Neil Healy was happy to be promoted to Air Force Lieutenant, but he's less than thrilled that the new job has brought him back to his hometown. The memories alone could kill a man, to say nothing of actually seeing the woman he never got over. Neil knew avoiding Becky Westmore would be impossible, but he didn't expect the chemistry between them to be as strong as ever.
All Becky wants this holiday season is to get through the month of December with her sanity intact. Not helping? Her ex-boyfriend's return to Glenwood Falls. Even after a decade apart, Neil still makes her feel in ways no other man has. But Christmas is a time for miracles, and maybe Becky's will be a second chance at first love.

Maybe This Kiss is book one in the brand new series, Colorado Ice, by Jennifer Snow. I have read both books one and two of this series and I have to say that I’m in love with it. This hockey loving family has won my heart.
“Every love was a leap of faith.”
Becky Westmore has been a widow for four years, her husband a police officer. She is raising a nine year old daughter on her own. But her husband wasn’t her first love. Her first was her childhood sweetheart, Neil Healy. They dated all through middle and high school. Neil enlisted with dreams of traveling and seeing the world with Becky at his side. But Becky knew that Neil was going to be deployed soon after basic training. Could she leave everything she knew in her home town of Glenwood Falls, Colorado, to be alone on a base where she knew no one while Neil was overseas? So, she ended things.
Neil hasn’t seen Becky in twelve years. He was offered a promotion to Lieutenant Colonel if he moved back home to Glenwood Falls. He has managed to avoid seeing Becky so far but he knows that he will have to face her sooner or later. At their first meeting, though, it all comes rushing back. Even with the years that have passed, the woman he loved is still there and his feelings, although pushed back for all this time, come rushing back.
Becky has the same reaction the first time she sees Neil. But she still feels strongly that she doesn’t want to give her heart to a military man who will always have the possibility of being deployed for long periods of time. Her daughter lost her father. Can she risk that her daughter could lose another father?
“Too much time had passed, too much life had happened for both of them - she couldn’t claim to know the man he was now. Yet, her heart insisted it did.”
I want to mention here that you will fall hopelessly in love with Becky’s daughter, Taylor. She is adorable. Becky has three hockey playing brothers, two of which are professional. So Taylor was raised practically on skates. Hockey is what she lives for. She and Neil form a strong bond. She is also in book two quite a bit.
Becky fights her feelings but Neil doesn’t give up. Their feelings are just too strong to ignore and they can‘t lose this second chance at love. But Neil knows he will soon be deployed after the New Year. Is their love strong enough this time to withstand the separation? His heart was broken the first time he lost her. If he loses her again, he won’t survive it.
This is a perfect introduction into the hockey loving Westmore family. I have fallen in love with them. Book two, Maybe This Time, will be Jackson and Abby’s story. I can’t wait until you meet the Westmores. I hope you love them as much as I do.
Second-chance-romance is one of my favorite tropes. I love to learn how the couple broke up in the first place, and of course, I adore all the groveling to get back together.
The romance between Neil Healy and Becky Westmore in Maybe This Kiss is a perfect example. Neil and Becky were high school sweethearts, who haven't seen each other in over ten years. Their break-up was due to fear of the future—and their reunion is threatened by that same fear. Getting both of them to communicate and express their worries and concerns is their biggest hurdle, especially because they don’t want to make the same mistakes they made before.
I loved their interactions with family and friends . . . especially those with Becky's brothers. I loved her brothers' overprotective natures too—the search for the Christmas tree was classic family shenanigans! I can't wait for more in this series! ~ Missy, 5 stars
Nun, was soll ich groß dazu sagen?
This review may contain SPOILERS! I unfortunately wasn't as into the story, as I was with Abby and Jacksons. I liked reading about Becky, but my attention wasn't always on the story and it also felt a little cliched and dull. Becky is a single-mom and Neil is her former high-school-sweetheart, and I get that their romance is incorporated into a mature and realistic everyday-routine, but the sizzle just never reached me. It felt very flat and honestly, the relationship between Taylor, Becky's daughter, and Neil was way more exciting than the previously mentioned romance. I was expecting a little more from this short story, which is probably why I rated it lower than I'd liked to. I hope future books from this author make my romance heart fangirl again and I'm counting on the rest of the series for that. This was a nice story for in between, but sadly for me, nothing more! 3/5 stars
In agreeing to be the seamstress for her former sister-in-law's wedding, Becky find herself alongside her ex, who's back in Colorado after twelve years as a fighter pilot for the U.S Air Force. Together since junior high, they split up after more than a decade because she didn't want to leave her hometown and follow him in Miami.
