Stormseeker was a pretty fun and thrilling ride by a new Black Library author, and I can definitely see why he was chosen to write for them.
The story's pacing was good, the action was intense and the whole thing had this high-octane vibe to it, that I really enjoyed. I also really enjoyed the interesting cross between Mechanicum techno-religion and the Space Wolves more Viking-like beliefs.

That said, I think a lot of new authors struggle sometimes with getting enough of a chapter's culture and personality in a story without over-doing it. It might just be that I haven't read any non-HH Space Wolves stuff since William King and Lee Lightner's Space Wolves saga, but I felt the whole Space Wolf flying a Stormwolf with a cyberwolf shooting frostwolfs was a bit too much wolf/ice/frost and got extremely repetitive. It turned the wolves culture and wargear into an annoying caricature rather than the psuedo-Norse in Space thing, that can really have some depth to it.

That said, the story itself was definitely an enjoyable read, and I certainly look forward to reading more of Mr. Worley's work in the future!

For day four of Black Library’s 2016 Summer of Reading campaign we’re introduced to Alec Worley and his first story for Black Library, Stormseeker. When dark eldar pirates attack an Imperial world, the Space Wolves of the Deathwolves Great Company launch a counter-attack and Anvarr Rustmane leads his fellow Iron Priests in piloting the airborne elements of the assault. Forced to go into battle without placating the machine-spirit of his Stormwolf, Anvarr finds himself in a desperate fight against the dark eldar’s own flyers where he needs all of his skill, and the cooperation of his gunship, to survive.
