Searching for Me

People looking at my life would think 'wow she's so lucky' but I'm far from it. Five years ago my entire world changed. The older I get the more I start to think that maybe what I know about my family is all an illusion. Maybe the family business isn't just what it looks like on the outside, but the cause for my devastation when I was sixteen. I never thought five years later my world would start to unravel around me. Some parts amazing, other parts a nightmare. The amazing part was hard to let in. He was everything I wasn't looking for but turned out to be everything I needed and more. The nightmare was... well let's just say a nightmare. Something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. I knew I would need to fight with everything that I had to make the nightmare go away. My name is Gabriella Ashford and this is my story.

18+ WARNING contains bad language, violence and some explicit sex scenes.

This was an absolutely brilliant read. How would I feel if I saw my parents murdered. WOW no one knows how this would affect is, we have some idea, but, what about at a young age? There is no good age to loose your parents, and no good circumstances either, but murder???

And what if you witnessed it?

She was at home when this happened, but no one knew, and as long as no one knew, she was safe.

As time goes on and she turns 21 years old her Uncle throws a party for her and this is where she meets a hunk of a guy.

Shes attracted to him for all kinds of reasons, but he seems to be a bit of a player.

Also she discovers her Uncle is involved with some "shady dealings" and things come to light.

Gabriella is one feisty young thing, although sometimes she comes across a bit inexperienced in some places.

I really loved this story. It had depth and meaning to it much MUCH more than the blurb gives away.

I would definitely ONE CLICK.

In Kaydee Mavericks’ SEARCHING FOR ME, we have the story of Gabriella – a twenty-one year old whose parents were killed, as she watched silently, five years ago. She believes that her family’s business is a front for a different type of business, and feels that that was what got her parents killed. Their murders have gone unsolved, and the police have chalked it up to a home invasion gone wrong – which Gabriella does not believe is the case.

Since then, she’s been living with her aunt and uncle. Her uncle loves to throw parties, and while Gabriella would rather just go out with her friend, Kaci, she knows she has to make an appearance at her birthday bash. Before leaving for the night is when she first sees him…

Standing with her uncle and her uncle’s friend John is a good looking guy – one who Gabriella immediately dubs a man-whore. The good looking guy is John’s son, Kaleb. After fumbling through a nervous introduction, Gabriella and Kaci go to the club as previously planned – where Kaleb also ends up.

My problem with Gabriella was she was very good about judging by appearances. After a Google search of Kaleb, she found that John had been married to a late actress and therefore Kaleb was part of the Hollywood scene; he was in numerous pictures with different women, and that further had him a man-whore in her opinion. Later, yet again she jumps to conclusions and blames Kale for something he didn’t do.

I also found her to be rude – when seeing Kaleb another time, she said some snarky, off-handed comment about how her night had been ok until she’d seen some man-whore all over another woman (to which Kaleb cornily replied that maybe that man-whore had only been with that other woman because he couldn’t be with Gabriella).

All in all, this was a likeable book. It’s another one of those quick and easy reads based off of the way it is written; the style written wasn’t my favorite and I personally found the dialogue to be lacking, but again, all in all, it was a likeable book. Those looking for an easier New Adult aged suspense will find themselves enjoying this story!

Searching For Me by Kaydee Mavericks is a riveting tale of a woman who has been through much more than she would like to admit. Witnessing her parents being murdered brought a rather horrific memory to Gabriella's thoughts whenever she thinks of her happiness. She knows that there is more to the family business that what is being let on, and she swears that one day she will avenge her parents death. Until then, she has to lie low, and swear up and down that she wasn't at the scene of her parents passing.

As the family business comes to light, Gabriella must make a decision concerning her future; does she avenge her parents death? Or does she go forward with the chance relationship with Kaleb Morgan who is only proving to make her life, family, and future more complicated? Gabriella leads everyone on to thinking that her life is almost perfect when - in reality - it is far from that. Her life has been one mess after another, and there isn't much the poor girl can do about it as we follow her through her journey.

This was a story of finding your self while loosing yourself. Sometimes a person has to loose themselves before they can remotely being to know who, what, and where they are headed in life, and Gabriella did just that. She had to loose herself when her parents were killed. She had to find out who she was as her life progressed into her future that she knew she had to make for herself. And she had to understand where she was going before she could find herself, and be ready to be there for somebody else.