Neil is a tentation she can't seem to resist and the old sparks between them are definitively still there, but Becky is wary about accepting his proposition to renew their relationship. Her husband was a cop and died on a search and rescue mission four years ago and she's afraid to lose someone she loves again. And she have to think of Taylor's feelings too, her almost-nine-years-old daughter.
I read book one and two of the series before I read this novella so I already knew a little about Becky. But that's also what made me want to read how it happened for her and Neil, both in the past and the time they reunited. This series is about brothers hockey players and their sister who will eventually open a store to sell the clothes she make. You know what is cool about this one? You don't even need to love hockey to appreciate this series :p Not because there's no time on the ice, but because it doesn't take all the room. By now I know that I really enjoy Jennifer Snow's writing style and I like her attention to details and the ones she add in between. In book one and two, I was charmed by her expression "Fall head over skates" and was pleased to see the expression again in the novella but with an other significant word. I hope to see it again in Asher's book.
My favorite part of this story ? When it said that Becky knows Neil so well that she can "read his face", meaning that she understand what he's thinking just in watching his facial expressions. I think it's such a beautiful way to show you really know someone. I really like the fact that even if Neil and Becky had their heart broken by the break up, there was no hard feelings and sad memories about their past relationship. There were lots of funny and cute moments in this novella, like the washing machine scene, when Neil ask Taylor for hockey lessons, the odd Christmas tree ornaments or when Neil shows Taylor pictures of him and Becky when they were dating as teenager.
My favorite quote ? "When had he learned to skate ? The guy she remembered had been like Bambi on ice."
3.5 stars -- I received a free copy through NetGalley in exchange for an honest and unbiased review/opinion.
Well hmmm...so this one didn't hit it out of the park with me. I'm still trying to figure out why. I think I just wasn't totally enamoured with the characters, you know? Like on paper they were both good characters, but I didn't feel that connection with them at the start. And so it was slow to hook me in. I think I wasn't big on how frazzled Becky was, but how she wouldn't ask for help...she made me feel tired. I was missing some sass there too. It's not a bad thing, it's just something that is a guaranteed love thing for me personally as a reader, and I wasn't feeling it. I thought her daughter was pretty hilarious, and her brothers intrigued me, but she was missing some sparkle. And unfortunately my opinion of her went down before it went up. I wasn't really impressed with how she dealt with her relationship with Neil in the past, I couldn't understand what drew them together if they were so very different.
It was kind of the same for Neil. He didn't get my book boyfriend juices going at the beginning. He was kind of blah. He didn't seem to like Colorado or the snow at all, and as a Northern girl who has to deal with people complaining about the weather all the time, I often wonder why they don't just move. So I wasn't sure why he came back, unless he didn't have a choice in where he was based out of?
And even their initial chemistry...I mean, I felt some of it, but it was sooo...reluctant? So much past clouding over, that I couldn't hop on the train you know? Which is not a bad thing, just not a thing that this particular reader enjoys as much.
BUT. But. The book picked up. I started to see more dimension in both characters. I got some sweet moments. I got to see more expansion on what drew them together. And the steamy scenes drew me in more. There was still conflict, but I was ok with how that all played out in the end -- not too much unnecessary drama or dragging things out. It ended a bit abruptly (there's a teaser for the next book at the end, so be warned it ends sooner than you think), and I would have ideally liked an epilogue or something, but I was still happy with how things played out. I was worried it was going to go one way, but it didn't.
So yeah. It ended stronger than it started for me. And I will say that reading the teaser of the next book, I think I might enjoy those characters more...I was already more intrigued. Good thing I have that ARC burning a hole in my pocket as well!! I'm going to be hard pressed not to move on to it right away...I have to decide now.
Maybe This Kiss by Jennifer Snow started off strong for me, fizzled in the middle, picked up towards the end, and then the actual ending came out of nowhere for me, which left me feeling unsatisfied.
The start: Neil and Becky are in for an epic reunion! The set up of this second chance romance/reunited lovers is fantastic. I can really feel the depth of Neil and Becky's pain and passion. I also love hockey, so the fact that Becky's family is a hockey family is great.
The middle: The readers start to learn more of what caused the two to break up and what their lives were like during this time apart, and I honestly could not stand Becky at this point. I couldn't stand her because I couldn't understand her or her choices. NOT AT ALL. We just didn't click.
The almost end: Neil and Becky give in to each other, and I love it! Finally, soulmates are reunited! Becky's brothers giving Neil a hard time was cute, and Neil spending time with Becky's daughter was even cuter.
