I posted this same review on Amazon.

I’ll not recap the book, but just add a simple accurate (according to me) assessment of this book with highlighted moments. I judge all books that I read by 2 main objectives. 1 – how deep am I submerged; how hard do I find it to put the book down and how much do I care about the characters and their goals. 2 – Do I talk about it with others; do I relate to it in my personal life after I have finished reading.

Using a scale of zero (no, the book didn’t draw me in at all) to five (I read through the night until finished), for my first objective I place this book at 4, which is my personal comfort zone. I could set the book down and go to work/sleep, but did have a small urge in the back of my head to keep reading. Mrs. Jayne kept her hooks in with not a lot of down time. Everything she wrote was to advance the plot and keep the reader interested.

My favorite part happens when you least expect it and the sudden change in dynamic just spirals the intensity of the situation. I was left with a “did that just happen, no way—what is going to happen to Emily now”. (hint: starts in the house kitchen and Nicholas is there).
For the second objective using a scale of zero (forgot about it) to five (doodling or writing fan art) I place myself at about a 4 which is really good. But to be honest I did want to doodle out a few of the demon’s, I see them a lot thinner (panther-like) than I think someone else would in my minds eye.

I talk about Emily Von Peer as a character who isn’t fully developed, meaning at the start of the book she is in a very lonely and lost place. She grew as she learned more and more about the world around her. When she finds out that she was held back, she starts to show aggression and I want to see more of this. She goes from meek to courageous and strong. When I said not fully developed, it is because I feel she has more potential and hope there is a book two where we can explore her power with her.

I enjoyed this escape into another world where I could put my place in Emily’s shoes and adventure with her. This book is wonderful read and I recommend it for adult women who need that sense of wonder from time to time.

This has elemental subgenres of Mystery (starts out), Adventure (quests), Relationship (with herself, the paladins, her grandmother), Thriller (the demons), and Wonder (magic elements).

Emily Von Peer has nightmares and in them is the man of her dreams. He's sexy, handsome, and thoroughly male, but he isn't real and that's a problem. The next issue is, he dies every night in her dreams.

Grieving the mysterious death of her aunt, Emily returns home where shortly after she discovers the house has locked her inside. Something lurks in the garden that is meant for Emily's destruction and it is the house's duty to protect her. When the threat is over, she comes face to face with the man she loves in the front yard of her home. Nicholas Flynn is real, he's sexy, and he's just as handsome. He also a member of the Paladin, a group of men and women dedicated to destroying demons. One of which just trampled through her yard.

After another encounter with the demon Emily receives an injury that could turn her into a demon which Nicholas is bound to destroy. Nicholas' mother, a mighty Paladin, is determined to save her only surviving son and soon Emily and Nicholas are thrust into a world where the ordinary becomes the extraordinary and angels and demons come out to play.

Premonition is a delightful if sometimes dark and sometimes light-hearted novel you are sure to get lost in. The novel is well-written and thoroughly enjoyable. It is suitable for young adult and even for oldsters. I love the way Jayne weaves her tale with poetic precision. If you are in the mood for demons, angels, and witches, this is a really great book to read.

Janye's Premonition starts out with a comforting familiarity before launching the reader into a world filled with adventure and the paranormal. The introduction reminded me of Alice Hoffman's Practical Magic in regards to the discussion of love potions gone wrong. That said, it doesn't take long for the suspense to build, sending the reader into a wonderfully unique tale. Jayne adds layer upon layer for the reader to take in, from Emily's "curse" of seeing her future lover, to her Aunt's disappearance, to the discovery of the man see has been seeing in her dreams, and the devastating results of an injury.

The dialogue is witty and, often times, funny as the characters develop. I started reading Premonition with the expectation a love story, but was gladly surprised to have discovered a story that contained so much more. The diversity of the paranormal and the world of those involved in protecting others from said paranormal dangers endears this story to the hearts of readers.

Premonition is written with a light take on a dark world full of monsters and struggles, and the result is a highly enjoyable story for anyone looking for a story about love, magic, or suspense.
