Everybody loves a party… Until it turns deadly. The spooky town of Haunted Falls is a hive of activity. Everyone is eagerly preparing for the annual Founder’s Day Picnic, and diner owner/amateur sleuth, Sonja Reed, is gearing up for the festivities with a whole new selection of delicious foods. Unfortunately, the celebrations are cut short when a local veteran is found murdered. Once again, it seems that a ghostly presence is prompting Sonja to assist the local sheriff in solving the case. The plot thickens with the development of an awkward love triangle, and the heart-stopping adventures never stop in this small, supernaturally-charged Colorado town. Sonja is pulled in several different directions as the latest case unfolds. Will she figure out who the killer is before it’s too late?
I liked this book just as much as the last one in this series. The mystery was interesting and the ending was quite the surprise for me - I can't wait to see where the romance goes. I very much appreciate that the supernatural element isn't overpowering the mystery.
Loved it! Haunted Falls is all a buzz about the Founders Day Picnic. Sonja and Alllison especially because they will have a booth and want to try new stuff on customers. But as Haunted Falls goes Sonja gets a ghostly visitor and ends up smack dab in the middle of another murder mystery. I absolutely love the characters in this series and the paranormal happenings. This one had me on pins and needles not knowing who the real murderer was and who would be next!
Sonja and Ally are preparing for the big Founder's Day picnic but Sonja sees another ghost on the way to set up. Between rain, murder and a little romance Sonja is pulled in many directions but is determined to find the killer and maybe a man. Love this series. Carolyn Hunter is great writer and this series always pulls me in from the beginning. I can't wait for the next book!

Well that was a shocker of an ending. After everything was revealed, I'm not sure how I feel about the victim, which is unusual for me. Normally I have very strong opinions about characters rather than mixed feelings. The love triangle part was eye roll worthy yet amusing.
Kindle Unlimited, takes forever to get the actual story started, and not even because setting up needed backdrop information, just sluggishly slow and boring, full of one dimensional cardboard characters and plots. All the detail seems to be saved for the parts that matter the least to the actual story. Unbelievable situations and gotten in to by cardboard characters with equally unbelievable although you saw it coming a mile away 'solutions' along with ridiculously fake 'relationship' tensions.
By the way, when you have a baby as a character, at least decide and stick to whether it's a boy or a girl, and not change it in various sentences from her to him. Also useless made up drama, it adds nothing to a story, except my distaste for it. Blah blah blah, akin to the sound of the adults in a snoopy video. By the way again, few other points; plastic does not melt 'on contact' when thrown even in to a fireplace, the person in the photo is not the person in the photo uh huh, cheap cameraman is also besides the point unless meant cheap camera and it's not much of a point, Why would a place in a book series titled diner of the dead be decorated in 50's style, and gouda waffles uh yuck and I like smoked gouda but it would not go good in a waffle and even worse in crepe type and would be pretty bland and even more bland as a crumbled topping as unlike the description claims it is neither savory nor sweet but smoky, along with more blah blah useless filler crap, and someone can't make a crepe in a regular waffle iron anyway one uses a crepe maker which the writer would know if she had done any actual research for a restaurant which supposedly serves waffles and seemingly some type of crepes. Somebody waiting tables would not be messing with garbage even if bagged up, and on and on, though 10 mind yet painfully numbing useless 'books' all the cookie cutter ridiculously pathetically the same.
Would like to extend my congratulation to the 'writer' of this mess, as before now have never given a 1 to well whatever genre this mess is supposed to have been, saving the 1's for very bad sci-fi romances that are bad excuses for printing crap. For a 'writer' who supposedly has not only a degree but a BA in English, so not able to tell that nor the supposed creative writing credentials claimed, and which obviously did not include anything on how to research anything at all.How can someone who has been away from the town for years still be involved or linked in just about every possible way to every possible case, and how many cases could there even reasonably be in that small of a town.

