Sasha Marshall

Sasha Marshall is a romance author with an inexplicable attraction to fictional men who probably wouldn’t return her texts in real life. Before channeling her attention deficit disorder into crafting happily-ever-afters, she spent her days as a professional herder of teenagers—think cats, but with more attitude and fewer survival instincts. Prior to that therapeutic experience, she documented the slow descent into madness that comes with touring alongside The Allman Brothers Band, wielding her camera like a weapon against sleep deprivation and questionable tour bus hours.

These days, when she’s not forcing her characters into compromising positions (literally—it’s called “romantic tension”), you can find her being emotionally manipulated by her two dogs, pretending her loved ones don’t secretly judge her book covers, engaging in crafts that look nothing like the Pinterest inspiration, or orchestrating literary chaos through Hot & Steamy Events—because apparently organizing book signings is what passes for a social life in the romance world.

She writes about bad boys with tattoos because, let’s face it, someone has to give these fictional delinquents the character development they desperately need.

5+++++ Stars for this book but then again I don’t expect anything less from Sasha Marshall since she is THE rock romance author who writes unbelievably fantastic books that know how to bring these people in to your life. This book does come with a warning though just like a ride on a roller coaster would because that’s the emotional ride you will feel by reading Johnny and Noely’s story. Marshall writes in a way that will have you laughing your a** off one minute and then a couple pages later you have the freakin’ ugly cry happening which is astounding because she can take you to such places so fast and has you feel so completely involved with these people in this book.

Noely’s story is one of heartbreak and strength because even as a child she has a dad who walked out on her and her mom when she was eight and then mom dies when she is twelve and she is left to live with a lecherous stepfather. They say there is good and bad in everything and in this case all of this bad turned into something so good because this is when Johnny asks his dad if Noely can come live with them since she was running and hiding on the street. The bond that these two had was shown with such ardent love and caring for one another that you could see that this was the basis for everything that was to come their way. Besides Johnny and Noely within this inner circle of friendship there was also Jimmy, Rich and Ryan. These boys looked after Noely from the very start and she was always included in everything they did which in time included helping the boys get their rock band Blood Feather off the ground. She was there until she graduated college pushing and pimping these boys and their career was really beginning to take off. It wasn’t long until their first time out on the road became a reality but reality smacked Noely right in the a** because she wouldn’t be going out with them. The closeness that they all shared was something very special but it was also during this time that Johnny’s feelings for Noely took a turn. At some point his friendship had taken on a different outlook and that was something that he kept hidden because he didn’t want to scare Noely away. Noely also had feelings for Johnny but she didn’t know how to deal with things because Noely never knew who she was herself. She went on a deep soul searching adventure when the boys left on the road…she had to, things had just happened with Johnny that had put her life in even more turmoil than what she has had to deal with ever since she was a child.

Can good friendships be broken by crossing that line and if it is crossed what happens when events keep throwing another curve ball at you? This book is written from Noely’s viewpoint in the first half and if you have ever had any hardships or loss or have dealt with depression Ms. Marshall hits your heart and hits it hard. Johnny is struggling and everything goes from bad to worse from decisions he has made. You are waiting for him to man the he** up and get his sh*t together. But this is where the genius of Marshall comes in because you know how there are always two sides to every story and how you shouldn’t judge people unless you walk in their shoes, Ms. Marshall now gives you Johnny’s point of view and it made me feel so judgmental. I was passing judgment on Johnny without knowing the “whole” story. You get to see Johnny’s side now as to how things went down and that guy who I thought was a big cretin has turned into something totally different. Boy, talk about whiplash! I thought that emotionally in the first part of the book by being taken to some of the funniest stuff ever to taking your heart out and stomping the he** out of it. Now Johnny’s part comes and it makes you realize how quick you are to judge. Oh, don’t get me wrong; the boy was an a** quite often and sometimes with the help of those around him.

