isolated, Anglesey is a little off the beaten track, but lively Dublin, which Kim loves, is only a short ferry ride away. Today they live on the farm her husband was brought up on. Welsh is the first language of many people in this area and Kim's husband and sons are all bilingual she is having a lot of fun, not to mention a few headaches, trying to learn the language! She is a keen gardener and cook and enjoys running often on the beach, as living on an island the sea is never very far away. She is usually accompanied by her Jack Russell, Sprout don't ask, it's long story!

With small children, the unsocial hours of nursing didn't look attractive so encouraged by a husband who thinks she can do anything she sets her mind to, Kim tried her hand at writing. Always a keen Mills & Boon reader, it seemed natural for her to write a romance novel. In 1995, she published her first novels and now she can't imagine doing anything else.

H/h married 7 years before and never saw each other again. Now heroine wants to marry a dry stick (and friend of the hero’s) and hero wants to marry a demure Greek girl.

They both have a poor opinion of the other since they each married for money, but never disclosed their altruistic reasons for such money-grubbing.

H/h are rude to each other. Hero thinks the heroine doesn’t love her fiancé and feels he must stop the engagement. Heroine is angry she is sexually attracted to the hero. They bicker constantly.

The only action was the heroine’s flat catching on fire and both the H/h running in to rescue the cat. This lasted chapters – including their stay in the hotel suite where they had sex. Hero made sure fiancé caught them in bed together.

Why yes, this is tacky. And heroine is not only strident, but a cheater.

Anyhow, heroine is pregnant and isn’t sure if the hero is marrying her for the baby or for love for the last black moment.

*sigh*

This author rarely works for me.

Paperback-
Marriage of convenience, 7 years apart, she is engaged and plans to marry another man and he aims to marry girlfriend who is Greek. They need to get a divorce. The reunion between them is explosive. I liked the dialogues between the two and enjoyed reading.

I like a strong heroine, but sometimes authors make the mistake of thinking this means she should mouth off. Or show us her strength by being utterly, horribly rude. So this book was spoiled for me by the mouthy, annoying heroine.

Oddly disjointed. 25 yr old engaged virginal heroine cheats on her fiancé with her MOC husband (fiance's close friend) rather than break up first. Virginal yet highly immoral heroines are not impressive...clearly a virgin for formulaic reasons.

Most of the romance in this story takes place in a 24 hour window. Marriage of Convenience for money...however, neither were marrying for personal financial gain.

7 years prior the h and H married in a civil ceremony. They showed up, met, and after the ceremony parted ways immediately keeping their marriage secret.

The heroine is ready to marry for real and has decided to secure a divorce, whilst the Hero has decided to marry a Greek girl to produce babies(not a love match) .

Here come the Spoilers!!!!!!!

Heroine(Katerina)is a 25 year old virgin engaged to nice, safe Tom. She has convinced herself that she loves him(maybe) even though Tom has expectations that do not take the h’s personality in consideration. He is not bad for an om but he’s the vanilla at the ice cream store of life. It’s good, reliable, and satisfying but it’s not Rocky Road. The om is unaware that his fiancé is married. OR that she is married to his university friend(oops h doesn’t know either) So, the H(Nikos)is in town and they all go out to dinner together. The H knows ahead of time that Tom, the om is engaged to his wife before the evening begins. Meanwhile the h squirms in her seat and keeps sparring(to the embarrassment of Tom) with the H. The OM is called away to an emergency business meeting, leaving the h to the Hero. This is where most of the story takes place....

Nikos feels the h is a money grubbing gal and he will make sure she doesn’t marry the OM. They play a cat and mouse game with each other, sparring back and forth. Meanwhile the sexual chemistry is kept in check while a firestorm of is brewing beneath.

Quickly: 24 hours and most of the book

Restaurant - sparring, bickering

Car to h’s house- more back and forth
h’s apartment is on fire...she runs in to rescue cat(funny misunderstanding that H believes she’s rescuing a Secret love child) H pulls her out of burning building, and goes in himself to rescue cat, there is an explosion and h starts to go in after him...phew H is alive and so is cat! But Katie has sprained her ankle(opportunities to carry h now!)

Hospital to get checked out they do some more sparring. h plans to leave H , but alas she has no clothes money etc...H suggests she stay at his suite🤞🏼

Hotel suite and fluffy white robes....there are several opportunities to here for the love connection!

