The book Endangered Oceans by Louise I. Gerdes ( Editor) is a non fiction book, which means it talks about facts, more specifically facts about the endangered oceans. This book also contains boxed quotations, debates, occasional cartoons , discussion and opinions different people around the world.
This is a interesting book about people, policy makers, government, it also included scientists, other experts who study about oceans, they argue, offer their opinions together helping to make a better, safer oceans, preventing extinctions on marines life,or pollution, and many other type of problems that might interfere to living things under the sea. Sometimes during these discussion about how to prevent the endangered oceans, had brought some big arguments enrage, frustration between two people who have different viewpoints but this happen because they all wanted one thing is to make the world of marines life to be safer.
I really enjoy this book as i reading it because this book has some facts that i saw as i flipping pages to pages that really catch my attention. Not only it interested me but i also learned a lot from it, and this knowledge became very useful to me, for a example ( During 1987 and 1988 the mor- billivirus killed about 750 bottle nose dolphins along beaches from New Jersey to Florida. ( 156). This evidence support my claim because from this fact, i gained a lot of knowledge that helped me understand how was the history of the dolphins like back to the time, and also i really interested in this fact as well. One another reason why i love this book because contains varieties of opinions from people with different self backgrounds. Sometime these opinions leading me to opposing or agree about it, but because of this content, i started to being a lot more actively in thinking while reading whether the opinion is right or wrong. From the book when it said " Human Activities Threaten the World's Oceans and Coastal Regions" - Anne Platte McGinn ( 32). This showing of of the opinion who thinks that human activities threaten the World's oceans, as a reader, this opinion made me think whether it's right or not, but afterward, i have to agree with this opinion because it's true that human's activities really made affect world's oceans, I agreed with Anne because as i keeping on reading, Anne actually uses other evidence that support her opinion like one of human's activity on oceans is when they fish so much that the the food chain under the marine ecosystem can't support one another, which will eventually leading a decreasing in the population of fish and other animals living under water, and so we all as whole will facing a big problem with lack of resources. I really like how the author set everything up that the reader can read, enjoy and teaches interesting facts and make them do a lot of thinking as they exploring different opinions.
I definitely recommend this book to people who interested learning about the oceans, more specifically the problems that preventing the oceans from growing and become healthier. So no doubt this is the best choice, this book contains all the contents that are on your list of interests.
Arguments, data, records, opinions, cartoons from different people around the world, it will be a helpful book to those of who wanting to be a scientists. You will learned a lot of facts about oceans in the past and future that you might not know. So don't be afraid for a try !.
