This is the third Lesiel Van Helsing trade I have read and it is the best so far. The story starts out kind of annoying with a couple of pages of sappy love story lines spoken between Taylor and Franklin. I thought that this was going to be a tired and boring story with secondary characters....however, I was wrong. This is only a necessary story setup to show how strong Taylor's love is for her husband. After Franklin is killed by a Mothman creature the sappy love story turns to obsessive lost love as Taylor will do anything to keep her lover alive; even create a hulking destructive monster a.k.a a Frankenstein's Monster.

The story is interesting and is much more faithful to the romanticism genre of Mary Shelly's original master piece than many other adaptations and parody's I have read.

The art work is good and fits the story well.

This book is recommended for comic fans of horror monsters and for anyone who loves Mary Shelly's original story.

Series Review:
“Van Helsing Vs Frankenstein” by Patrick Shand, Leonardo Colapietro

Ghastly and bloody, Van Helsing and her colleagues go after monsters.
This edition utilises the Frankenstein mythology but is rather sacrilegious of the essence of the Frankenstein motif.
Intense story!

Issue#1 Bloody Vicious
“The vacation home of Franklin and Taylor Shelley”

Issue#2 A Great and Sudden Change
“You want me to download his consciousness – whatever fractured piece of it remains – onto a hard drive?”

Issue#3 It’s Alive
“This ... this just went from dire to TWENTY-THOUSAND LEAGUES beyond ABSOLUTELY F###ED”

Issue#4 Lost in darkness and Distance
“It’s moments like these when I realize how dependent I’ve been on Hades.”

Issue#5 No Grief
“I don’t know WHAT that thing is, but if your plan is to KILL it … I want to be there.”

Like most Zenetrope books, this book has a new take on the familiar tale. The most obvious being that Dracula's old nemesis is now going up against the mad doctor's creation. And that is not the only difference. The birth of the monster - which does not involve any member of the family Frankenstein - is an original concept and plausible. From that point, the book becomes an action story that still manages to convey a conflict between good and evil within the monster. Like most Zentrope series this book is too short lasting only five chapters but the boob shots are kept to a minimum and thus the story takes center stage. That is a good thing, although a few more chapters would have been appreciated.

Van Helsing continues her monster hunting in the horror-adventure Van Helsing vs. Frankenstein. After her husband is killed battling a mothman, Taylor Shelley attempts to save him by placing his brain in a new body; but when he breaks loose and starts wreaking havoc, Van Helsing goes after him. The writing is a little weak, and working the Shelleys into Van Helsing comes off a bit awkward and forced. However, the colorist, Slamet Mujiono, goes an excellent job creating a rich visual aesthetic that leaps off the page. While it’s an underwhelming matchup, Van Helsing vs. Frankenstein is still a fun and entertaining comic.

Van Helsing rocks! In this graphic novel, she, along with Hell Child battles the legendary Frankenstein. I enjoyed this amazing new version, written by Pat Shand and beautifully illustrated by Leonardo Colapietro. Highly recommended!

I have really been enjoying all the Van Helsing comics and this one is no exception!!! I really like the interesting take on the "Frankenstein" monster. It's very modern and fits welll into the Van Helsing/Zenescope universe.
