A little girl is missing and the police are looking in the wrong place.

If only they’d listen to Charlie Private Investigator…’s assistant.

Joined by off-duty cop James McKenzie, I launch a secret investigation into the clues everyone else seems to be a balloon, a bunch of flowers and a lost piglet.

Sinister stuff.

As if chasing a kidnapper isn’t enough, I’m starting to wonder about McKenzie's real motives for spending time with me.

And when more details of my brother's disappearance come to light, I’m not sure whose side James is on...

Clare Kauter writes laugh-out-loud funny books across genres, including mystery, romantic comedy and paranormal fiction. She is known for her loveable hot mess characters, dubious puns and occasional (OK, frequent) inappropriate jokes.

Clare isn’t going to tell you where she lives, because she always finds it weird when other authors do that in their bio. Why would you care? Unless you’re a stalker, in which case it’s probably better if she doesn’t give you a head start.

At any given moment she’s probably sipping tea while hunched over her pink keyboard in a super attractive posture, writing her next book and snorting like a piglet at her own jokes.

Clare posts regularly on her blog – drop by and say hi!

I've read the first 3 books in the series, and each one is absolutely hilarious! Charlie is one of my favorite book characters, and while each book contains its own mystery, there is an overall one that's ongoing about her brother, with more information given in each installment. I can't wait to get started on book #4!

Witty and smart

I’ve just completed this book, 3rd in he series. I just love Charlie and company. It’s smartly written, exciting, and funny. Well worth downloading. If I read well into the night, and the characters stay with me....it’s the book for me. I’m off to get the next 3.

Very funny content as well as a serious kidnapping investigation. I love the Charlie and Adam dynamic as he continues to enable her somewhat childish antics while also being irritated with her.
