WORKS OF MAX FREEDOM LONG (Theory of Metaphysics): The Secret Science Behind Miracles, Self-Suggestion and the New Huna Theory of Mesmerism and Hypnosis - Annotated The Power of Positive Thinking

Rate this book
These two books wrote by Max Freedom Long (October 26, 1890 – September 23, 1971), an American novelist and New Age author. He believes in "hidden secret." that he derived it from the word kahuna or Huna (Hawaiian word) adopted by him in 1936 to describe his theory of metaphysics.

Long cited what he believed to be the spiritual practices of ancient Hawaiian kahunas (priests) as inspiration, however, the system is his invention, with roots in New Thought and Theosophy, rather than in traditional Hawaiian beliefs. Huna is part of the New Age movement.

The Secret Science Behind Miracles
This book is an ethnographic account of Hawaiian healing, it is informed by anecdote and personal experience in the islands.

Self-Suggestion and the New Huna Theory of Mesmerism and Hypnosis
One of the highlights of this book is the review of the self-help scene during the mid-50s, including a mention of Dianetics, as well as General Semantics and other belief systems. Mostly though, this is a practical manual of self-suggestion using the Huna techniques, including detailed instructions as to how the operation works.