Again, this book was exceptional and be prepared to be taken to some of the highest highs and the lowest lows all the while getting to go on a ride with a rock band that is on their way to the big times. It seems that writing reviews on Ms. Marshall’s work is extremely hard because since I am not a writer I always feel that I’m lacking in trying to get the message across that her books are the best that’s out there. The writing is phenomenal because she knows how to take you places that leaves you exhausted by the time you are done not only emotionally but physically as well since I finished at 3 a.m. this morning. Lol I am so looking forward to more from Noely and the Blood Feather boys and if you haven’t read her Guitar Face series do yourself a favor and read them as well and I think you will understand what I am trying to say in these reviews.

This book was provided as an ARC from an honest review.

I am still processing this one. Sasha Marshall tends to have that effect on me. That is certainly not a bad thing - it means she hits me where few other authors, few other people in general, ever have. She has an amazing way of taking us on emotional rollercoaster, blindfolded. You just don't realize you are climbing toward the peak, and the bottom falls out when you least expect it. But she manages to do so with the most wonderful sense of humor - I swear I end up with as many tears from laughing so hard I am losing bodily fluids as I do from having my heart shredded. But after she shreds the heart she puts it back together, in a better way than it started out....eventually. And perhaps my very favorite thing about her writing style is the raw reality. Every character seems so real; I always leave her books feeling like I have rediscovered long lost friends, ones that will never been far from my heart again.

Okay, so that first paragraph I feel is very important, I realize it doesn't exactly go into any specifics about Under the Cornerstone. While I am not ready to let go of Kipley and Jag send the rest of the gang, I have definitely made room in my heart for the Blood Feather family. (In my opinion the best bands always have that family feel, and in the realm of fictional bands, that is almost a universal truth. There is good reason for that; it works.) Our heroine, Noely, is definitely a part of the band even if she does not play an instrument or sing or have any job on the stage. She has been with the guys since they formed the band, and has always been their biggest fan and biggest supporter. They all came up on the rough streets of Brooklyn, and this seems to be a perfect place for Ms. Marshall's beautiful smartass side to come out and play.

Noely, Noe, Noely Baby....our heroine has had a pretty awful hand of cards dealt her in life, but Johnny has been her knight in shining leather since they were 12. Then came Jimmy and Rich and Ryan, making up the band and their own family. I will admit I was told that I would love Jimmy before I started reading, and it is true - I have a mad love for his crazy butt. I guess the best way to sum it up is to include this little snippet of a conversation between Noe and Johnny:
"“Hey, I made a bucket list.”
“Did Jimmy help you?” he asks with humor in his voice.
“No. But come to think of it, I should totally ask for his input,” I quip.
His response comes out rushed, “Don’t do that!”
“Of course I will.”
“Did you add getting arrested to your bucket list?” he asks.
“No, but in the right circumstances, I’m not opposed to being arrested,” I admit with a grin.
“You do know that if you’re arrested it will be with Jimmy?”
“Of course. I wouldn’t want to go to jail with anyone else.”
“You two can’t hang out unsupervised anymore,” he advises.""
Does that tell you enough about Jimmy? I kind of think it does. I could absolutely hear his Brooklyn accent, and see the attitude radiating off of him, and I definitely fell in love. I remember that he is really tall, but I don't remember much more about his physical description, because his personality is just so huge. You know I won't go into spoilers, but just remember to have your tissue when clowns are mentioned. I practically needed Depends for that one. I am trying to decide if that one or Kip's elaborate Joe has Malaria scenario tastes the prize for best literary prank ever - either way the title goes to Sasha Marshall.

I also fell in love with Johnny - it was pretty much impossible not to fall in love with Johnny. I am sure I will not be the only girl who reads this book and wishes she had a Johnny in her life, especially through her teenage years. My husband is my Johnny these days, but he didn't really fill that role until I was 33. He has done a great job, but I can only imagine having that from age 12 - how different things could have been, but Noely is a lucky, lucky lady.