Kaydee Mavericks did a wonderful job bringing this book to life. While I didn't think this book was for me in the beginning, I continued reading, and things seemed to click a bit more for me. The only issue that I would say I noticed was that the book moved way too fast for my liking. The pro to this is that there is no dull moments in the book where the reader is left guessing, or trying to piece parts together. There were minimal spelling, and grammar errors within the book.

I am giving Kaydee Mavericks a 4 Bar review for Searching For Me! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to review your newest release with me!

Sometimes you have to revisit the past before moving forward...

**3.5 Stars**

Gabby Ashford was turning twenty one and still struggling to reconcile a years-old tragedy that ripped her sense of well-being apart. She is trying to do what she feels she should but she is pursuing an education and career she’s not entirely sure she wants. With the real nature of her family’s business, and part in the tragedy, still in question, she was not ready for Kaleb Morgan to make things even more complicated. He was the son of her uncle’s business partner and, even though he was close friends with her cousin, she had her misgivings. Plus the attraction she felt for him was one more uncertainty she didn’t want to deal with. When recurring nightmares intrude on the present and threats from the past come knocking, would the two be strong enough to weather the storm or would tragedy once again rip Gabby’s world apart?

The storyline caught my attention right away and it ably delivered on suspenseful twists and turns. The writing style was good though I found myself mired in the, what sometimes felt forced, to and fro between Gabby and Kale. There was a lot of drama but some of the events seemed so out of place in the relatively new relationship between the two. Gabby was definitely one of many likable characters with her best friend Kaci being a wingman every girl would want to have by her side. Kale seemed to be ready to fill the role of protective lover but perhaps the quickness of their romance had me questioning what seemed like “insta-love”. I enjoyed the story overall and the characters will have me back again – Kaci and Dane need their own books!

Five years ago Gabriella saw her her parents die. No one knew she was at home when they were murdered and she decided that as long as no one knew she was safe. When she turns 21 her uncle throws her a lavish party, she meets the enigmatic son of her uncles friend. She is attracted to him but figures he's A) a bit of a manwhore and b) somehow involved in the shady dealings of her uncles business. She's been working at the business and is trying to work out why she feels that there is some hinky going on.

As the story continues shady dealings and the exact nature of her uncles business creation come to light. There are grave consequences when Gabriellas presence of the night her parents where killed comes to light.

I loved this story!! Kaydee is a new author to me and I was wonderfully surprised. This was a powerful story, with many intricate twists and turns. You really wonder through most of the story as to what Gabriellas family got involved in. The family and friends surrounding her are all fabulous too. None are mere window dressing, all are fully fleshed characters, even when not all of them feature very heavily.

Whilst at times I did struggle to like Gabriella, she proved to be a strong, feisty female. She endures much in her short life and comes through on top.

The writing is strong and the language evocative. The banter between Gabriella and her best friends strikes a very familiar chord and you do get sucked into their little tight knit group. Well deserved 4*!!

This author is one of my absolute must read authors. Eveyone has some and while a few months ago I had never heard of her, she is now one I "Facebook stalk" just to make sure I don't miss anything she publishes. Now onto this book. Kaleb or Kale as he likes to go by is the man of any girl's dreams. I mean that, holy cow not only are you off the charts hot, but he is the protector and romantic and alpha all rolled into one. He glances at Gabriella and immediately feels an electric spark that could set the whole place on fire. Gabriella feels the exact same way and tries with all her might to keep him out of her head. And then you add in a whole lot of suspense and nail biting moments and you have a home run of a book!! I sat down with this little gem and devoured it in one sitting. There is not one thing in this book that I didn't like. Great job again Ms. Mavericks!! Can't wait to see what comes next!! This was easily a 5++ AMAZEBALLS stars. A copy was given in exchange for an honest review.

This is a story of a girl who witnessed the murder of her parents & survived. Nightmares hunt her, she keeps searching for clues on the people who murdered her parents and why they were killed and all the while searching for herself. Meeting Kaleb along the way helps her ease her mind on her troubles but still she can’t easily give her trust to him. Kaleb is like a force of wind that knocked Gabriella off her feet. A one night stand that turned into something more. She gained a protector and just in time, when her nightmare caught up to her. Kaleb became the person that stuck by her side, loving her & caring for her and somehow has gained her love & trust.

