Well, it was highly inventive. I generally liked the stories and the art. I didn't care as much for the comic relief stuff. The klutzy little character known as the Gronk, who kept saying "oh my poor heartses," just got irritating after a while. I liked the main hero's sidekick, Wulf, but his constant use of the term "cucumber" also got kind of old. Another problem was that in a number of places the panels crossed the division between pages so that you couldn't read or see the whole panel. I think I missed a few things I'd like to have been able to read. Overall, though I was entertained.

This book is purely nuts!!!
I’ve recently been going back through some of the the old 2000AD comics like Judge Dredd and Rogue Trooper. I never read Strontium because it just never really appealed to me... but man was I missing out!
I honestly cannot remember all the craziness that happened in this book because there’s just too much, but I can tell you that they went to Hell, fought Death and the 4 Horsemen, then they ended up back in time and captured Hitler. Keep in mind that this whole time it’s a mutant bounty hunter that can read minds, see through walls, and other weird stuff and his best friends are a time displaced Viking and a weird Snork looking alien that talks like Jar Jar Binks.. waaay before there ever was a Jar Jar Binks!

These stories are like 40+ years old and they’re wacky, cliched, full of machismo, and terrible... but terrible in that good way! Fun terrible! It’s like watching an old Stallone action movie!

Surprisingly there’s a lot of humor in this book and I lost count of how many times the word cucumber was said!!! 🥒

Early 2000AD stuff is close to my heart, so a lot of nostalgia credit here. The Strontium Dogs story is clichéd to the hilt, I mean come on, Hell, Hitler and red-necks! Wulf Sternhammer and The Gronk are limited almost entirely to their catchphrases so offer little in the way of support, personally I didn't mind the 'cucumber' fetish! So yes, good solid early 2000AD stock, amazing really that it was created in 1979. A happy, welcome addition to my collection of graphic novels.
