One of the things that I can count on in the sports genre is how realistic things are; after all, it is just playing a sport. I was not totally prepared for the way Kuroko's Basketball adds an element of fantasy, however slight it might be, to it. It is a fun enough variation but it does make for comedic reprieves and the need to suspend disbelief.
Aside from that little detail, this set of volumes was as fun as the previous one, if not more as we are a bit more familiar with the characters now.
The whole rhetoric on the meaning of winning was quite good. When faced with the overwhelming power and strength of the Generation of Miracles having a moment to put our priorities in order was needed and it makes for a fetching and interesting contrast.
Passion, love for the sport, hard work, and dedication taking front and center both with Kuroko's position and role to play as with the second year's and their revenge make for an eye-opening, dynamic, and further intriguing storyline bit, one that allows us to get to know the characters better and have a bigger appreciation of them.

The game between Shutoku and Seiren was epic (I would probably be saying that word throughout the series whenever Seiren would have a game XD) Midorima's skills really surprised me, imagine a real person with his skills. I feel like Midorima's skills is more relatable compared to the other characters.
In this volume, we see the game between Midorima and Seiren. We also got more information on who Midorima is in the Miracle.

Even though I very much enjoyed this volume, what it really did was drive home why ハイキュー!! 1 High Kyuu!! 1 is my preferred sports series - this really feels like it could be any fantasy shounen series with supernatural powers, just with basketball substituted in for fighting dragons.

The volume was fast paced and full of amazing matches. As someone who is a huge fan of the anime, I've been loving revisiting the story in its original format. The volume deals with two matches, one of them being my second favorite team, Shotoku. A very good sport series, although it's often judged because of it's art style, which I actually find perfect for the story.

This was just a slog to read. I think it's because everything is treated as important so everything turns out not important. Single matches turn out sorta like arcs but it feels like there's no through line in what can be achieved as a whole. I stead its just special moments and the narrative, arcs, and moments of character growth are more split into the quarters and halves of the match making each match read like a fucking marathon.
We start with some lead-up into the potentially exhausting semi into actual finals. I'm glad we got this lead up as it gives some downtime and lets us understand the expectations from the next two teams, creates some tension, and crucial lyrics open up more space for characterization of the other team members as they have a past with Seiho. After that we get into the Seirin v Seiho match. I enjoy that Seiho exists as a threat without relying on a Miracle Generation member. It helps them stand out and their threat of solid fundamentals and mental taunting with the buzzcutted Tomoki Tsugawa is a much more grounded and realistic threat that also helps them stand out. The second half also has Kagami and Kuroko largely step out allowing the older cast of their team to shine which was nice. It's a long game with more back and forth. But after reading a few arcs the action sorta seems to blend together.
Then we get the Seirin v Shutoko game with Midorima the perfect shooter. It's a long one full of constant back and forth. The moment where Kagami loses it and sorta lone wolfs it only to get sense knocked into him was well-written.
The writing quality and art is much the same as the first volume. Sometimes entire plays are reduced to highlights that either barely make sense or feel like a slideshow of actions that led to them making games feel discombobulated and disjointed. The story is more so focused on the character drama so it makes some sense but I wish there was more time on the plays to really heighten these character moments as reading this in large chunks sorta shows how repetitive some of the character-driven beats can be over a single game. The arcs are also pretty long and chock full of moments that feel like they are pivotal. It probably worked better reading it weekly but in a collected format it only makes the arc a bit confusing about what is the main focus or highlight if everything is treated like the highlight.
The art still struggles to convey what is happening at times as well. It does well enough bit overhead shots that are meant to describe where people are as well as the panel to panel flow can be a bit rough to follow and needs you to slow down on what is otherwise meant to be a pretty quick and visceral read.

At the time of this review, I read Omnibus volumes 1 and 4 before this volume, but I will try to only focus on this one.
In this volume, we see two kings of basketball, but that is all can say directly about this volume, instead I am going to talk around it by discussing the realism of this series. Yes, I am the first person to not care about realism in something that is fictional. Yet, I know that realism is something I heard about when it came to the Generation of Miracles abilities.
The thing is if you watch the anime then it does seem unworldly, due to how they present skills. Kuroko gets these blue lights and the players get other special effects. Yet, when you go to the manga you see it actually has solid foundation. While I will talk more about this in volume 4, I will discuss it here. We see Midorima and his incredible shooting abilities. We also see his range in shooting. Yes, when you find out his range it seems impossible, but it is not. To make those shots, he needs one thing, which is what Kuroko and I think another player mentions. Without that element, those shots are not possible.
In some respects, Kuroko's Basketball is like Haikyu!!. First, you have a powerful duo. Kagami and Kuroko are pretty strong duo, which is like Kageyama and Hinata. Second, you have one person who seems to be not strong on his own. Kuroko's skill does not work on his own power, which is like Hinata. Yet, at the same time, these two manga differ.
Aside: If a Kuroko's Basketball and a Haikyu!! crossover was possible then I wonder who can jump higher: Kagami or Hinata, especially when they are both first years? Remember, some basketball players made some comments that sounded like they were going to poach Hinata before Daichi threw some major angry vibes their way.

