From the Beginning

Rate this book
A post-apocalyptic adventure novel
When culture is washed away, humans become as wild as the wildest nature

Sometime soon, in the very near future, water rises and covers the entire earth, erasing humanity and its infrastructure. A small group of survivors manages to find shelter on a small mountaintop that remained exposed despite the flood. Here, forced to withstand avalanches, injuries and famine, as well as the excruciating pain of loss and bereavement, they must create a life for themselves and invent humanity from the beginning. As unexpected bonds and loaded relationships are formed, the constant rustle of the descending water levels continues its alarming hum. And above all, hovers a horrible prophecy threatening to come true…

Lust, danger and human instinct come together in a realistic fantasy, packed with action, romance and suspense.

Grace, a beautiful and charismatic woman, slowly takes her place as a leader of the group and the founder of its old-new way of living. From the ‘sacred cave’ at the top of their ‘island’, to the foot of the shoreline, where the tribe dwells, she must steer her new and impossible community out of doom and into a hoped-for future. This calamity Also offers a chance of a life time to wipe the slate clean and start all over again. Will they be wise enough to take the opportunity, or will their past have a stronger hold?

Interesting story but needs some editing

This is an interesting story line but there are a lot of errors in this book. Mostly spelling errors but one of the main characters name is switched from the first couple chapters. I was also a little confused because Grace tells the men they can be possessive of women but she is possessive of men. There is a lot of action in this book and keeps you interested. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest unbiased review. This has not influenced my opinions on the book.

More sex than apocalypse

This was a hard book to get through. The main character, Grace, winds up the defacto leader of a group of survivors following an apocalyptic flood. She refers to this group as a tribe and then through visions, she "guides" them to live more like the "ancient" tribes did. She even calls her thoughts "ancient knowledge". The story is not so much about survival as it is about sex and there is plenty of it. This is definitely a book only for adults. Sorry to say I really didn't like this book at all.

I was really looking forward to reading this book, based upon the description of it. I was intrigued with the idea thanks to the disclaimer from the author first and foremost on the listing telling you that it may not be a book you like, that it will cause you to feel uncomfortable, etc. That alone piqued my interest and made me want to see what she was talking about.

Unfortunately, that was not what I experienced. I loved the idea of the story, though it is a more common and not the most original plot idea. Much of what I read reminded me of other things I have read or seen in movies and tv shows before, and at times it was pretty predictable. But the biggest problem I had with the story was the amount of sexual content. I was not pleased that the book included so much. I understand being warned that it may not be my cup of tea, but there is more to a story than sex and sexual tension. This book definitely one that pushes buttons and tests your morals.

I might have enjoyed the story more had there been beter editing. The story was originally written in Hebrew, then translated in to English, and it seems much was lost in translation. The story did not flow smoothly as a result, and there were mechanics errors and spelling mistakes galore. I was very distracted and it made it quite the challenge to me to get through. I did manage to finish because I wanted to see what happened, but I will not be reading a sequel if there is one.

The author DOES do a good job of writing, though. It just needs to be seen throughout the story more, which can be fixed with more editing and polishing. I would recommend removing some of the sex from the story and focusing more on the survival and characters themselves. But it was still a decent story that did keep me reading, as I figured out what was going on as I read. The characters were believable and realistic, though some are definitely not the most likeable, but that shows the author DOES know how to write, to evoke emotion such as dislike for a character.

Read the other reviews on Amazon, see what others have to say, get their input and views, and then decide for yourself whether to read it or not. I do think it is an entertaining read overall, though. Just not one of my favorites.

This book is about what happens to a group of people and how they survive after the world is flooded. The book contains some sexual situations so is only fitting for adult readers.

The books protagonist, Grace, is portrayed as a strong woman who becomes the tribe's priestess and leader. She struggles with helping the tribe learn to survive and building their lives around love, harmony and peace.

The book is interesting and thought provoking; however, it is hard to get into at the beginning. If I hadn't been given this book to provide an honest review I would've probably stopped reading before I got to chapter 10. I'm glad I didn't and continued to press through the choppiness of the first few chapters. Once you get into the story you don't notice the choppiness anymore and you just want to find out what happens next.

My reasoning for only giving this book 4 stars is that the writing is choppy. Additionally, one of the characters names keeps changing both with spelling and his entire name changed between chapters 1 and 3. I finally figured out who the author was talking about 1/2 way thru chapter 3.

Not cooked yet

Pretty poor editing best friend names change, clumsy flashbacks? Shallow heroine shallow character development. Just shows how hard it really is to turn out a good apocalyptic tale. Good story, loved the botanical. Suggestion.....take out the throbbing and bodice ripping and it’s a great YA romp.

A New World Has Come

This is a novel about the end of the world and a new beginning of a new world.
It is not the type of book that I usually read, but it was well worth the time.
This novel was well written and kept me reading to find out what was going to happen next.
The characters are well developed .
The main character is Grace, a young woman with visions or as she called them vibes
There is good and evil in this new world and Grace and the other tribe members must make a new world out of nothing.
There are sexual overtones. So I would recommend this book to adults.
I can't wait to read the sequel and see what how this new world will flourish.