Bathroom (❌) more sparring
Bedroom with connecting door(❌) more sparring
Midnight dinner with ankle leg massage. Both want it, it’s evident, but they go to the separate bedrooms ❌
Pacing back and forth in rooms, light on❌

h has bad dream/shock over fire and loss of personal mementos...H hears her.....goes to her......holds her.....and here we go✅✅😉They get their groove on and I found the whole scene to be funny and sexy. H discovers h is innocent, he tells her he has wanted to to do this since he first saw her, and she was like oh you have wanted to go this all night? And he is like, No, I have wanted to do this for 7 years...(seems that although their meeting was brief it was memorable for both of them). This first case and coming together doesn’t happen til chapter 9(out of 13)

h wakes up a sated woman, and H comes in baring coffee and reserve...there is a knock at the door...the H tells housekeeping to come in and he gets back in bed to snuggle with h...she’s ready...only to look up and see Tom standing there....🤭She is angry that the H would be so cruel to set Tom up for this(because he did) she also believes that their loving was just a huge seduction to break up the h and om...H leaves telling her if he goes that’s it...she’s like Buh-bye

A few weeks later...divorce papers are readied and the stepmother of the H shows up at the h’s work. She’s actually a decent, good sm and she convinces h to help her get the H not to marry the ow that we never meet in the story. The h decides to go because she has news for the H.... 👶 🍼...They are helicoptered in to the yacht where there is a huge party...H and h see each other across the crowded room where they proceed to eat each other’s faces(he thinks she is not real at first) the party guests stop and watch...so they take it to the study. H wonders where Tom is( you see he felt bad and convinced Tom to give h another chance) h is like how can I be with him after what we did? Still no declarations of love because we are still unsure how the other one feels BUT pregnancy and wedding are a go ....a few pages later declarations are made and it’s love all around...

The burning question is....Where is the cat???

Some reviewers did not like the back and forth between the h and H but I found their interactions loaded and comical at times!

The MCs entered into a MOC seven years prior and have never seen each other since. Both are in relationships that are serious and leading to marriage which means they need to get divorced. The h starts divorce proceedings and lo and behold, meets her husband at a dinner date with her fiance. Turns out her fiance and husband were friends from college. The husband decided to attend dinner to check if his friend's fiancee and his wife were one and the same. Despite the fact that he has a gf in the wings, he spends dinner antagonizing the h as if she's a duplicitous hoe. This leads to a fire at her apartment situation and then a night of them succumbing to their sexual attraction.

What I didn't like is that 90% of this book is the events I've described above. Almost the entirety of the book is the less than 24 hours they spend together when they're reunited for the first time in seven years. They were complete strangers prior to their marriage and afterwards also. They spend their entire 24 hours together arguing. Can you imagine what a book about one day in a couple's life is like? That's what the pace and dialogue was for this book. Fine but not my cup of tea. I like more development.

*I usually don't care for cheating and that's what both MCs did when they slept together but their cheating didn't bother me that much. The h didn't have a physical relationship with her fiance; we don't know but can assume the H was intimate with his gf. They were married after all...so the moral ground is shaky but wasn't a huge turn off for me.

It's super adorbsssss.. I hate the cheating part.. The fact that h engaged to another man while still legally married to H, although they never love each other or even know one another to begin with, still.. and she basically cheated on her fiancé with her husband.. ridiculous I know but despite that, I love this book. Light and cute. I found myself laughing at some parts and I was eager to know more about the story, couldn't stop myself from flipping the pages. I think one of my fav hp stories.

The Greek Tycoons Wife

They had met seven years ago and married. And she has not seen him since that day. Now she is engaged and needs to get out of the relationship. He has decided that he is finally ready to settle down. Now he needs to end the marriage. But things don't happen that easy when he thinks she is after another person money. This was a comedy of errors. No communication. But what do you expect when you marry a total stranger?.

If you are seeking this novel for the groveling hero trope ... keep your hands off this one.

There were many reasons why I did not like it (based on the fact that I chose it for the grovel)

First of all: There were no groveling in the story and the hero, despite being a jerk, was forgiven too quickly.

Secondly: It was obvious that the hero was given a sympathetic background story to make him more likable and acceptable. While it is not uncommon, the story relied too heavily on this premise to justify his character. I would argue that if the story and character was well-written and the character well developed, then were would be no need for the tragic backstory, particularly for the heavy focus.

Third: The terrible communication

Parts were 4 stars but cheating and animosity kept it 3.

Reread because I often like this author better on reread. Cannot say this story improves on reread. In fact I like it less and less.

The h isn’t sure about her fiancé but still has not told him she is married. She’s cheating all three of them by getting engaged while silently married. Not an admirable lady.
