When things turn bad, Jessie goes to the marshes. She goes to where it's quiet and lonely... and safe. But one time, and indeed the last time, she goes to the marshes she's by herself in more ways than one.
The Girl in the Marshes is a short novella about 'nowheres' to 'somewheres' and reflections and dreams, set in the backend swamps of Louisiana. Suitable for Adults.
Also contains an excerpt from T.W.M. Ashford's upcoming supernatural thriller, BLACKWATER.
The characterisation of the first person narrator was very good, and the dialect was just enough for authenticity, then suddenly she would use long words and expressions that were totally inappropriate for her. This throws the reader out of the story. It also reads like the beginning of a novel, and I would love to find out what happens next. So it has great potential, but it's not there yet.
