Side Chicks don’t know their place… but one wife is here to remind them of where they belong. Remember when side chicks were undercover and ashamed of the men they slept with? Those days are long gone. Side bitches are bold in their quest to steal husbands and boyfriends without any remorse. But their reign is about to end! Nova is the loving wife of Tyriq. No matter how well he treats her, he can’t help his wandering eye. When his mistress threatens to unravel their perfect life. Nova takes matters into her own hand. Aoki is the self professed queen of the side chicks. Without any guilt she uses married men for money, but it comes at a steep price. Eventually she learns that what she is doing is wrong but will it be too late? Skye is the sister of Nova and the best friend of Aoki. She is trying to follow the example of her sister by being a doting wife. But Aoki’s influence is surely tempting. Follow the lives of these young women as they navigate through betrayal, sex, relationships and purely crazy drama!
Quick read. If you are looking for fluff for the holidays and ghetto-drama, this is a perfect read for you.
Too many profanities, degradation of women, patriarchal attitudes and girl-on-girl unnecessary violence. Definitely not my cup of tea. Read like a very bad low-budget movie.
This was so good!! Them trifling men & side chicks!! I'm bout to scoop up book 2 & hope that it isn't too long before part 3 comes out. I read this book in just a few hours. Couldn't put it down.
When it seems too good to be true; well, you know. That's the story of nearly every relationship in this book. Mothers aren't who they should be, friends are not really that, and lovers don't REALLY love one another. A lot happens here, too much maybe, in such a short story. Two sisters learn that their mother is someone they never predicted, a friendship is tested, and all kinds of intimate relationships are torn apart. The twists here seem thrown in, the ending, rushed. The book is great for an evening read, not so much for great literary discourse
If I could write omg over and over as a review I would lol. This book was definitely a page turner. Nova's antics shocked me! Tyriq ain't shit! And that ending with Skye.....babyyyyyy I can't wait to read part 2. This is the type of book that will have you questioning the most faithful man and looking at him sideways.
Wow. I literally read all three of the books in this series in one night. As soon as I finished the first one, I needed the second one, and as soon as I read the second one, I had to purchase the third. None of the books disappointed. These two authors are surely a “Dynamic Duo”. I would DEFINITELY read another book or series by them. The story was crafted so perfectly, with each character being multidimensional, a perfect combination between clear fiction and reality… I could go on and on, but for anyone looking for a well written story, which is unfortunately rare in many subgenres these days, GO FOR THESE BOOKS. I look forward to any further collaborations or individual works by these authors.
I chose this rating be cause it was kind of like a teen hood story. It also had unfinished sentences and missing words...but it was an ok read. I would read more from the author.
What can I say my jaw dropped when I read the end poor girl men will tell you anything just to get what he wants I would love to tell the story but I can't this is a must read
It was a great read! It had some mistakes in it but it didn't not stop the story from flowing! It was wonderful I can't wait to read number two!!!!!!!!!
WOW!!! This book was most definitely a page turner. I can't wait until part 2. I have a love hate relationship with Amazon when they offer the free books but the other parts of the series aren't free. Well let me go order the next in the series because this series I'm willing to spend my money on. GO READ THESE BOOKS NOW!!
Love, Love, Loved this book. The wisdom is buried deep regarding mother-daughter relations, husband-wife issues, trust and side piece games. The story is weaved from details about each chatacter and unfolds into their interconnections. Nova's father finds her, Skye meets a gentleman and receives funds for school after her mother bails on her at the last minute, Tyriq is caught up in excuses everywhere, Aoki remains careless and challenges anyone who tries to reason w her. I strongly recommend this book because of its realness and insight into love and relationships from different ties.
The story itself was pretty good. But I kept getting distracted by the grammatical and other errors. I wish they would have had a better editor. I hope that the other books in the series are better.
It was a quick read that held my interest. It had expected and unexpected turns. I am still looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
Nova is one cold piece of work. We often wonder how people become so hard. Well it usually goes back to family and the people you love and trust. Once that trust is broken, you never love the same way again.
Hopefully Skye can get past her disappointments. But I see her cutting up in the future. The innocent, naive young girl is destined to grow up fast.
The book has a few grammatical errors toward the end but not enough to keep my mouth from hanging open! Nova, Miss I Got Everything Altogether, was having trouble in paradise and had a secret that should never ever get out! Married to the “man of her dreams” Tyriq maybe more than what she’s prepared to face.
