Emma is a Black/white Muslim American mom of five, ages 6-22, in her mid-forties just trying to live her best life…which usually includes coffee, wine, and an unfortunate habit of one-clicking any pretty special edition that winds up in her feed. (If you DM it, she will come.)
She likes K-pop (#army, #moa) cultivation dramas (Till the End of the Moon,) precioussss silence, and collects more makeup than she uses.
She bends knee to Michelle Sagara West, Anne Bishop, N.K. Jemisin, Grace Draven, J.D. Robb, and Nalini Singh—a nod to Sanderson, Goodkind, Eddings, McCaffrey, and McKinley.
If you are looking for romantic epic fantasy set in complex, diverse, sex positive worlds with morally gray societies, powerful anti-heroes with THAD energy, multi-racial heroines at least 35—if not 350—coming into power, and a central theme of family, both dysfunctional and supportive, then you will binge her stories..
I recieved an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Izo is the queen, and not only that but she is the most bad ass. Mostly because she has cultivated her image as a women/bear/queen that shouldn't be messed with. Especially after her bastard of a ex-husband drove her to have to execute some of her subjects. Now she works hard and plays hard with those she thinks has a pretty face. Now Izo has set her sights on Malvin, a near by clan chief who is looking for a rich wife in order to replenish his lands economy. Malvin is trying to make his country stronger, but he has had some set backs. The least of which was his economy. But the most pressing concern comes in the form of his sister. Who is a major wench with a thorn in her side. But one of the things that Malvin was not expecting when he came to the inner city was to have his matebond triggered. Especially when he mistakenly thinks he is suppose to mate to Izo's daughter. This was a good read that had a lot of action in the form of human and bear fights, as well as the sexual type of action. I really loved the various plot twists that were prevalent in this story. I would definitely recommend this to romance and paranormal romance lovers.
This was a very enjoyable and entertaining read and even though I didn't read the first book in the series I was still able to follow the storyline. What I liked most about this book was Izo. I loved a story were the heroine is feisty, fierce, and strong this book had that and then some. Izobelle and Melvin have great chemistry too and I really enjoyed watching their form of foreplay throughout the story. Overall a great read. I'm definitely going to be checking out the other books in this series. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no monetary compensation was received and the opinions I have expressed are my own.
This book has all the sweeping geopolitical and intra-family drama of the Song of Ice and Fire series. It was certainly not at all how I was expecting this story to unfold. I loved Izobelle’s fierce independence, but the wide streak of “too stupid to live” drove me absolutely mental. Malvin is more than a match for her. He appreciates her cunning mind as much as any other attribute she brings to their relationship. The intrigue and suspense kept me glued to the page, anxious to learn what would happen next. I quite liked the author’s creative way to break Izobelle of some of her ingrained habits.
I do love a story with a strong female lead and this book has that in abundance. Izobelle is a fierce bear queen and Malvin Dacus is the clan chief determined to break through her iron clad defences and Make her see what their bears already know. Not an easy task especially when Dacus’s sister is leading a rebellion determined to start a war. An enjoyable read I’d gladly recommend.
I love this next book in the Casakrain series. I immediately fell in love with both main characters and hope some of the side characters get their own stories. I laughed and cried with these characters as they realized that they were true mates. I cannot wait to see if there will be more set in this world for this series.
The book I have is title "Bear Queen", but appears to be the same as this story. The queen, Isabelle, has followed up the mating of her daughter, with flirting with Malvin, the King of Talogroth. However, there appears to be more than flirtation on the King's mind. That is until his sister makes her presence known. Then, it becomes very interesting!
Although the third in a series, I was able to enjoy this book. The author did a good job of introducing the characters. I didn't get lost in the names. But, I do want to read the first three books!! I liked the characters and want to spend more time with them.
Absolutely loved this book. Feisty Izobelle,a bear shifter queen and Malvinas a clan chief. Fast paced, great storyline and characters. Voluntarily reviewed this advance copy
Kept me up for three nights. I loved the characters and that sexy Scottish burr. Yummy I love stories of strong women being able to be softer and safe with their mates.
Another enjoyable story from this author. If you enjoy reading shifter romances you'll love reading her stories. They are always so very well worth the read.
