When you run away from love, can you ever find happiness again?
Shelby Roberts spends her days surrounded by love and romance. A successful florist, she really doesn’t need a man getting in the way of growing her business. Life is hard enough without heartbreak.
But when her childhood sweetheart, Caleb, walks into her store, Shelby’s world is thrown into turmoil. If Caleb thinks she’ll take him back, he can forget it. Just because he’s got muscles to die for and a brooding jawline to match doesn’t mean she’s going to fall into his arms again, not after he shattered her heart into a million pieces.
Shelby needs answers she isn’t sure Caleb can give. Why did he walk out on her all those years ago? Why’s he decided to come back now? And can she ever forgive him?
Falling in love with Caleb was the worst mistake of her life. One thing’s for sure. She’s never going to make the same mistake twice, no matter how persuasive Caleb is. And Caleb can be very charming when he wants something – or someone. Can Caleb convince Shelby to give him a second chance or is it her turn to run away?
Running Bear by Amber Belmont is the first in the Love Laid Bear BBW paranormal shape shifter romance series. Stuffed with sexy alphas and strong, independent women, each book is completely standalone, although you may prefer to read them in order for maximum effect. These novellas get steamy, so if hot bear shifter romance books are your thing, you’ll love this.

I liked it, but no epilogue. They were apart for 7 years, but there was no talk of them being with others, so not sure if they were celibate the whole time. Good read, not a whole lot of steam.

Really enjoyable romance story. Light and short, but with great characters. Perfect for an afternoon break. Got me pumped for the next one in the series.
So before I throw myself out to the firing squad let me say I really did like this story once I actually sat down and started reading it. That being said, what I say next is 100% my opinion, and what I feel would make for a smoother read. I think a prologue should've been included for this story. Maybe giving us a scene of Caleb and Shelby together in high school and then the scene of when he leaves her. As it starts our right now we kind of get thrown right into the story and have a jaded florists without knowing why until like 12 or 13 pages into the story. There really needs to be a bit more information about this magic that Shelby apparently holds. She can tame a new turn bear, great! She can find her mate without being mated, okay. But all we get is that she has some kind of magic in her and then BAM the end!
Upon discovering that their son was showing signs of being a shifter Caleb was taken to a secret safe place so he could learn to be a bear in safety without hurting himself or anyone else. Since he had never knew that there was a chance he could be a shifter he couldn't warn his high school sweetheart Shelby who suffered for years not knowing how or why he just disappeared with no call, note or anything ever. She went on to built herself a good business in a flower shop. Shelby realized she needed more help, made a sign for the window of her shop never expecting Caleb to walk in. He has return planning to tell her everything. He has many secrets, being a shifter, the fact that he did come back for her and why he left again, plus why he has come back now. Does she still love him? How would she feel finding out she is his mate? He is back for good and wants her back into his life for good but when he plans to take her to the secret cabin of his clan he disappears again , why? But feeling he is in danger she does what she should not be able to do,find him at the secret pack land that is hidden by magic. She was not only able to find him but also dealt with a bear changing for the first time(a real danger since most can only control themselves with the help of a strong bear shifter. His !uncle tells him she is one in an million, maybe a billion do to what she has already done just by following what she felt was the right thing to do.
For some reason it was classified as BBW, but the only concession made to that was the narrator claiming that she'd had an internet date with a guy that told she should lose a few pounds. There is no real description of the protagonist, Shelby.
Other than knowing the genre, there is absolutely no mention of shifters being an accepted part of society until the love interest shows his ability to become a bear. Suddenly, not only does Shelby accept and forgive everything in the past, but it is also revealed that the existence of shifters has been known for a few generations. And a chapter later Caleb goes running through the city in bear form as if to illustrate the point.
This is the first book by Amber that I read and I really enjoyed it. Shelby thought that she had put Caleb behind her. That is until he shows up in her shop one day wanting explain why he just disappeared so long ago. Shelby is leery of letting him back into her life. But she knows that if she doesn’t hear him out, she will always wonder. This book is a wonderful read. Shelby and Caleb were meant to be together. He didn’t want to just disappear like he did but he had to. There was a bit of confusion or he would have come back into her life sooner. I can’t wait to read to read the next book. I hope that we get to continue to read about Shelby and Caleb as well as learn about the next couple in the series. Great job Amber.
What a delightful second chance shifter romance.. Caleb left Shelby 7 years before during his first shift, He left without a word and never contacted her.. She had been devastated and was finally starting to move on somewhat when he reappeared at her Florist shop She wanted nothing to do with him but he reappeared at her shop asking her to let him explain what happened.. When she finally did let him explain everything, his sudden disappearance made sense, but would she be able to forgive him and trust him again and would she be able to accept that he really did love her and would never leave her again...
He couldn’t believe his luck he finally found her an he wasn’t going to let her get away this time although it was his fault she acted the way she did he was determined to make it up to her some way an get her back .
After many years two former high school sweethearts are reunited as he walks into her florist shop to order flowers for someone .Sparks fly hatred for him with all her strength inside of her body .Being professional business woman that she was she addressed him like any other customer rung up his order an let him leave .
In Running Bear Shelby Roberts finds it impossible to accept that Caleb Love, her high school sweetheart just disappeared from her life, but that is what happened to her and she no longer finds trusting men easy. She owns a successful flower shop and has move on in her life alone.
Caleb walks into her shop and wants to explain and have a second chance with Shelby making Running Bear two of my favorite types of romance; first a second chance love story and a shifter love story too.
This is a truly wonderful story about a two high school sweethearts and the mystery surround the reason they separated. Years later, Selby is running her aunt's former floral shop successfully. Then, one day he returned. Caleb walked into her shop and she relived that last time. He's back and wants to renew their relationship.
I got to the half way point and could not finish. The whole book is from the h side only. I do not like books that only have one side. I have the next book already and hopefully it is not the same.
This was a really good read. It was nice to read about a girl that was strong and not just give in. The only thing was it needed to be edited. A lot of sentences that didn't make sense. But the characters and the story line was good. Happy reading.
I Liked the story, but it ended so abruptly I can't shake the feeling I am miossing something. Otherwise it was a quick read; Shelby and Caleb romancce is best described as love's lost and found. I am starting the second book in this series...maybe I can find what I felt is missing here.
Shelby and Caleb were high school sweethearts planning a future together when he suddenly disappeared and now he’s back and wants her still. He takes her to his clan’s place and shows her that he’s a shifter.
I have enjoyed reading this book and l look forward too reading more of them thankyou for the story and all the hard work that goes into the books you write. I look forward too reading more of many more of them.
Shelby and Caleb were high school sweethearts until one day his whole family disappeared. Could have been interesting but early on in the book Shelby blames her assistant for a mistake she, herself, made.
This was just ‘ok’. It was missing something. I’m not sure what. The story just fell flat for me. Maybe it needed to be fleshed out more? I don’t know. There is potential here though.
The plot was too generic and predictable. Characters didn't have much depth. I stopped at 53%. I should have been invested at more than halfway through the novel.