Watching Noely's personal growth throughout this book was beautiful too.

Can't wait for more about both of them, Rich and Ryan, and, of course Jimmy.

My very highest recommendation for the over 18 crowd, and Ms. Marshall has the vocabulary of a soldier on leave, and writes really hot steamy parts, and writes them very well. This one will definitely be in my top 6 of 2016, and could possibly take the top spot.

Beyond 5 Stars
What happens when you and your best friend cross the line? Does your relationship change? Is the change worth the heartache of knowing things will never be the same? In order to get beyond the past, you must dig into yourself and wonder how did I get to the point that led up to this. This is the story of Johnny Rome & Noely King, friends since childhood when unspeakable events had Johnny's dad take Noely in to live with them. They are thick as thieves growing up along with their best friends Jimmy, Ryan & Rich. Johnny, Ryan & Rich form a band with Noely & Jimmy acting as manager and agent until they become the biggest thing Brooklyn NY has ever seen. With fame comes women and Johnny is not shy showing his appreciation. Right before they are to go on tour Noely goes through something that will change the dynamics of her and Johnny's friendship - Forever.
A soul searching, heart wretching story that can only be told by the incomparable Sasha Marshall. This story is packed with emotions from tears of sorrow to tears of laughter. Great supporting characters and I dare you not to fall in love with Jimmy. I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.

Completely Bloody Fantastic!!!

If you loved Guitar Face, you will definitely love "Under the Cornerstone." If you love a story where the love is messy and raw, the kind of love that makes you do really stupid sh*t, then you will definitely love "Under the Cornerstone." If you love characters that are hot and imperfect, well....you get the gist.

This is another rock star ensemble for Marshall and the characters leap off of the pages and become so real, you really want to call one up to just talk about things. Johnny is the boy who instead of bringing home a lost stray animal at 12, brings home a girl that needed a home. Little did he know that he would be the one lost without her.

I can't say anymore without giving things away, but definitely worth your time and a decent bottle of wine to go with it.

ARC review from author

Wow this was an amazing story! It blew my mind. Noe and Johnny journey together was emotional for me, I cry for a lot of reasons no matter what, but this book made me cry hard. Noe was character that you couldn't help to what to stand by her and help her. I don't how I feel about Johnny. He was the bigger emotional mess out the couple to me. I found it sweet at times, then I wanted to slap in face too at times.

I like how this story was inspired by a song. I sometimes find else listening to music and think how this song would play in a book. I'm not much of a writer, but have an active imagination. I haven't heard this song, at least think so, but a fan of Highly Suspect.

Thanks Sasha for a beautiful story and look forward to the future books of your.

And to the others who reading this review. Check out Guitar Face series from Sasha Marshall. They're Freaking awsome!!!

Ok so first off I am a huge fan of Sasha Marshall and the Guitar face series was one of my absolute favorite series. That being said when I started reading Under the cornerstone I will admit that I was definitely expecting a lot but WOW this story blew me away. I could not put it down once I started reading I absolutely fell in love with Noely and Johnny. You get the background story for them in this story because they have been best friends since they were little and you get to experience with them the challenges they faced as they grew up. The secondary characters were Amazing especially jimmy they will make you laugh so hard you will cry. It was definitely a roller coaster ride of emotions but definitely worth it. You don't want to miss out on this amazing story by this amazing author I cant wait for more. Phenomenal Story.

Must Read

I am a huge fan of Sasha's. Her stories will pull out every emotion you can invoke and she will slowly put you back together through her storytelling journey.
Under the Cornerstone is no different than her previous stories. It left me breathless from laughing, tired from screaming, and sore from yanking my heart out. Don't worry though, there is a HEA it just takes the raw real road to get there.
Noley - she is such a multifaceted character. I love her journey through life. The trials she faces and how she comes to see home.
Johnny - man I wanted to smack my kindle up his head sometimes! He is very well written and not your typical alpha male. He makes a lot of mistakes but in the end those mistakes help him to become an amazing person.
Jimmy - he is the comedic act of this story. I got a stomach ache from laughing so hard at his antics!!!
Overall this story will bring out your worst but leave you with your best. It's a must read and own.