Her Majesty Izobelle, Queen of Casakraine, left the State Dinner and waited impatiently in the Royal Library for her targeted male companion – Malvin Dacus, Clan Chief of Talogroth -- to join her. Wanting to keep him in his place, she teased then pulled back from him. Instead, she offhandedly asked him to dinner and would get back to him when she checked her calendar.
Malvin was definitely attracted to Izobelle. One of his reasons for coming here was that he was required to marry a wealthy woman in order to bring some much needed capital into his country so they could rebuild. He was supposed to be checking out the ladies at court for a potential wife. Concerned about his attraction to the Queen, his best friend Newyn reminded him of this duty and the fact that the Queen would never marry him. She was so afraid of betrayal, she would never give another man a chance. To further add to the difficulties, Malvin’s sister, Boudicca, was secretly hiding on the grounds and plotting to kill him at the earliest opportunity.
It had become obvious to the Queen and Malvin that their attraction was deeper; their bears recognized each other as mate. But the Queen resisted that relationship. When her daughter Mia was on her way back to help with several royal events to take place, her cavalcade was attacked. The Queen knew who was trying to frame Malvin for the attack. And Malvin was ready to use this attack to present his marriage proposal as a business arrangement – to keep the Queen from having to retaliate for the attack. Things were getting complicated! Could this be enough to get the Queen to relent and accept him?
This was a wonderful energetic book with so much action going on! The intrigue was handled perfectly, with the right touch of humor throughout. I thoroughly recommend this book. You’ll see how a very take-charge, competent woman runs a vast kingdom with style and keeps all the men in line! I loved it!
This is a wonderful and intriguing book to read and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. The story covers Izobelle Sahakian a queen of Casakraine and bear shifter and due to betrayal and greed of her first husband (and subsequently execution) guards her heart. Malvin Dacus a Clan Chief of Talogroth and a younger bear shifter has his eyes firmly on her and is determined to get her. What you will find in this story is drama, intrigue, memories of betrayal, marriage of a son, cherry smells, a feisty queen/bear shifter, a younger man/bear shifter, a warrior's daughter, a bitter sister (Bouicca), a mate-bond, denial, cowardly female, threats, claiming pheromones, a vow to claim, her son (Prince Andrei) & Malvin fighting, a car, Mia under attack, launchers, abduction their purpose, Malvin arrested, released, sister (Boudicca) the problem, a business proposal, flush rat sister out, Malvin's daughter abducted, a call, a swap, possible trap, an old lover, a dragon, debt cleared, an exchange, drugged, bound, going to kill him, untied, attacking, killing abductors, making Prince Andrei regent, shifting, following bond, pain, awake, confusion, memory impaired, a cabin, trying to leave, caught, disagreements, intimacy, son and mate fighting, stop, a new granddaughter, feeling weak, a friend, you're mated, knocked up queen, stubborn female, spies, a marriage, a bomb, threats, finding Boudicca, a dragon taking care of Boudicca, emotional feelings, lust, mating bond, and erotic scenes. It is one of the few books that I have read about a shifter romance with a good story-line that is well thought out and is exceptionally well written. The characters are well developed with personalities and have feelings of revenge, needs and desires. I would recommend this book to people that like to read a good bear shifter romance. You will not be disappointed in this book and I look forward to more from this author.
This is another book by Emma Alisyn that i adored, i just love the way she writes and is able to pull you into her world!
This is a brilliant storyline and i loved to read about a woman who is not really young and who is a mother who finally meets her mate and has no clue what to do about it. I really enjoyed all the different elements that are in this book. There is a lot of action in this book and it makes it a serious page turner of a tale, i find that this is how the author writes, so that you are drawn into the world that the boo is set in and you find yourself compulsively and obsessively turning the pages to find out what will happen next! And trust me there is always another surprise around the corner!
I really feel for Izo as she has always had to put everything else before her wants and needs and feels like she will always have to do this. She is an alpha female having a will of iron along with stubborness to see out what she believes in. She has a big and pure heart that unfortunately has a big wall around it! She knows who she is and has the confidence along with that. Then we have Malvin, who also has the pressure of ruling his country on his head but when it comes to his mate that all goes out of the window, he is a confident and protective male who has always done what is best for everyone else.