The end: It felt abrupt. I felt like I needed one more scene where Neil joined Becky and her family INSIDE the home--not just on the front porch. I get it. They forgive each other, open up their hearts to the risk of love again, but I wanted to see the new family unit one more time. What was Taylor's reaction to Neil showing up? I only ask because Taylor was questioning if he was coming to the holiday dinner, so....
Overall, there was enough to like about the story, but I didn't love it. However, I am giving the rest of the series a shot because I enjoyed Becky's brothers, and I want to read their full-length stories. Maybe I'll get to see more of Neil, Becky, and Taylor, too, and therefore feel a bit better about the ending of this first book! *fingers crossed*

Maybe This Kiss kicks off a new series by Jennifer Snow and already I am so in love with it. I read these titles out of order and for once I was glad I did that. Getting to know Becky and Neil during Jacksons's story made me want to read there story.
Becky has been a widow for four years after her husband was killed during a search and rescue mission, she has been raising their daughter and keeping busy. With her friends wedding coming up she has a lot on her plate and knowing her ex boyfriend is a groomsman doesn't help things. So what they haven't seen each other in over a decade but she thought of Neil from time to time. After sharing a kiss with Neil Becky wonders if she can give her heart again to him or is time just destined to repeat?
While this is a novella, I thought it was sweet and got me even more excited for this new series. There was so much emotion and the characters were easy to like. I also enjoyed the no drama in this read. Becky was just figuring out if Neil would be a good fit for her and her daughter, Taylor, after all she lost her first husband to the job. There were parts that really made me tear up and there were some that put a grin on my face. I loved this novella and can't wait to read more about Ben and Asher since I have already read Jacksons's book.
Was ich doch leider etwas schade fand.
Something held me back from loving Maybe This Kiss, by Jennifer Snow. Neil and Becky fell in love as teens but Neil’s choice to enter into a military career brought their relationship to an end. Becky understood it wasn’t a life she wanted. Ten years later he’s back, and seeing each other again brings back all their old feelings to the surface. Becky’s a widow with a young daughter to consider, and Neil`s still in the military. Can they learn to live with the way things are or has nothing really changed
I liked Neil and Becky well enough. I thought Taylor, Becky's daughter, while funny was WAY too mature for a not quite 9 year old. (I’m still trying to do the math on this. If Neil was gone ten years, did Becky meet Rob immediately and get pregnant within 3 months?)I didn't particularly love the back and forth as they tried to accept and move one and come to terms with everything that had happened and what they still wanted. I usually really like second chance love stories but something was missing here for me. Maybe it was simply the fact that nothing had really changed. The author reminded us a number of times how much happier they were since they'd reconnected but I didn't feel like they were. For me it felt like they were confused and in emotional turmoil. This one was just ok for me.
When I started out looking for a book for this months challenge I kinda knew what book I was going to pick but didn't know which challenge I was going to use it for. I think it took me longer to figure that out, then read the book. Sounds silly now but at the time it was a life and death decision.
I can honestly say that I'm not sure how I felt about this book. I know that sounds crazy but it's how I felt. At times I loved Becky, and at other times she got on my nervous to the point I wanted to stop reading the story. At other times I understood what she was feeling. I just kept jumping from one feeling to the next.
I started out the story really liking Neil and being on his side against how Becky felt, but as the book went on I flip sides. Of course this happen more then once. My neck hurt by the time I was done with this story and it wasn't that long.
As I read the story I wasn't sure I wanted to read another by this author. I felt it was too much petty drama for such a short story, but as the story progressed I did start getting into it more. I can't say this one is a favorite of mine. I will try the next book in the series because I like the sound of this series. Fingers crossed I like it more.
I am so excited about this new series from Jennifer Snow. It has two of my favorite things, Christmas and Second Chance Romance.
Becky Westmore's high school boyfriend and the guy she thought she would spend the rest of her life with is back in their home town of Glenwood Falls. Neil Healy was the guy that she was going to marry, spend the rest of her life with. Until he joined the military and she realized that wasn't the life that she wanted.
Now 10 years later, he's back and the connection between the two of them is still off the charts but it's no longer just about her. She has her daughter Taylor now and after losing her police officer husband 4 years ago, she doesn't know if her heart and Taylor's can survive another love putting his life on the line.
Neil has never forgotten his first love and now that he's back and the connection is still burning hot, he's going to prove that he can be the man that Becky wants and needs. His heart is full with not only the love of Becky but also her daughter Taylor. Is it right for him to ask them to wait for him when he gets shipped overseas again?