Her sister, Skye is naive as a 2-year old but I can’t wait to see what happens with her and Quan. Skye’s used to be best friend Aoki was drama all by herself. Aoki is the side chick to many and she’s ok with her role as long as she doesn’t have to work to hard.
Chop, an old friend of Tyriq’s and Aoki’s old boss has plans for them both. I don’t think this hustler is one to be played with.
I didn't realize this was a book series. I got the first book free from Amazon. It was well constructed with a host of interesting characters. Nova one of the main protagonists who hated side chicks, but by the authors hands, her personality changed abruptly. Too abrupt for my taste, to the point it was unbelievable for me. I wish the author would have flushed her out more. The storyline was excellent. A can't put down book, but I wish it was a book that could stand on its own. Now I have to buy part 2 to see what happens with the cliffhanger. I wish authors didn't do this. A new way to get you to buy their books. They sell a book in parts. I will look for the book in the library, if I can't find it, I guess I will imagine an ending to my own taste.
I may have said this already in another review and sadly I must say it again. As I read these (free) urban fiction soap operas, there's a dragging sameness to them all. Most if not all of the cast of female characters seem to have only one goal in life and that is to hook up with a rich man who will take care of them. I don't want to say these women are too lazy to take care of themselves but... there it is. Is it too much to ask for a refreshing change? To have a woman with a different ambition. Something like, I don't know, exploring the Mariana Trench, fighting City Hall, winning a hot dog eating championship. Something different.
I wanted to like this book but I despise cliffhangers. The plot was okay for what it is, the book is all about cheating men and it has a lot of (sometimes unnecessary) drama. I like the MC and would have liked to know how things worked out for her but I refuse to buy the next book on principle - not one thing was resolved. Some of the sex scenes are ridiculous, and not in a good way.
The writing wasn't always great, the phase, "causing her to," repeated several times, but overall the writing didn't get in the way of the story too much.
This was an OK read. Cliched characters, a few grammatical errors. The best part was Nova turning sociopathic. It was an unexpected twist. Other than that, the characters weren't fleshed out. It seemed to be just a series of scenes dedicated to cheating and in fighting between family, couples, and friends with a sprinkle of suspense thrown in (Aoki's brother and her situation with Chop?). Hopefully that was his name. Aoki is an unlikable character. But then again, mostly everyone is with the exception of Skye. It's a quick read. Depending on what you're looking for not sure I would recommend. I might read the 2nd somewhere down the line. 2.5 stars for the cliffhanger ending.
Not to give the goods to this book away. Just from the title of the book had me thinking this book would be a can't wait page turner. The beginning, middle and ending is well written. If you are one to visualize what you're reading as I do, you should enjoy this read. Each word can be clearly envisioned with every single moment in this book. Theirs characters that has up front day to day open drama and the others has hidden drama that they were soon to be aware of. This story doesn't stop with this book, there is a Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Side Chicks 2 and 3 to feed your craving for more. I have read both of them. Enjoyed them all.
Very intriguing and will have you on the edge of your seat. I cant wait to see how everything unfolds with Nova and her problems. Is her husband going to get caught up with Aoki? Will she be the next person Nova "handles"? I feel so bad for Skye. She really wants to lead a clean path in life full of love and happiness but she cant't now because this sucka ass dude Quan played her. Smh I hope she can break away from eventually because i know its going to be hard.
I didn't know this was the first part of a series, and it ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. Too bad :( but I liked this book, tons of drama and twists and turns I didn't see coming. You never can decide which narrator or character to side with, or which view the author wants you to sympathize with. Ultimately I think you kind of sympathize with everyone or at least hope they make out all right, but you also have to side eye some of their decisions lols. If I can I will read the rest of the series soon.
I was looking for something different out of my normal genres of books. This certainly fits the bill. The story was entertaining and I liked that many of the places mentioned were in my hometown (I didn't know that when I started reading, it was free in Apple books). Too much profanity for me and there was only one likable character. I'm going to read the other books because I'm curious as to how the story will end and what the other's purpose of this book was. I get the feeling that it's meant to be a cautionary tale than just pure entertainment. I'm not sure as of yet.
This is crazy how do you kill your mom and play it off and the dude you married is a bum like Nova said. When was everything Aoki said Skye just didn't know over she gives in now. I feel so sorry for her. I hope he doesn't do her wrong. Wiki will get what's coming to her and so will Throw unfortunately. Not my usual kind of read but it wasn't a bad read I want to know what happens with the moms husband though. Smh scandalous ppl
