Video game coder, Harley Kelso, thought a tandem skydive would help her make her latest game more realistic. Instead, it literally put her in the arms of the sexiest man she’s ever seen. Geeky to the core, Harley is the polar opposite of big and burly Beckett, but that doesn’t stop her from wanting to play more carnal games with the sexy soldier.
When Beckett “Coach” Ralston offers to fill-in at a friend’s skydiving club, he doesn’t suspect he’ll meet a woman who will change his life—and he definitely doesn’t expect her to save it. But that’s exactly what happens when an accident mid-air forces Harley to land them both safely. She’s earned Coach’s complete gratitude, and even more, sexual interest…
Until she disappears without a trace.
With Harley missing, a happy ending might not be in the cards for the man who loves her—especially when he becomes the main suspect.
** Rescuing Harley is the 3rd book in the Delta Force Heroes Series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.
New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author, Susan Stoker has a heart as big as the state of Tennessee where she lives, but this all American girl has also spent the last fourteen years living in Missouri, California, Colorado, Indiana, and Tennessee. She's married to a retired Army man who now gets to follow her around the country.
I await each Susan Stoker book with excitement. Rescuing Harley was no exception! Loved the story line. Coach and Harley were perfect! You go through all the feels , laughter, tears, sighs, anger, and everything in between. When an author can pull all of your emotions from beginning to end, you have a winner that you want to read again, and again. Hunky Alpha military men, tuff, sweet, women with beautiful souls. I will always think of Coach and Harley when I play Bejeweled! We also get to visit with the other guys, and a teaser of Hollywood's book! Winner winner chicken dinner!
The beginning of the book was fantastic! I was thoroughly entertained and excited about what was going to happen in the rest of the book.
It
fell
Flat
Susan took us on this high. LITERALLY! We were parachuting. Then it was like someone threw rocks at our parachute and created a hole and we began to sink faster and faster.
It's unfortunate because the beginning really is fantastic.
So this was super sweet. The heroine was a total nerd. Endearing most of the time, but a little annoying at others. The hero was a bit too perfect, however that is prototype for this series. The action up front was good. The suspense at the end was a bit ridiculous, but added something to the story so it worked for me.
I cannot predict whether people will like the book or not. Some will find the heroine too annoying, the hero too perfect, the dialogue too much ( I know that does not make sense - but it just feels like they verbally express themselves more than normal). However, I choose to live in romanceville and that allows me to be ok with things like this.
I have very few auto buy authors but Susan Stoker is one of them. The heroes are either military or public servants, all alpha! The heroines are usually somehow in danger, yet tough enough to fight some. (From experience, that is what makes a military /public servant's spouse survive)
Although they normally aren't as steamy as I would prefer, this one had some really hot scenes. We also got a glimpse of the rest of the Delta team and their loved ones (can't wait for the wedding next month!)
-no cheating or ow/om drama whatsoever -no pushing away -great hero/heroine -just ok epilogue - please let them be in other stories, or better yet, novellas about them.
*had it been a bit steamier, with a better epilogue, this would have been 5 stars for me!
I received a copy of this book for an honest review and here it is! So much of this story hits very close to home for me and I have to give kudos to Susan for treating it with care. (Don't want to spoil it for other readers by giving away too much) Coach and Harley are a perfect fit for each other. The only bad thing about a Susan Stoker book is that once you start reading one of her books, you can't put it down and before you know it, your done with it and have to wait, what seems a lifetime for the next one!!
It had me at female video game coder.. sweet story. The suspense was kind of eh but this author is suspense romance and I appreciate she didn't have a random kidnapping just to fit the genre.
This was my least favorite Susan Stoker book. It was incredibly boring and almost painful to read. I didn’t want to keep reading it, but also just wanted to get it over with.
I liked the first few chapters, (basically when Harley rescues Coach). They had really cute chemistry. After that however it’s an endless amount of nothing good.
I was confused for a long time why it was called rescuing Harley, because she wasn’t the one being rescued, but at the tail end she ends up being “rescued.” It really wasn’t anything exciting or special. Really, it wasn’t.
Don’t read this one, I regret that I did. It only took me a day to read, but it feels like I was reading it for a lot longer.
oh it was nice to get back to my Delta Force Heroes! I really liked Coach & Harley. I love these guys like family. I can't believe it's taking me so long to get back too damn.
For some reason I kept putting this book off because I really didn't feel connected to the character coach prior to this book. But even when you don't feel a connection this author is really good at giving you one anyway. I love the way she put more going in about truck and Mary and cannot wait to get to their book. And she is also told us about a new character fish who will be showing up. I can't wait for his book. Although him losing his entire team and now being chaptered out because of losing his arm oh, I'm sure that will be an ugly cry and just don't know if I have it in me for that. All in all absolutely all read my guys again.