One-Click NOW!!!

Sasha Marshall does it again! Another amazing book, and hopefully the start to another amazing series. Noelly goes through so much pain and suffering in her life, with her family of friends by her side, but mostly her best friend Johnny. Johnny and Noe cross a line into lovers, a line that cannot be uncrossed. Will they ever be the same? Can Noelly find out who she is as a person, and what she wants for her life, when her best friends go on tour with their band? Full of love, laughter and sexy times, this book will have you questioning if your own metamorphosis is possible. Don't miss out on this fantastic read! Now I have to wait to read more about Noelly, Johnny, Jimmy, Ryan and Rich.... I adore Noelly Baby and Johnny Love, but I absolutely loved Jimmy Boo! More Please!!!

Ahhh Sasha Marshall where to begin... I found guitar face by chance and literally read all five books within 48hours... the least productive days of my life! They are by far the best rockstar books I've read. So when I heard she had a new book out I was beyond excited. I didn't think it could be as good as the guitar face series but it works because it's different. I loved the characters and especially Jimmy with the whole leg situation. I cannot wait for the next one!

This emotional, friends-to-lovers romance was an angst junkie’s wet dream come true! It had the back & forth that twists up your insides, the crazy b****es that like to cause trouble, the hot reunion sex that melts your panties & a colorful group of best friends that burst with personality. I didn’t want to put it down, yet I had to at times so I wouldn’t throw my kindle at the wall!!

My heart hurt for Noely & Johnny on so many different levels. They really did have one of those epic, rock n’ roll romances that refused to die. You could feel the frustration, love, laughter & sadness through the pages.

Noely Baby… I was so proud of her for taking the bull by the horns & bettering herself, for herself. Watching her blossom was amazingly beautiful. Loved the friendships she cultivated with Sabrina & Roxy (those girls were abso-freakin’-lutely AWESOME) & her new career choice. Sure, I was a bit miffed when she high-tailed it across the country but at the same time, I couldn’t really blame her for doing it. When the BIG fall-out happened, I have to admit… I died a little bit inside. So, so thankful for that wedding & Jimmy’s creative thinking later on!

Johnny Love… I have to say, reading his POV was tough at times. I liked getting his side of things but the screwing other girls, the excuses & the crying got old… fast. I don’t think I’ve ever met a leading man who cries so much BUT… I understood the reasoning behind some of it. My heart did go out to him for the suffering he went through but I still wanted to junk punch him on more than one occasion. He couldn’t man up soon enough in my book but when he did it was FANTASTIC.

I was thrilled to bits that these two weathered storm after storm (& me too!) because when they came together, like full-on happily ever after together, it was beautiful.

Looking forward to more books in this series! Can’t wait to see Jimmy fall head over heels, as well as Ryan & Rich!! More Sabrina & Roxy would be fabulous too! :)

Ok I am going to get real here because I don't even know where to start with this review but please be patients with me I will get there.

First off Sasha Marshall is a new author to me and I have to say she has BLOWN ME AWAY!!! Literally, I had to sleep on this before I could begin to write the review.

There are many romance books out in the literary world and there are many types of those romance books that have HEA or not, in series or not and in just I saw you I fell in love and BOOM it is a HEA Romance. Not with this author, Under the Cornerstone is about love at first sight and it ends with a HEA but everything in the middle is what sets this apart from the rest to make it an amazing book!!

