Rachel Wesson was born in Kilkenny, Ireland but considers herself to be from the capital, Dublin as that's where she spent most of her life. Her dad brought Rachel and her two sisters out every Saturday to give their mother a break. He took them to the library and for ice-cream after. It took a long time for her sisters to forgive her for the hours she spent choosing her books!
She grew up driving everyone nuts asking them questions about what they did during the War or what side they were on in the 1916 rising etc. Finally her Granny told her to write her stories down so people would get the pleasure of reading them. In fact what Granny meant was everyone would get some peace while Rachel was busy writing!
When not writing, or annoying relatives, Rachel was reading. Her report cards from school commented on her love of reading especially when she should have been learning. Seems you can't read Great Expectations in Maths. After a doomed love affair and an unpleasant bank raid during which she defended herself with a tea tray, she headed to London for a couple of years. (There is a reason she doesn't write romance!). She never intended staying but a chance meeting with the man of her dreams put paid to any return to Ireland. Having spent most of her career in the City, she decided something was missing. Working in the City is great but it's a young person's dream. Having three children you never see isn't good for anyone. So she packed in the job and started writing. Thanks to her amazing readers, that writing turned into a career far more exciting and rewarding than any other.
Rachel lives in Surrey with her husband and three children, two boys and a girl. When not reading, writing or watching films for "research" purposes, Rachel likes to hang out with her family. She also travels regularly back home - in fact she should have shares in BA and Aerlingus.

Ellen O'Callaghan returns from University to Clover Springs. She is homesick and not enjoying University. She also returns to her position as school teacher, replacing Laura who is close to having a baby. Her memories of Samuel Higgins also pulls her home.

Samuel Higgins works on Davy Sullivan's ranch. When Ellen was young, he tenderly helped her overcome bad memories from Ireland. Samuel understands bad memories. He witnessed his father's murder by indians when he was only six years-old. Samuel is attracted to Ellen, but she is educated and ten years his junior. What would a school teacher want with a man with a learning disability.

Both are too shy to take the first step. But friends help them get together.

Wonderful story with a dramatic event that almost takes both of their lives.

An another wonderful book in this series to be read and enjoyed. I've been so interested in this series and their lives. This is the story of how a sweet little town and their growth of how so many people learn to end their predicaments can change.

good story but,

The story was good and the characters well developed, however there were several places the story didn’t follow the storyline correctly, better editing would be amazing.

Choices for happiness

This story is very good gripping with twists and turns. Ellen loves a young man back home. She’s going to the university but her feelings make her return home. So many things happen that I had a hard time putting this book down.

Great read and clean storyline.

Fun summer read. Ellen’s story is so sweet and all the characters are so really. You can see some of them in your friends. The story shows that the outside others see is less important than the true selves people see in us.

I love this series of books. I don't always like the way the characters behave, and want to slap them sometimes, I'm always glad when the stories end well.

Ellen (Clover Springs Mail Order Brides Book 6) by Rachel Wesson

I received this book for free in exchange for a fair review. Reviews posted on Goodreads and Amazon by Cindy Nipper

I absolutely love this book!!! Sweet Ellen, Katie’s little sister, is all grown up and living the dream of being the first from Clover Springs to go to college. But whose dream is it when all she wants is to be back home with her family, her beloved Clover Springs and a certain man? Can she tell her sister the truth; that she’s homesick and in love with a man, who she believes, still thinks of her as a young needy little girl? Can Samuel move away to California to help his brother mine for gold? Will he stand up for what he wants or will his devotion be to his brother’s dreams? Will Mrs. Higgins be able to keep her grown boys near her? This book has my favorite character making a surprise visit, which I hope is a permanent move! Ellen is my favorite from the whole series, but I think I say that all the time! True love awaits for those who are brave enough to choose their own dreams over those expected of them! I don’t usually quote books, but this one is a keeper, “You don’t have to live the dream if that dream has turned into a nightmare.” I can’t wait to find out what happens to Hope House and the other orphans! I hope you find this tale as intriguing as I did and if you haven’t read the others yet, you need to check out the entire series, I’ve truly enjoyed them all!

Rachel Wesson brings another book to the table that does not disappoint! As all of the books in the Clover Springs series, this book is just as good as the rest.

I really enjoyed this book and how it was different from the typical mail order bride books. The two main characters, Ellen and Samuel, grew up together and already knew each other. I thought the way the characters came together after fighting their attraction was done nicely. It shows that no matter the circumstances and what your plans are, God always has a plan that you can’t fight against. The way that the orphanage was brought into the story added to the story and really shows that there are people with a heart out in the world even though you always have the grumpy negative people as well.

I was saddened by the tragedy and thought there was no way that anyone can get past it. I was wrong! The town came together and didn’t let it get them down. They were determined and showed that through perseverance that you can overcome a tragedy and see the light at the end of the tunnel. I loved how the ending played out. I think it was perfect for the situation.

If you like a sweet romance that will send you through several emotions, then you need to grab not only this book but the series. You will not be disappointed. Enjoyable and great read!

This was another great story of one of the girls that were from the Boston orphanage. Ellen's story had a lot of surprises and feelings in it.
We get to see an old friend who played a big part in all of their lives.
Ellen and Samuel face a lot of challenges. They both have their pride, but love each others wishes even more.
I love these individual stories of each girl, but also get to see the others too. Clover Springs is a "family" town and growing with more family coming to live.
Look forward to the next book . Highly recommend this series!
(I was given this book for an honest review, but ended up buying it because it was so good.)

I just want to move to Clover Springs. Ellen has returned home with a secret, or two. Her secret love for Samuel and she can't return to school. The road to love between the two has a few unexpected sharp turns. I enjoyed returning to the series with this book and the author. Two new secondary characters are introduced and Bertram really needs a trip to the woodshed.

Nice addition to the series.

(I received a copy of the book from the author for a review.)

Orphans

Ellen went away to Boulder to the University. She came home early. Samuel was on love with her since she first came to Clover Springs. You are in for quite the ride to see if they actually get together. Oh and don't forget to add Father Malloy and an orphanage into the mix. Enjoy!

Lessons learned. Never underestimate yourself. A few stolen kisses go a long way. Don't let the girl you love get away because you are less educated. A priest and a reverend make great allies. Town busybodies can get their comeuppance. Store fireworks safely. Ma's pies solve many of life's problems. Be humble. Say yes and mean it.

Wonderful series!

I love a good western romance. This series is about the lives of several young orphans and how they overcame sorrows and mistreatment of their young lives with the help of a wonderful priest, loving young men, and the people of a great little western town. I can't wait for the next book! Not to be pushy but, hurry Rachel!

First one I've read in this series and I real!y like it. The. Close knit town with Christian values but when those values are really put to the test at the town meeting can the town agree or do their personal prejudices get in the way.
