A unique duo of humorous paranormal romances by USA Today bestselling author Mindy Klasky and award-winning author Deborah Blake.
Vampires! Witches! There's magic afoot!
In Mindy Klasky’s Fright Court, Sarah Anderson has found her dream job: Clerk of Court for the District of Columbia Night Court. Dream job, that is, until she’s attacked in the open courtroom by a vampire defendant. And until she’s forced to take self-defense lessons from her boss, the enigmatic vampire James Morton. And until she learns she can’t share the truth about any of that with her best friend, Allison Ward – even over delectable cupcakes from the Cake Walk bakery. Soon, Sarah is surrounded by vampires, griffins, and sprites – all members of a secret supernatural court. And when a deceptively easy-going reporter starts to ask questions, Sarah wonders just what answers she is supposed to give…. Will Sarah be able to create order in the court?
In Deborah Blake’s Witch Ever Way You Can, Deirdre Connelly is a modern witch who accidentally becomes the reluctant guardian for the Star Stone, an ancient mystical crystal. With the aid of handsome actor Robert Daniel Addison and a mysterious spiritual guide, Deirdre uses magic, ingenuity, and determination to fight a deranged billionaire for possession of the Star Stone and its power.
Mindy Klasky’s Fright Court Series includes:
Fright Court Law and Murder (Available mid-2016)
Deborah Blake’s Witch Every Way You Can is currently a stand-alone novel.
Mindy Klasky learned to read when her parents shoved a book in her hands and told her that she could travel anywhere in the world through stories. She never forgot that advice.
Mindy's travels took her through multiple careers, including copyright lawyer and law librarian. Mindy now writes full time. Her books fall in a number of genres -- including romantic comedies, paranormal romance, and traditional fantasy.
In her spare time, Mindy knits, quilts, and tries to tame the endless to-be-read shelf in her home library. Her husband and two cats do their best to fill the left-over minutes in her days.
Magic Times Two provides two magical stories in one volume. The first, Fright Court, originally appeared as serialized chapters on the author's website. But even though I read it then, it was just as enjoyable to reread the story again, this time as a whole. Sarah Anderson realizes on her first night that her job will be anything but ordinary. Hired as the Court Clerk for the District of Columbia Night Court, she certainly was unaware that this would bring her in contact with a judge that drinks blood or vampires...including her own boss, James Morton. The second story, Witch Ever Way You Can, is about Deidre Connelly, a modern witch who gets involved with a billionaire, seeking to open a mystical box that is supposed to contain the Star Stone. Unfortunately for Deidre, not only does she get the box open but the Star Stone disappears into her palm...definitely not the solution the billionaire was seeking. Both stories offer a tale of finding oneself in a magical world, either in a world populated with vampires and otherworld beings, or in a world filled with magic. I look forward to reading more stories about both Sarah and Deidre's adventures.
Fabulous Frothy Fun! Wish the Deborah Blake installment continued with a series like the Klasky romp. And I'm craving a cup cake and a road trip to....spoiler redacted!