Oh wow! I loved this story. Harley is a nerdy girl who happens to do coding and for a video game the character flys out of a plane but it is not what she expects so what best way to get experience than to fly out of a plane herself. When she goes she doesn't know what to expect only that she is a ball of nerves. Here she meets Coach and he is signed to fly out with her, he is the sweetest and very protective of those he care for. when things go wrong instead of him caring for her,Harley steps up and tends to him. With the new life experience, they both went through these two soon start to get close. I loved them together you wouldn't think they would be together but he has a way of making her feel like she is the only one. When Coach finally tells her about his past I was a crying his story just broke my heart, he is such a great man. When his girl is missing he tears the town apart trying to find her and he knows he will see her back again. Great story I love these men and how they do anything for the women they love. The sneak peek for the next book WOW I can't wait for Hollywood's story.
Maybe this book didn't age well which feels weird to say sense it was written in 2016. It felt like every sentence was about how the main characters was better and not like other girls. This was usually said about really basic things she did, like not being rude to a child, having some self preservation, eating food, not wearing makeup, and the main one how much smarter she was to any woman he has ever met. The writing and actions of the charecter felt juvenile. Overall it felt like a poorly written wattpad story.
Technically, he didn't "rescue" Harley. Maybe it should be called "Rescuing Coach?"
I dunno. I like geeky Harley, though.
He's a little too much. A little too fake? A little too unbelievable? A little too perfect? Are all of these male characters just becoming one guy with a different job title and nickname?
La scrittura della Stoker mi piace tanto, nonostante in questo romanzo la parte importante che citava la trama è arrivata intorno al 75% non mi sono per niente annoiata. Questo terzo libro rispetto ai primi due è cmq meno drammatico.
The hero didn't seem very alpha to me. The heroine was also annoying. "Oh no I lost track of time and I haven't cleaned my apartment or taken a shower and I'm wearing my fat pants. Even though you asked if you could come over an hour ago! I got caught up working"
Rescuing Harley had a sweet romance with a strong hero and an intelligent heroine. A touch of suspense took the story in an odd direction, otherwise this was a good read.
This started off so strong and then I felt like it all got tossed away after the sky diving incident.
Their whole relationship was basically fast forwarded. Other than their first kiss and first time have sex you didn’t get much. And I’m sorry but the big suspense when Harley went missing? Sucked. Literally sucked.
I loved Harley from the start, loved how quirky/nerdy she was, loved that she was going to skydive, even though it scared her, in order to be better at her job. I didn't expect to like Coach, he seemed a bit standoffish at first glance, but the more he really looked at Harley and could see past the surface I liked him.
Of course I found myself laughing while reading about their jump out of the plane, because really, that sounds like something that would happen to me in real life, however I would not have had the calmness that Harley did to get them through. Her questioning everything sure was a plus in this case!
It was nice after that Coach was still interested in Harley, that he let her know that he didn't mind her dorkiness, instead it seemed to endear her to him. Loved to how up front Coach was with Harley's siblings about his feelings for her.
The only low point for me was the drama at the end. It really didn't seem to fit the book, the only thing it seemed to show was how much Coach loved Harley, but we knew that already when he shared his past with his sister with Harley.
Susan Stoker never lets me down. I don't think I could name just one thing that makes her books all that they are. The characters are so real and engaging, the story is fast paced but easy to follow and they just hold your attention from page 1.
Harley was such a fun character. I loved that she was the gamer geek in this scenario and super passionate about her job. She was super smart and socially awkward, but was also strong and willing to put herself out there to engage with Coach's friends.
Coach was a big bad soldier that turned to putty in Harley's hands. He was enchanted by her pretty much the first time he met her and was not afraid to go after what he wanted. I loved that he was so accepting of her quirky behavior and seemed to love her all the more because of it. His past was heartbreaking but I loved how he let it shape him into a fiercely protective man.
Rescuing Harley was everything I love about the Delta Force Heroes and more. The suspense part of this story was very different than the typical abduction, guns blazing plot we normally see, but no less tense and enthralling.
This book seemed to be written as if Harley was a first grader. I understand being a virgin, but this is ridiculous. I skipped parts of the book because I couldn't get into the sappy parts. This was the least favorite book that I've read.
My least favorite couple so far. I found their story to be very long and drawn out. It didn't catch my interest and I didn't care for either of the characters.
I absolutely love Susan Stoker books and this one started out so strongly...until Harley disappeared! To me it felt like a forced move to insert some action into the story which it so didn't need!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
So far Coach and Harley are my fave couple in this series. She is adorkable, greeky awkward, and I love that type of girl. I know people get tired of those girls who are pretty but don't know it, don't understand a guy hitting on them, but I love that troupe.
I liked how slow Coach progressed their relationship and took his time with her. I liked how she handled herself in the crazy situations.
I was not a fan of the end drama. I really was expecting more that what actually happened. For that to be what happened to her to be "rescued" didn't fit with the normal drama and seamed off to me. Though that may have been why the author did it, to break a bit of her normal "formula"
Another good book how does Susan write good books again in her life. I liked the story very much. I liked the charters and liked Annie and Harley and Coach very much. I liked the sky drive chapters very much. I what to do sky driving has a bucket list idea before I die over Australia some how. I would like to thankyou the audio book lady who has a great voice. I like her very must. I like the sex paragraphs the most listening too
I liked Rescuing Harley, Coach and Harley were both good characters. Harley was my least favorite of all of the females in this series so far, but I still liked her. I hope to see both in the future.
