THE BABY CHANGED EVERYTHING. I was poised to inherit the Orsini mafia family’s fortune, ready to take over, rule hard, and die young. Then my father arranged a marriage between me and the daughter of a rival don. A sham to keep the peace. A sham that I wanted nothing to do with…

But when the old man’s peace starts dying and the other families put a target on her back. I’ll do whatever it takes to keep her safe.
Even if I have to lash her to the bed. To hold her close and NEVER let go.

Arranged marriages in 2016...is that a thing? I'm serious, I wonder if it happens still.
Marcelo and Sophie come from warring mob families. In an effort to bring peace, they are forced into marriage. Neither wanting the marriage, it's a rough ride at first.
Marcelo is bossy, cocky and arrogant. Even though he has been forced into marriage, he finds his new wife attractive but can't resist pushing her buttons. Even going so far as trying to make her jealous when his ex is at a dinner party at their home. They are married and he has thoughts about the ex that I thought were unnecessary...
Speaking of the new Mrs. Marcelo Orsini, Alana was probably the saltiest about the new arrangement. It had been ages since she and I had been together, but she never let me forget it. She would have loved to be my Mrs. Orsini. Sophia could look to her for some tips. Enthusiasm and eagerness. Maybe gratefulness and submission.
If a wife was all I needed, I wouldn’t even have been that mad if my dad had selected Alana. Too bad she wasn’t a Dandolo.
I should have been happy that I had never upset her in that way as of yet , but I wanted to know. It was selfish, I will admit, because I wanted to see how upset she would be about my ex contacting me. Upset, in this case, referred to jealousy. She had already asked me once not to let Alana into the house, and I hadn’t. That was partly why I was driving upstate to see her.
I hadn’t touched another woman since marrying Sophia, but she had put a ring on my finger, not a blindfold over my eyes. I was still a man, and both my eyes could see just fine. Alana was hot. Of course, she was. Why would I have been with her if she wasn’t?
I just found him tacky initially. I mean they are BOTH thrown into this situation, but he doesn't even try to make peace with Sophia.
Sophia was blindsided. Not only is she, at 28 years old, finding out her family is mafia, she is being forced to marry a man she doesn't know. He is cocky and insist she quits her job. He has a dinner party and has her in the kitchen hand washing dishes while the party is going on. It isn't until her life is threatened that things start turning around for them.
--arrogant mafia hero -starts as a jerk but does redeem himself in the end --ok heroine who just keeps taking lumps from everyone --no cheating -both are completely faithful --ow drama --HFN ending
Just couldn't get behind these characters. I felt the connection was lacking until the very end.
Going into this read, I had no idea how well written this story would be and how happy I would be for reading it. The story was delightfully soft and lovely, especially with the mob theme. Usually, romance-mod books can be a little dark and tense, but not this read. I very much enjoyed it and would read other books from this author.
As much as I want to love this book especially with the plot and dual POVs, the writing reeeally irked me. Not the style because I really they're fine, but the storyline, the conversations, the way the storye goes.. Seriously, I can't help but disliking it.
The characters seems to hate each other but they "consume" their marriage just like that? And what the effin' F with the whole 'wife should do house chores only' charade the Hero forced our heroine into? I was so mad I simply want to stop reading at that point but I still give it a go and yes, not my book. I just had to stop.
Not sure if this book is your cup of tea but you should try and read it though. Because it's just my opinion.
This had all the makings of a good Alpha male Mafia romance. Unfortunately the author lacked in her story telling ability. The characters were shallow and the plot was soooo boring I actually fell asleep while reading. Couldn't wait to get to the end. Funniest thing about the story was how hilariously little dialogue between characters. The whole story was POV inner monologues which were really ridiculous. This was lame and hard to read. Don't waste your time.
I had a tough time reading this book and ended up skimming to the end, and I rarely ever book skim (I can't not finish a book that I started). Firstly, the timeline never adds up. Secondly, her name is Sophia but repeatedly gets called Sophie?!?!?!? It wasn't even as if it was a nickname, but more like the author couldn't decide what name to use and the one sentence where she says Marcelo called her Sophie instead of Sophia didn't cover it as a blanket of acceptance - at least for me. My third issue with the book is 'had had' is repeated many times and while it is proper grammar there are ways to still use proper grammar and no be repetitive. Lastly, the book switches between talking in past and present tense in the same paragraph.
Also, note the name of the book made absolutely zero sense. Nowhere does it talk about a 'Don' in the book. I as an avid reading like find the link as to what the author titles their book. It can be just one simple line, and maybe I missed it in my skimming but I don't think so.
I might have been a bit harsh with my review but this book could use some serious editing.
Omg I loved this book, I was hooked from the beginning and couldn't put the book down.
Sophia life is changed over night from the executive chef working in the family restaurant to the only daughter of one of the biggest mob family's in New York, a secret her parents had hidden from her for 27 years. Sophia is summoned by her dad to attend an important meeting where she is told that only she is the only daughter of a mob family but she has been used as a bargaining tool to broker peace between her family the Dandlo's and the Orsini. Sophia is to marry the only son and heir of the Orsini family Marcelo. Both Sophia and Marcelo are not pleased about the arranged marriage but are given no choice as they are married with the week. It's not long after the wedding and all the drama starts, there is an unhappy ex, a hitman,a baby and fights between the two as they go from enemies to lovers. Not to mention the awesome best friend.
This is the first book I’ve read by Sophia Hampton, I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. As I began to read I was hesitant, because I felt that the hero and heroine were constantly ranting in their heads throughout. However, the story was interesting enough to keep me reading. The love story between Sophie and Marcelo was unconventional, but I was satisfied with how everything unraveled. I enjoyed how the author managed to present the hero in a way that, at first, made him seem almost hateful, and as the story unfolded allowed us to see his development and drastic change. As certain situations brought them closer, I came to love Sophia and Marcelo as a couple. The novel contains some steamy scenes as well as romance. I was underwhelmed by some of the scenes that were supposed to be suspenseful (or make the reader worry), but again, as the story continued I found that it “worked”. It was an easy, good read.
Well I don't know where to start!! This story is FANTASTIC! I don't want to give spoilers as you must 'one click' for yourself. Sophia gets a summons from her father and informs her she is getting married to Marcelo. She has no say in the matter nor does Marcelo so they are wed. Quite a few bumps, drama steam along the way and one hell of a biatch involved, if I could slap her through the pages I would have!!! Alana (biatch) has really lost the plot and all because she can't have Marcelo. I really can't say more as I will reveal too much but really this book will quench your thirst!! I shall be reading lots more from Ms Hampton. X
Received ARC for honest review (Amazon.co.uk review also posted)
I was given The Don's Baby as an ARC for an honest review. I honestly loved it, this was my first Sophia Hampton book and it definitely will not be my last. Already purchased a few more :). Marcelo started out as the character you loved to hate, but slowly turned into the guy you love to love. Sophia was sweet and a little oblivious (at first). That being said she also had a stubborn streak and when her sarcastic side came out, it was awesome! I didn't want to put his book down, but work got in the way. Loved her style of writing. Every time I thought, I wish I knew more back ground to that or I'd love more info on this. it was given to me in the next few pages or chapter. I felt like the author was reading my mind. Great book! Thanks Sophia :)
Parts of it I liked and obviously there were parts I didn't like. I disliked how he treated Sophia at the beginning. Be respectful in your house to your wife when you have guest. Don't let an ex lover in your house. I didn't like how he mentioned Alana and their time together. Yes say you were livers and leave it. I felt he thought about in detail too often. Did he want Sophia thinking her last partner and how hot it was. Something se that bothered me was where was her security. Once Alana got cuckoo and sent those pictures she should have been put on the do not let in the area but yet she was able to knock on the door and get inside. I'm glad they decided to put their child's safety first and buy a villa but I'm not sure in the real mafia type world if you can just leave. Idk

