Ellen Ellis can't get away. Not from her old hometown on Cape Cod, not from her lousy job at a dying restaurant, and not from the closet. When college friend Bri pays a visit, Ellen is forced to face all that she’s missing, including her feelings for the beautiful lesbian vlogger. Can Ellen find the strength to make a future with Bri or is she destined to be anchored to the past?
I enjoyed this read. It wasn't complicated or bogged down with drama or anything...well, there was a little angst and a creepy cop guy but nothing too in depth and nothing to take away from Ellen and Bri. The story is told by Ellen, an out in college in at home waitress who feels life just passing by. When her college crush, Bri (up and coming vlogger) asks to crash with her a few days, Ellen is excited and terrified all at the same time. Now, Ellen must decide if she is brave enough to move forward in her life and go for what she wants or stay where she is and keep everything hidden. Read it. It's cute. And Ellen and Bri are very believable, realistic characters.

I have never read this author before but I can see myself reading one of their’s again! This is a very charming book. It feels different from other books of the lesbian rom variety. This book wasn’t overly sexual (it did have some though,) but the plot itself was enchanting. I takes place on the Cape (which anything on the east coast is enchanting, with old world feel to it;) Ellen leaves college (previous to the beginning,) and comes home. Though she feels depressed and hopeless, and old college chum, Bri, shows up and buried secrets come back to the forefront. The story works through these issues and resolves at the end, although the ending is a bit abrupt and doesn’t really do a lot of explaining as to the jump that happens. Which is really unfortunate, as the story up to that point was a solid four star.
Still, a good enjoyable read that didn’t feel like wasted time. Quick read too! (Never mind my dates...it doesn't take that long to read it.)
Easy, comfortable book. Enjoyed getting to know Ellen and Bri. I could empathize w/ Ellen, going to her uninspiring job @ the restaurant every day. It took courage for Bri to nudge their relationship past the just friends stage.