“The Wayward Waffle”, fourth in the 'Diner of the Dead' series, felt more like a novella than a full-length novel. It's Hallowe'en in Haunted Falls and diner owner Sonja Reed finds herself helping out at the festivities in local high school. A teenager goes missing from the Haunted House and there could be a serial killer on the loose. Sonja, of course, decides to investigate. It's not particularly good and rather too much space is given over to baking minutiae. 2.5 Stars, brought back to 2 Stars.
Though the mystery wasn’t terribly interesting, I did enjoy how they incorporated the slight supernatural influences in the book. There wasn’t must information about the mystery, or the victim, and I felt like most of the store was focused on Sonja’s love life. It would have been interesting to see more information about the murderer.
I loved this book. Even though Sonja can't leave well enough alone she is pretty good at this investigating thing. Can't wait to see where her love and investigations take her next
This is my actual 4th experience with this wonderful delightful author. These books go quick and a such fun to read. Yes there is the element of the ghosts that seem to haunted Sonja Reed. Whether it's a the Diner she co-owns with Allison or when she is involved with a murder investigation. This is about a Founders Day Picnic where the town chooses the a Founding Father who has a done something special for the town. There is the murder of a Veteran who was less then truthful. As usual Sonja sticks her nose in and helps the local Sheriff Thompson solve the case.
I recieved an ARC of this book in return for an honest review. This new series is one of my favorite to read. It has waffles and other breakfast food like bacon, need I say more??? Along with the great food, the characters are wonderful and it has the perfect touch of supernatural. Another really great part of this series and this book in particular is that Sonja, the main character is smart and relies on her own brain and observations to investigate without going crazy trying to find the murderer. This kbook in the series was great because it took place during the town's Founder's Day Picnic which made a great setting. Lots of people gathered, no on saw anything, and Sonja is getting a message from a ghost, what could be better? It also had the perfect touch of romance finally for her and it was really nice to see her realize her true feelings for the sheriff. Lol, it's about time. The recurring characters are delightful but the new ones added in for this murder are wonderful too, and there are enough characters to make the story lively without becoming overwhelming. I am really enjoying this series and hope that there are many new books added to it, I can seee a lot of potential for many more stories.
Meet Sonja and Allison, operators of The Waffle Diner and Eatery in Haunted Falls. While working from their booth at The Founder's Day Picnic, Sonja finds the body of one of the nominees for citizen of the year. Sonja is able to see and interact with ghosts and this really adds to the story line. Working with and without the help of Sheriff Thompson, Sonja is determined to solve the murder since she found the body with the help of a ghost. This is the first book I have read in this series and I really enjoyed it. There is enough background that everything made sense but made me want to read the first three books. I enjoyed the characters and the murder plot which had me guessing until the end. The paranormal aspect added to the appeal of the book without overshadowing it. This was a fast reading adventure that really pulled me into the story.
I received this book from the publisher. This is my honest opinion and fair review.

So I'm giving this book of 5 stars because I like to see that this is actually a paranormal book that I can read that actually has to do with paranormal. The fact that Sonja has started to show another side of herself made this book even better. I did find the book had a little bit too much description for me but that was okay. It was a very good story and it kept moving. It showed the detective side or amateur detective side of the main character as well as a love interest or more than one love interest. You did kind of know who the murderer was at least for myself earlier on however there were a couple of twists in the book and another side dtory that made this go very well. I can't wait to see what happens in book 5.
The Founder's Day picnic gives Sonya the opportunity to promote the Diner by having a breakfast booth. The rain doesn't keep away the crowds, instead they are all relocated in the community center where a prestigious award will be given to a local citizen. Of course, nothing goes as planned when a local veteran is found dead in the nearby woods. While doing a bit of investigative work Sonya also finds herself enjoying the company of two men. Her favorite photographer is back in town and suddenly she realizes that the sheriff has feelings for her, and she might just feel the same way.
Another great edition to this series. I look forward to each book.
This is another great book in The Diner of the Dead Series. This book was full of surprises that kept me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what was going to happen next. This book has Sonja being pulled in many directions that have her facing some harsh realities about herself and also push her to make some difficult decisions. I can't wait to see what will happen next!
I received a copy of this manuscript from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
This was a fun, spooky mystery! Sonja is busy selling waffles at the Founder's Day Picnic and a murder takes place. A ghostly apparition is giving her clues, which adds to the creepiness. Sonja is stuck in a love triangle and her choice of beaus is surprising. The killer was a mystery right up to the end. I received this ebook from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
I am loving this series more and more. Things are starting to get interesting in Sonja's love life. I can't wait to see what happens next.
Disclosure: I received this book free of charge from the publisher. This review is my honest opinion, and is in no way influenced by the author or publisher.
I was gifted this book in return for my honest review. Carolyn Hunter may be a new writer but her books make you think she's been doing this forever. This has a surprise twist that even I didn't see until the end. I'm more than positive you will love this book, I know I did.
Started out enjoying this series, but this book wasn't all that easy to get through. Not sure if it was the storyline, the writing, some of the grammar errors , or the character's wishy-washyness regarding who she wants to date ! Just couldn't get into this one at all .
Ghosts, Murder, and Romance Who Could ask for More,
What do you get when you combine one murder of a prominent citizen who's hiding a big secret, a fledgling romance, and one persistent ghost? Another addition to an already stellar series, book four in the Diner of the Dead series.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I love reading about the characters in this book, especially Sonja and Alison and their close friendship. Poor Sonja is back at finding dead bodies with the help of ghostly apparitions. This time the body is found while at The Founder's Day Picnic, where it seems two men are vying for her time and attention. Who will she choose?
This book was very good. I liked the new characters and the plot was great. Once you have a chance to start this book you need to have time to finish it. You won't want to stop.
A Wonderful storyline that keep me reading till I was done in one night. The characters were very colorful throughout the book. That had me guessing who was the murderer with every character that popped up .