At first, Marcelo was not a likable alpha. I know, that's probably what the author intended, but still. Poor Sophia, was hit with what her dad really was, and that he arranged a marriage for her, in one short period. You get both Marcelo and Sophia's POV, which really helped to smooth over my dislike of Marcelo. Even though he grew up knowing what his father did, and was even involved, he was basically called in and told that he was marrying Sophia and that was that. Once they started getting along, they were a great couple to read about. I'm going to miss them. Great read, would definitely recommend.
I was given this book as an ARC for an honest review. I truly enjoyed this book. I despised Marcelo at the beginning, but as the story unfolded I grew to like him and by the end I loved he and Sophia together. I enjoyed reading both points of view and it was easy to follow the story. This book had some steamy/hot scenes in it, but also included some love and romance. A good combination of the bad and good in a person. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a bad boy that falls in love.
It was a pretty good book. I absolutely hated the hero in the beginning but grew to love him. As a couple, they work very well together. There was more internal dialogue than I usually care for, however. I also felt that it was very fast paced at times when more suspense was needed and dragged out in parts that could've been skipped altogether, which made me lose focus at times. However, overall, the story was good and kept me intrigued through most of it, so I'd recommend the book.
I was given an ARC by the author in exchange for an honest review.
I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.

At first I didn't like Marcelo at all, but I started to like him more over time. This is definitely not my favorite book by this author, but an okay read.
I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I loved this book I love the dynamic of the characters in this book. I loved how passionate they talked to each other either fighting when not liking each other and when they got along.
This book didn't turn out to be exactly what I thought it would. It was less violence and more personal issues. Made it a pretty nice read. And the way things work out is really sweet.
I don't think any book should get a 1 star rating, so this book gets 2 stars. The hero and heroine were very boring. The heroine kept saying the same thing in different ways. But I finished reading it. What a book!!
ARC publisher provided for honest review. Started well, then lost a little interest but picked back up. There was steam and story so all was worked out in the end.
Love love love this book!! It grabbed me from the beginning! Sophia Hampton did such a good job on redemption for Marcelo cause I wanted to run him over from page 1 but, ended up loving him!!!!