This novella is the perfect start to introduce you to Becky's brothers - the Westmore Brothers, three hockey hotties, in which the Colorado Ice Series will be based on. I highly recommend this series!
Neil is home, back to where it all began. He has spent the last 4 weeks avoiding his only love of his life and now due to his cousins up coming wedding it seems they will be having to meet sooner then he would like. Becky knows he's home and she would rather keep him where he's at in the far distance of her heart where no one can get hurt. When they are forced together due to her sister-in-laws wedding she hopes she can get through Christmas, the wedding and his time home still with her heart in tact. Will they be able to look past the pass and see a future or will it all come crashing down and be to much? I so, so, so liked this book and the storyline of this book. I loved how it takes a story of two high school sweethearts set out on different paths end up in a place neither would like to admit they want to be. I loved the characters so much I loved how there personalities popped off the pages and you find yourself drawn in that much more. There are some adult scenes in the book so I would not recommend to all readers. I did not like the ending of this book at all I felt like there was still so much more and it just seemed abrupt in the ending. I noticed this is a series so I hope that in the up and coming books there will be more of Neil and Becky's story.
When former lovers Neil and Becky are thrown back into each others paths the sparks start flying and old feelings resurface and have them considering a reunion neither ever saw coming. But with concerns of the past repeating itself, they both fear their little reunion is just a heartbreak waiting to happen all over again... question is can they find a way to let go of the past and discover a new future together, one that leads to a happily ever after they both deserve.
From the moment I started this charming little story I was hooked, Neil and Becky drew me into their world and had me devouring the pages as fast as I could turn them! If ever there were two people who deserved a second chance at love it was these two, their story tugged at my heartstrings and steamed up my Kindle screen!! I also enjoyed having the opportunity to get a glimpse at a few of the other residents in Glenwood Falls, and now I am really excited to revisit the series and get a more in-depth look at each one of them!! Definitely an exceptional start to a new series, I highly recommend you give it a try!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.
Maybe This Kiss Is the novella that starts of The Colorado Ice series and Its also my very first book by Jennifer Snow. The blurb and beautiful cover really pulled me in and made me want to know more about this series .So when I got the chance to read it I was thrilled. I loved this novella Maybe This Kiss is an excellent start to this series .
In this book we mainly follow Neil and Becky and I just loved these two . Jennifer Snow does an amazing job writing this second chance romance I was rooting for these two to have there happy ending no matter what happened. With a sexy romance , the beautiful setting of Glenwood falls and the fantastic characters Jennifer Snow creates a wonderful novella with Maybe This kiss.
Maybe This Kiss was sexy , sweet , fun and heartwarming story and I cant wait to read the next book in the Colorado Ice Series If you love all these things in your books I suggest you get a copy.
Becky and Neil were high school sweethearts. Things happened and they broke up. Now, Becky is a widowed, single mom. Neil was promoted and re-assigned to the base in Colorado. This was an average, short read. The romance was believable due to their shared history. Becky was a bit annoying at times. Mainly because of her taking things on, not being able to say no, not asking for help, and feeling guilty for this and that. In a way, I'm glad this wasn't longer- otherwise I like I'd want to smack some sense into her. I laughed at Neil's nickname for snow ("the white shit"). Becky: want to be with you, but can't because Complicated. Neil: ditto. I did like the thoughtfulness that went in to deciding their relationship; being military (and law enforcement) does come with sacrifices.

I absolutely enjoyed this short second chance romance book. When Neil and Becky are reunited the chemistry is stronger than ever and old feelings resurface. Will they learn from past mistakes? Can Neil be the. Man Becky and her daughter Taylor need? I loved the characters and the fun this story bought. This is a great read to starting of series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.
This a an awesome second chance that kicks off what looks like a great new series. Becky broke Neil's heart years ago when she broke things off with him. She couldn't face the lonely and fearful life of a military wife. Now they have a second chance. Will she have the strength to love him again?

Synopsis:
Neil Healy was happy to be promoted to Air Force Lieutenant, but he’s less than thrilled that the new job has brought him back to his hometown. The memories alone could kill a man, to say nothing of actually seeing the woman he never got over. Neil knew avoiding Becky Westmore would be impossible, but he didn’t expect the chemistry between them to be as strong as ever.
All Becky wants this holiday season is to get through the month of December with her sanity intact. Not helping? Her ex-boyfriend’s return to Glenwood Falls. Even after a decade apart, Neil still makes her feel in ways no other man has. But Christmas is a time for miracles, and maybe Becky’s will be a second chance at first love.
