AN AFRICAN AMERICAN URBAN ROMANCEMelissa was the quite shy girl that no one noticed. She had a few friends who consisted of her roommate since freshmen year Carissa and Chantel who was the only friend that she’s had since her childhood, she was mainly the only thing that she vaguely remembered from her childhood. She’s in a relationship with Chantel’s fraternal twin brother Mike who later cheats on her. In the beginning of her junior year in college she meets this guy named August, and he's known for only wanting one thing from girls and that's sex but he see’s something different in Melissa and he’s willing to try committing with her. Melissa's been hurt one too many times that she doesn’t want another relationship, so being the type of person that August is he makes an deal with her. Which is Sex and no Commitment, but at this rate they are both going it's going to be a tough deal to follow through with. And there's something that Melissa forgets to mention to August, will he still want her after she tells him? So many questions, but you gotta read to find out.
What the hell is this book about! I am totally confused with this book jumping all over the place from one story to the next. Then so many grammatical errors I could barely understand what was being written as if I had to put my own words in to understand what this author is writing about. I know I'm not an author and should not have to be editing a damn book to read. Now I have to find out what is going on and what is going to happen in book 2. Ughhhh
This could’ve been a great great story if the writer took more time to develop out the plot. I’m so confused. I feel like I wasted time reading. Ugh too many twists and turns I couldn’t keep up.
I don't usually give negative reviews. But this was a big let down.
The spelling/grammar are horrible! I don't believe a single edit was done on this book before it went to print.
The characters are annoying as hell! I don't feel any attachment to or concern for any of them. There was nothing that made me root for anyone. I felt like they were all stupid on some level.
The story and writing style were basic and juvenile! I felt like a teenager could have written this...and done it more successfully.
The romantic essence was extremely lacking! Even the sex scene is Melissa's first dream sequence was lame! The descriptions of body parts and sexual acts were terrible and boring.
There were way too many inconsistencies throughout the entire book! How can August walk in after witnessing a "heated conversation" between Mike and Mel, when she didn't say a word to Mike until after August had walked in? How can August have 30 minutes to make it to his private jet in 3 hours? Especially when the very next paragraph says it didn't take him long to get to the airport, so we know it wasn't 2.5 hours away. Also on page 19, Melissa references her roommate Carissa, whose nick name is Candy. But on page 97, Candy tells Melissa that her real name is Carissa. And Melissa is shocked. What?! She already knew this at the beginning of the book! And, the ages of the characters and dates of events keeps changing throughout the book. It's hard to follow and believe. And, I think the ending is supposed to be a cliff hanger. I didn't get it at all. It just...stopped. It was weird.
I could go on and on, but I won't. If you loved this story, great! Everyone is entitled to have their own opinion. However if you're looking for a deep romance or erotica story on an ADULT level, I honestly think this isn't worth the read. Sorry. :-(
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Poorly written, not very likeable characters, plotline all over the place. Too many twists...way too many. I very rarely stop reading books unless they're truly dire...this was one of them. Not worth it in my opinion.
I'm reading this on my Kindle I'm on page 149 and can't go any further. There's no structure, no consistency, no logic, no clear direction just outlandishness for the sake of being outlandish, as well as the grammatical errors. I can't read anymore.
WTF I just read and I only got halfway of the worse book I ever read.Overall just confused like Melissa is a virgin but had a child .Then Mike and August and Chantel are brothers all going to the same college but August didn’t know Mike was dating Chantel and candy Melissa roommate was actually her sister like this book is a big No for me.
I don't like the fact that the story never came together everything is confusing seems like everybody pregnant and had a baby by every body you need to go back and redo this sloppy sloppy work
Whys is everyone trying to make Melissa's life miserable??? She can't catch a break for nothing. Hopefully Mike and August nem can keep all the stalkers away