Loved this book and so glad that i voluntarily reviewed this book...it is amazing!!!
Izobelle may be the Queen of Casakraine but she is also a hot, sexy lady with itches that must be scratched! She's had a string of no-emotions involved affairs since she had to have her treacherous husband killed but a certain clan chief has weaseled himself into her heart and she's not sure she'll be able to leave him just as easily as she thought.
Malvin Dacus, Clan Chief of Talogroth, loved and mourned the loss of his wife. She gave him a fine daughter but his kingdom is in dire need of a cash injection, so marrying for money seems to be his only option. But a certain regal lady is catching his eye and he's even marry her with no cash involved, he'd make peace with his people some other way.
But when his brazen and power-mad sister Boudicca starts to interfere in Casakraine and cause mayhem and treachery with Izo's court, Malvin knows he has to put her back in her place.
Izo is one hot to trot queen! I loved her internal diatribes towards her children and her court. If only they knew what passed through her head! Malvin is definitely Scottish in my head cos as a patriotic Scot I claim his accent! He could be kinda Irish but nope he's Scots. Glamour, put upon mothers, unruly children and scandalous court politics all mix in a wonderfully crafted quick read!
I received an ARC copy of this book in return for an honest review.
I needed a paranormal romance fix, so when I saw The Bear Queen for free on Amazon I jumped.
Izo and Malvin have a great chemistry and I really dug their push and pull throughout the story. both characters were strong, logical leaders of their lands who didn't take guff. I mean, really, who wants guff?
Izo was betrayed in her past, learning to wall herself off from those who would use her heart against her. She is powerful, but doesn't flaunt it. Izo puts duty and country first, always. It was endearing, if not a little sad. I wanted her to be happy...and what makes a bear happier than fab sex? I dunno!
Malvin set out to find a solution to a problem, so when Izo enters the picture, he's a little taken aback. Then his bear gets involved and BOOM! Possessive, protective, instinctual-that's what he becomes. but he doesn't lose his head.
The scene where everything finally comes together was a little lacking for me. I wished so hard that the timing had been different. When you read that part, I think you'll understand why. I wanted her to give in to her vulnerability, and that didn't quite happen. Overall, it was a decent read, but I'm not 100% I'd continue the series (or go back and start from the beginning).
Izobelle Sahakian is a bear shifter and a queen of Casakraine. Her first marriage ended in him trying to take her crown. So she has guarded herself and her heart from falling for anyone since. She has two grown and mated cubs with their own cubs on the way. But when Malvin Dacus shows up she is drawn to him even with him being younger then her. He is also clan chief of Talogroth and an alpha bear shifter. In other words not easy to control lol. She also knows he needed a rich bride to help his people and then there is the problem of his sister. Izobelle is very wary and doesn't want to be used but the mate bond is strong now what to do?
Wow this story was fantastic. Dacus's sister is a force to be reckoned with to bad she is so bad! So many twists and turns in this story I couldn't put it down. So Amazing! Izobelle is one strong willed hot grandma. I want to be just like her when i grown up lol. This is a must MUST read! It's one of the best books out that I have read. Book given for an honest review and I honestly loved it
This is a fantastic book !! It has a female Queen Bear Shifter of Casuarina, named Isabelle, her male counter part and Lord of a country next to her is bear shifter Marvin ( Mal for short). There are all types of shenanigans going on in both countries as well as in their love loves. I found out after I started reading that this is the 3rd book in the series, but it didn't make it aNY less enjoyable and it was very easy to follow !! I recommend this book to any paranormal romance lover, anyone who likes smart, Sassy female leads and their males Alpha rogues, with hearts of gold. I'm going back and reading books 1 and 2 , because if their as fun reading as this one was, I'll be laughing all night. I recieved a gifted copy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. 5☆'s, I'd give it more if I could, and it does leave a few things up in the air, but no true cliffhangers. I recieved a gifted copy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
Bear Queen is the third book in the Royal Bears series. You can read this as a standalone The book does not end in a traditional cliffhanger, but does leave the storyline open ended for future books (and Bear Queen's Baby has just been published). There is some violence Hot and steamy sex so definitely 18+.