Ms. Marshall's characters are flawed which makes them real, real allows you to connect with each of them and that connections elicits emotions and those emotions are real everyday things that we as humans experience. This story is about a group of friends who have had a rougher upbringing then most but they have stuck together through thick and thin and are living their dream as Rockstars. The love story is between Johnny and Noely and let me tell you their story is true love it is what love is made of and that my fellow readers is hard work, sweat, tears, hurt, fix it all up with love kindness respect and then repeat it all over again and again. Love is not easy it is far from it, it requires constant attention and it is one of the most hurtful things, because as the saying goes we hurt the ones we love the most and that is because we are close enough to do it and close enough to fix it.

If you are looking for a real romance based on real emotion that many of us have experienced then this is the book for you. Yes is it about Rockstars it is but not like you may think, it is a long road in this book because the first part is written in Noely's POV and the second is written in Johnny's POV but this was an amazing way to tell the whole story so that can feel the FEELS and know exactly what they were thinking as things unravel. Thank you Author Sasha Marshall for writing an amazing love story that I could relate to, I hope I am able to read more about this amazing group of friends in the future!!!

Sasha Marsall is my go to author and there is definitely a reason for that! She can write the hell out of a good story! So when I found out she had a new series coming out I about wet my pants with joy! I definitely was not disappointed! For me I love a good story but I got more, so much more out of this book. I was introduced to an amazing artist, Bansky, that I had to google while reading and fell in love with some of his work. I now have a new book that is on my wish list to be read very soon. The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka. The prologue of the story I read not once but twice because of the impact it had on me before moving to chapter one. Emotions are running high and at times you feel like you are walking a tight rope with no net below to catch you.
I would love to give you more about this story but fear of giving too much away has me stopping. Just know Noely is our kick a@# lead girl and Johnny is our misunderstood a@# of a guy. Have the tissues ready. The hard liquor on stand by. Forget sleep but hopefully not the kids. Be ready to be done so good by Sasha!
While your at it if you haven't checked out Guitar Face you must do that as soon as you finish this book- so go get those one clicking fingers busy!

Under the Cornerstone by Sasha Marshall
This was an emotional roller coaster of a read. What happens when you have been each there for fifteen years but you are in the friendship zone? Noely constant in her life has been Johnny and the men from Blood feathers. She has been with them from the start and they all love her but Johnny is in love with her. He cannot bear to lose her so he won’t cross the line until eventually he does. Circumstances leave them in a pickle of being angry with one another and emotionally hurt. Can they ever go back to what they were? Do they want to? This one was a very enjoyable read and the first half of the book I kept thinking Johnny was a bit of an idiot. However he redeemed himself in the second half of the book, which was told from his point of view. The characters were strong and I really had some good laughs regarding Jimmy. Overall I enjoyed the books, the characters were strong and complex. Secondary characters were well developed and played an important part in the story. The story line was strong and held your attention.

I absolutely LOVED this book. Sasha Marshall has such a great way of writing a story and sucking you in from the very first word. The great relationship that Noely has with the boys from the Blood Feather band and how they look out for her and love her. She had a great relationship with Johnny from grade school and it kept getting strong as they got older. The book is full of sarcasm and jokes and I found myself laughing out loud. It was full of heart and soul and I also found myself in tears. And, the scenes with Jimmy and his broken leg.... come on! Oh Jimmy, so funny, but such heart too! I can't say enough about Sasha Marshall and her books. I love them all and can't wait to read more about Jimmy, Johnny, Noely and the rest of the gang. Hurry up with the next books!! :)

I had the honor of reading this book. This is my first book by Sasha, it will not be my last, a story of true love with all the tears and angst.Noely and Johnny both suffer from abandonment issues. The two seem to abandon each other unintentionally a few times. But in the end true love prevails. All of the secondary characters are awesome, one big happy family. Also one I wish I was part of. Noely seems to be the glue that holds the group together. This charming book brought me many smiles and a few tears. I look forward to the next one in this series but in the mean time I will check out Sasha's other series. This was a true 5 star read-----Carolyn for Book Haven Book Blog