This omnibus was one that I needed to read in order to determine whether I wanted to continue the series both anime and manga.
• I enjoyed this volume however I wish it was dubbed in English as an anime because I think I would have gotten more out of it.
• We learned quite a bit about additional characters and background information but I think when it comes to the game conversation it got jumbled and confusing in my personal opinion.
• In addition I think with the two main characters although they are interesting they seem a bit 2D to me this could be because it's only from the beginning of the series but still.
Overall, though I can definitely see myself watching this I think reading this has been a bit difficult for me. Because of these points, I have to give this a 3 out of 5 stars

This is when you'll see if Seirin High school is top high school basketball contender when they face Shotuko High school in the Inter High Semin finals. Kuruko will finally face off vs former teiko teammate and ace shooter for generation of miracle, Shintaro Midorima. This will be the first official match between former teammates of the general miracle members and phantom six member. Lets see who gonna win.

My main issue so far is that this is a very plot driven story. I am four volumes in and there has been little to no character development. Every once in a while, there might be one page dedicated to a flashback, but these scenes are rare.

Loved this volume. Great follow up to the story. The match Seirin had was also captivating. Also the little character moments were endearing. Not surprised I loved this seeing as how I love the anime. Would definitely recommend.

look i thought it would be fun to read a basketball manga because I play basketball, but really im just spending all my time thinking "what the FUCK is going on thats physically impossible"

It was a really good book definitely better than the first we’re really going for it. It really does get ya hyped up for the next chapter and that cliff hanger is evil. Overall, it improved on the first and developed the characters further. Definitely worth the read 👍

Gah! I am such a sucker for these sports manga series! Basketball is one of my least favorite sports, and still I was turning away at the pages like they were on fire. Kuroko’s Basketball is like ninja basketball; players have basketball super powers that allow them to dominate the court, and when several of these gifted athletes come together, watch out!
Seirin has advanced in the Inter-High qualifiers. Their opponent, Seiho, smashed the Seirin freshmen last year, so they have a grudge they’ve been keeping. Seiho, a powerhouse, also has Midorima, one of the Miracle Generation, on the team. Takao is no slouch, either. The Seiho player immediately shuts down Kuroko, and things seem hopeless for Seirin.
Ahhhh these long drawn out games make me sweaty just reading about them. Seirin is already worn out after beating Hakuryo, and now they have to go up against Seiho! Since the Seiho players barely broke a sweat in their first blowout game of the day, they are as fresh as daisies. Kuroko and company – not so much. To make things worse, Midorima can shoot from anywhere on the court, and he always sinks a basket. Ugh!
This was a fun match up! Takao has the vision of a hawk, and he can see the entire court at all times, rendering Kuroko’s ninja invisibility skillz useless. Midorima, convinced by his horoscope that he will be victorious, starts showing off his incredible ability to score from way, way back on the court. He scoffs at players who only score two points at a time. If you can’t put three points on the board, what is the bother?? He is also a selfish spotlight hog, and I am thinking that will result in his ultimate downfall.
Kagami steps up, literally, and shows that his skills are nowhere near peaking. He, like my favorite volleyball hero, scoffs at gravity, and is soon defying it with jumps that would make a leapfrog proud. But will it be enough to beat Seiho? I don’t know yet, because this, like all fun manga, ends on an epic cliffhanger.

And the awesomeness continues!!!
I love this series so much, it's so much more than just a sports manga. These characters all are so well developed and there is always more going on. Constant character development and emotional depth. What is most prominent is that none of the characters are perfect. They all still seem so human. And this just makes you cheer them on, hoping that they pull off a "miracle" in the last second.

Volumes 3 and 4 cover two epic games for Seirin: advanced teams from Seiho and Shutako schools. Both teams have an edge and are considered the North and South Kings. In order to win, Seirin will have to pull out a full surprises of their own - and rely on more than Kurko's speed in the process. At the same time, they have to find the stamina to survive two very tough matches.Kuroko's Basketball continues to be an enjoyable sports themed manga. The characters are exuberant and livery without ever really taking themselves too seriously. Fujimaki knows how to draw out the anticipation and enjoys throwing in the shounen staple of 'power ups' for the characters.
This volume introduces some good adversaries for our crew (including one who can actually 'see' Kuroko wherever he is!). One thing is for sure, the games will be very close.

Skimmed the first half because Seiho (no one likes you, Tomoki!). The Shutoku chapters are still intense, even if you've watched the anime. And that volume ender, aahh!!!
