Esperaba otra cosa.
I think this book was a little better than the movie! I'm not really a fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean but I thought I would read this and I was very impressed.
Obviously, this book presents the short and incomplete story of On Stranger Tides. At the end of the book you'll be left on a cliffhanger. And that's ok. It leaves it up to each one's imagination and encourages you to watch the movie for the full plot and their outcome. This is a fantastic book for children! And comes up with plenty colorful, good quality photos with different scenes from the movie; photos that are matching the storyline.
Love the pictures Hate how the book only ends until Jack finds the shipwreck It doesn’t even mention the voodoo dolls or how Syrena saved Philip’s life!
Disappointed that this only seemed to cover about half/ two-thirds of the movie - finishing up with Jack getting the chalices from Ponce de Leon's shipwreck.
This was the most disappointing of the series namely because it led to nowhere. The ending was missing. Captain Jack had unfinished business. He was on his way to retrieve the chalices for the Fountain of Youth ritual and then—THE End. What?!!! The prophecy of the one-legged man killing Blackbeard was unfulfilled too. What was the point in bringing that up in the first place? This was no more than a teaser and I wanted the whole show. It was similar to the last book building up to something that never happened. The entire plot was centered on going after the Fountain of Youth and then you don’t even get the satisfaction of getting there. Pointless story.
Some moments I liked:
Jack, while impersonating a judge, sentenced Mr. Gibbs “…the crime of which you are guilty is of being innocent of being Jack Sparrow. I hereby sentence you to be imprisoned for the remainder of your miserable life.”
The bloodthirsty crowd was disappointed and threw garbage and a shoe at Judge Jack while booing and hissing. Jack tried to restore order by pounding his gavel to no avail. He gave up, said “court is in recess”, and threw the shoe back at the crowd. Such a Jack thing to do.
Jack’s description of mermaids: “You start with a shark. Give them weapons. And make them all women.” A sailor responded “Beautiful women?” Jack shook his head “Did you miss the part about the sharks?” Men.
Blackbeard, Angelica, and Jack reached a chasm to which there was no bridge to cross over to retrieve the chalices and Blackbeard told Jack to jump. Jack kept putting his own life before the only woman he quite possibly loved by accepting her offer to go—to jump. He said “You know the feeling you get, sometimes, standing in a high place? A sudden urge to jump? I’m not feeling that.”
I enjoyed the flirty banter between Jack and Angelica. When Jack was up to no good he went to Angelica’s room to wake her up. She was still groggy while looking at his silhouette and declared “If this is a dream, you can keep the sword and boots. If it’s not, you shouldn’t be here.” I love seeing him with a woman.
I can't wait for this movie. I absolutely love Pirates of the Caribbean and I'm so glad there's going to be more movies. Reading this book just gets me more excited for the movie. After reading Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End I know that the end of the book is not the end of the movie. The end of the book left off just before the main event happened. I understand that they do that to get people to go see the movie, even though it angers me it definitely works.
Since Dead Man's Chest, I've read these books before the movie comes out, so I just had to do the same for this one.

Q1. If you have a chance to become eternal youth, would you want to be? A1. No, I don't. I think that getting old means growth of us. Of course, I'm going to try to keep my youth, but it does not mean to object to my getting old. I can keep trying something because I get old.
Q2. What do you feel about skull? A2. Strength. I guess most people think that skull is not good and shows darkness. Yes, I can't be against with the opinion, but I think there is strength behind the darkness. Skull is symbol of belief. I like skull and pirates like Jack Sparrow!