The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat all that info here. The author did a good job in catching new readers up on the series storyline thus far. In the first two series books, you have the Prince and the Princess finding their mates. In Bear Queen, we have their joint weddings. After years of being alone, and with her two cubs now mated, the Queen has a chance to find a mate of her own. Will she take that chance when given it? Or will her sense of duty deny her the happiness and love she needs and deserves?
I received a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

No Spoilers. ARC free book given in exchange for an honest review.
This is a great addition to the royal bears series. Izobelle has been an enigmatic, formidable and demanding ruler in the previous books. This book brings her to life. Bear Queen features Izobelle Sahakian, the ruler of Casakraine. Izobelle has ruled alone since the death of her traitorous husband when her cubs were very young. She is fearsome, sometimes thought to be mad, and very beautiful. And her country is rich, which is just what the widower Clan Chief Malvin Dacus needs in a bride since his country, Talgrath, is poor. The attraction is mutual, but their bonding is of the slow variety, which gives Izo the chance to vascillate. And she does just that, until Malvin's teenage daughter is abducted by rebels headed by his half sister Boudicca, who wants the throne over Mal's dead body.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. You can read this one without reading the previous two stories ( Bear Prince and Bear Princess), but I think reading them in order is better. This book is set after the other two books. If you have read the first two, you have met the Queen. She is a force to be reckoned with. She gets her people to disappear or stop talking with just a glance. She has been on the throne for many years and she wishes she could have a few days without any of the duties of a queen. She has had many sexual encounters, but Malvin will be different. He is confident and mind strong. Why is Malvin visiting the queen's country? Will they do more than talk?
I enjoyed reading Izobelle and Malvins story. Of course we knew the characters from the first two books and it's about time mama bear gets hers. I loved this book we got to see Malvins daughter Ash and she was just a bunch of fun Edith her foul mouth. Plus his evil sister I can't spell her name but I hated her to the core and was sad she didn't get ate or tore to pieces. This book made me laugh and in some parts made me mad. I actually found a few new phrases to use. I love the use of Malvins accent especially when he got mad. I found myself repeating done things he said out loud the way I thought he was saying it. I read a lot and I can truly say I've enjoyed this book like no other.
I read the first book in this series and loved it but haven't had a chance to read the second one yet. I think it would have helped with understanding a few things a little better in this one. I was able to read Bear Queen just fine and enjoyed the story very much. However, I would recommend for someone new to the series to read both book one and two first.
Queen Izobelle is a strong willed and independent woman who is not looking for a long term relationship. Clan Chief Dacus is on a search for a bride and believes "Izo" is meant to be his. I like the two of them together and was glad to see their story continue in Bear Queen's Baby. *I received an ARC from the author in exchange for my honest review.*
Wow, this story a about blew me away. Queen Izobelle is such a strong, powerful woman who doesn't trust easily. Now her kids are finally mated. Mia's other candidate Clan Chief Malvin is still in court looking for a rich wife. Izo isn't looking for a mate but a hot man have other skills she could use. Malvin and I do start a game of cat and mouse But Malvin has a bigger problem. His Sister is sneaking around the castle causing problems. She wants Malvin to step down as Chief by any means necessary. This was a fabulous story. The sexual tension was off the charts. Adding the backstory of suspense with his sister just takes it to another level. I hope we see more of the royal family in the future. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
I have not read book 1, didn’t enjoy book 2 and debated reading this but as I usually like this authors work I agreed. Whilst this was better than book 2, I still don't like the time frame aspect. I did like that this was a more mature heroine but as a bear shifter time is on her side. Trying to make the queen nicer than she has been in previous books worked to a point. I think I only really liked her once she had lost her memory. I really still did not connect with any of these characters. Whilst others will love this series it is not for me. I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.
This is a great paranormal romance. She is a Queen who has been betrayed and closed her heart to love. When she meets her mate, it is hard to resist him. He needs a wealthy wife but his connection to the Queen can't be ignored. With danger surrounding them, they have to decide if they choose love.
I really enjoyed the story. I love strong female characters and Izobelle is definitely a woman in control. It is her heart that she can't quite control. Malvin is an alpha and a match for this woman. They have great chemistry. There is a lot of action and some humor too which really make for a great read.