I love how their relationship has blossomed though it was fast. I love the plot of the story and how it lets us know that friends & family sticks together, her friendship with Kaci who keeps her together & sane after the death of her parents. I just wish her brother was added more in the story or maybe that will be Kaydee’s next book. I’ll definitely wait for that.

A Quickie Romance with Dark Roots
This book captured my attention from the start and I read it straight through. It's a quick read, kinda dark, and mysterious. It's loaded with suspense and plot twists and turns. Gabriella saw the stuff of nightmares five years ago and the nightmares still plague her to this day. She's now twenty one, and not really sure if what she wants out if life. No one except Gabriella knows that Gabriella saw what happened and she intends to keep it that way. She wants to find out what and who was behind that traumatic event. Was her family's business involved in some way? When she meets Kaleb it's a real whirlwind of things that kind of happen way too fast. I think the story was well written other than that last tidbit. There was plenty of juicy plot to keep you turning pages and the characters were very well written. I'd like to read more from this author. I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this, it's exacualty what I wanted a quick read with a little dark twist and a beautiful love behind it all, but no love is perfect and doesn't always fall into place at first sight.
Gabby hadn't had the perfect life, she witnessed her parents murder at a young age of 16 and is searching for their killers.
However her life is turned around on her 21st birthday when she meets kale, when her uncle throws her a big birthday bash.
Finally things seem to be coming to normal until the past collides and gabby is left wondering just how much kale loves her and if he can save her before time runs out.
The dark turns and twist left me on the edge of my seat hoping for a miracle and in the end gabby gets exacualty what she's always wanted. I wouldn't seeing a second book to this, maybe set in the future a year or so.

I received this for an honest review.. I have to say that this was a pretty enjoyable read.. I really liked the characters and the story was a very good read.. This book had a bit of everything a little suspense and some nice twists and turns a nice hot romance between Gabriella and Kale. Some really awesome secondary characters who definitely need their own book. This is one of those books that when you pick it up you don't want to put it down because you really want to see where the story and the author will take you!!!!

A great and quick read!

Searching for Me was of family, friendship, love and deception. I loved the intrigue of what happened to Gabriella's parents and the love that began to blossom between her and Kaleb. I wasn't sure about him at first but as the story progressed he was amazing! He loved Gabriella so much and I loved the way he adored her and showed her that love in everything he did. This story started with a girl, who was lost and still grieving from the loss of her parent, but ended with her finding love and answers to the past.

Good read

Gabriella watched her parents die when she was 16. Now 5 years later, she is still having nightmares. At a party for her 21st birthday, she meets Kaleb Morgan. She assumed he was a player but even with that assumption after meeting him, her world is turned upside down.

This was such an amazing story. There were so many twists and turns, I honestly felt like I was on a roller coaster ride. I can't wait to read more books by this new author to me.

Amazing quick read

Loved this book it has a insta love type vibe gabby has had it pretty rough and she doesn't know if Kale is a player and can be trusted or not. Kale is amazing and doesn't give up no matter how much Gabby pushes him away I recommend this book for insta love readers with a little mystery thrown in

Good story, I found this author after reading Alexander isle of eagleland which was a disappointment but thought give it another go and glad I did.

This story flows better, great character progression through the book and suspense and drama.

You should definitely give it a go.

This was my first book from this author.....and for me, it was okay. I really thought the storyline was good and intriguing, but some of it seemed a bit rushed. I definitely will try another book from this author, but this one just didn't quite do it for me.

Crazy

This book had a crazy storyline. All the suspenseful crazy stuff happens about midway through. There was a few typos but it didn't detract from the story. I liked it.

*Book Received in Exchange for Honest Opinion/Review*

One word to describe this book…meh. I found the characters to be poorly developed and un-relateable. I was so extremely annoyed with these characters that the story was difficult to finish. Gabby and Kale have sex once and talk maybe 2 times and then bam…they are in love and head-over heels about each other. What the ever loving h*ll? Where is the development of the love story because from what I read there was none. The progression was literally, I got goosebumps when he touched my skin. Then it was I will have a one night stand even though I am not that kind of girl and most of the information I know about him is from Google searches.

Aside from the poorly developed characters, the plot was all over the place. She doesn’t have nightmares and suddenly she does. My father is the mob boss, let me casually stroll in and ask if he killed someone’s parents, yes that is definitely going to go over well. So frustrating; however, if you like quick sex, instant love, and a patchy plot, this is a must read for you!