Review:
My oh my….what a great second chance romance. And with a man in uniform to boot….had me swooning. Maybe This Kiss begins with Neil returning to his home town as a result of a promotion after 12 long years. He left his lady love, Becky, when he enlisted with the Air Force. Actually, if truth be told, Becky could not handle the uncertainty of a military spouse when Neil begged her to go with him to Miami:
“The last time she’d seen Neil was the day he’d returned from basic training. Together and inseparable since the seventh grade, she’d hated every minute of him being away. But he’d reassured her that the ten weeks would pass quickly and then they would be starting a life together, moving in together once he returned. Twenty years old and so in love, she’d hoped he was right……She’d had a lot of time to think in the weeks he’d been away. She knew she couldn’t deal with a long distance relationship, with unreliable communication and silences for weeks on end. The danger and uncertainty of a military career, the tours to war-torn territory, had made her feel sick to her stomach, and the instability and the possibility of moving from base to base wasn’t a life she thought she could handle.”
Back to current day we find that Becky is a widow (she had married a police officer – killed during a search and rescue mission) and the mother to Taylor, an eight-year-old tom boy who is a genius on skates! Hockey playing is in the family blood, with two uncles in the NHL! That was a bonus for keeping my interest (I am Canadian after all and hockey is all around me), that’s for sure.
The reader is lead through the reuniting of these two people, their struggles to see if maybe this time a relationship can work (since neither of them has fully gotten over their first true loves). I like how Neil approaches and bonds with Taylor, not in a sneaky way, but one that shows he really does like the child for herself and her hockey talents.
Now if this does not embody the essence of sexy, I don’t know what does – thoughts that Becky was having after an intimate moment:
“He’d put on his jeans, but nothing else, and she was reminded of catching him in just a towel. What was it about a man’s chiseled bare chest, stomach, and arms that was sexier than total nakedness?”
The story made me laugh and tear up and kept me captivated throughout my afternoon reading session. I was also completely exhausted by the schedule that Becky kept for herself! I was amazed how she seemed to do it all, though at what cost? As a single mom, I can appreciate the “I can do it myself” attitude. It was also difficult and moving to see how her walls were “climbed” by Neil in an attempt to show her they could build a life together. Some definitely very poignant moments that had me emotional.
I found the character development quite sufficient, especially given that the read is a novella. I look forward to reading the next installment of the Colorado Ice series – Maybe This Time and reading the story of Abigail Jansen and Jackson Westmore.

Maybe This Kiss is the first book in the new Colorado Ice series and it's a good one. It's actually my first book by Jennifer snow and I loved it. I loved everything about it. Her writing style to the theme in the book. Its all about hockey. And that not completely true. It's a romance and you wont be disappointed.

MAYBE THIS KISS, the first book in the Colorado Ice series by Jennifer Snow, is the perfect novella to get you in the holiday spirit. Becky Westmore and Neal Healy were high school sweethearts in the small, hockey crazed, mountain town of Glenwood Falls, Colorado. After high school, Neal joined the Air Force and he asked Becky to go with him. She was very young and afraid of what the future might hold for them so she broke up with him and stayed behind. Several years later, Becky now finds herself the widow of a police officer who was killed while on duty. She is also the single mom of a young, also hockey obsessed, daughter. When she agrees to do the alterations on the wedding party’s gowns and tuxes for her best friend’s wedding, she again comes face to face with Neal who is the Best Man. He has moved back to Glenwood Falls, and their attraction is immediate. She is afraid to let herself get too involved, however, because Neal is still in the Air Force and he will again be deployed overseas in the near future. She doesn’t feel she can go through that type of loss again, especially now that she also has a daughter to consider. This is a great one-sitting read. The characters are likeable and their problems are real. I especially liked Becky who has become a very strong woman after all she has gone through. Neal is understanding and patient, but steadfast in his dedication to the Air Force. The secondary characters are all colorful and supportive, especially Becky’s brothers who don’t want to see her get hurt again. As in other books set in small towns, the town itself becomes a character in the book. I loved Glenwood Falls. I am a lifelong Colorado resident, and in my mind I pictured the story taking place in Glenwood Springs, one of my favorite mountain resort towns, even though it is on the opposite side of the state from the Colorado Springs area where the story obviously took place. All of the Air Force references were spot on. All in all, a fun little book that I’m awarding four stars. I docked it a star for being a bit too predictable, and there was a scene involving Pike’s Peak that I had a bit of trouble buying into. I assume the next book in the series will star one of Becky’s brothers so I’m looking forward to the next visit to Glenwood Spri…uh, Glenwood Falls. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
