Snow Storm Entertainment presents SPINWARD A breakthrough in lucid dream game sensation, immersion and freedom. Fight, build, explore and conquer to make your mark on the galaxy. Launching March 2036
Only available on Dream Box
Snow Storm were being uncharacteristically quiet about their new product, only releasing concepts, hints and grandiose claims about it, all that was known is it set in Outer Space, it is skill based and it’s the most immersive game ever created. Opinion was divided, is it vapour-ware, is it over-hyped, is it under-hyped, will it fail to deliver, will it be the best game ever created or will it be the worst game in history. Anticipation was at an all-time high, the streams, boards, vlogs and pages where all buzzing with excitement.
All Su knew is that she really really wanted to play it.
The start of the book was filled with way too much millennial BS but that went away quickly and it became a interesting book with great character building. There was a missed opportunity for a Zelda reference when the main was given her first weapon.
I laughed my way through this book, the characters just seem to constantly get into and out of situations with a lot of luck. The main character left me laughing along with the robot. Good read hope to see more from this author
As others have noted, the editing on this one is very, VERY rough, so if you're a stickler for grammar/spelling you might want to give it a miss.
That would be a shame though, because it's really, really, really good. The main character in particular, Su/Cal, is strong, funny and absolutely charming, and the dialogue is great. It also spends some time on Su's life outside the game, which I think really rounds out the story and is missing from a lot of LitRPG. It ends abruptly, but that's pretty clearly because it's only the first part of the story. So bring on the sequel!
Intriguing read. I love the skill system, perfect practice makes perfect! Also love the fact that unlike some other books I've read recently, the MC has to work for her rewards. She combines intelligence and the use of her surroundings to great effect. Lost a star for the multitude of typos. Everything else was great just needs a little proof reading. Words missing here, letters and apostrophes missing there. Otherwise, fun read and wholly recommended.
Great story and some good new ideas mixed up with some old school fun. Loved the Firefly reference. Others have pointed out some problems and I'll just reiterate that if it had been my book, I would have been sure it had been edited for errors. Many times it felt like a poor translation from a foreign language. Worth reading however. Looking forward to a second attempt.
This was a really fun LitRPG. It did suffer from a lot of grammar/spelling/formating/etc.. type mistakes. The story was casual and the plot was basically non-existent. Spinward is mostly fueled by fun characters having various video game shenanigans.
Enjoyable read. Would like to read the next book if there is one. The two main protagonists are female, I suspect the author is also. C’mon, use your first name instead of initials..I don’t appreciate the subterfuge and manipulation. Terrible grammar, spelling, and it seems zero editing.
Really liked the story, but the book definitely needs editing. :) While I am able to easily overlook the errors a lot of people would be bothered by them.
Had a blast reading this fun new space opera LitRPG novel! Had a great pair of female protagonists, the MC was definitely someone whose head I thoroughly enjoyed being in. Many laughs, lots of great sci-fi geek Easter eggs and just an all around fun read.
I will say it was a bit of a slow burn though so be prepared for that, no immediate OP characters. This part of the story arc focuses on the beginning area of the game world and leaves plenty of room for future growth and adventures.
Very much looking forward to the next book in the series. :)
Oh my dear author, there is a place, their is a people. And using them both rather interchangeably and frequently in the same sentence? Please, your story is very good, your editing not so much. Please do better. Loads of dropped words, Yoda speak and rather terrible grammar skills can make this rather difficult at times. I love the characters, excellent development btw, and two of the more likable characters I've run in to lately. And femalish as well, well done indeed. I'll be looking for a sequel!
Started reading this story lightly the first few chapters put me of the world building started of slow and the writer got a little to detailed with certain things that pulled me out of my immersion but once I got deeper into the story and around the time of the roach boss the story kicked in. I love the light nerd subtly and both characters are great. I'm looking forward to more dungeon crawling with killer air though . Ill be waiting for part 2.
This book needs a good editor. However the storyline makes up for it. This is one of the best plot and story wise. The main character is a tough as nails kinda girl, and while she gets some good items she isn't suddenly OP. She still has to work for everything she gets. I loved this story and will be looking for book two.
A fun read with a nice VR game concept, both the method and the background, which has lot of 60-80's music references and plenty of 1980-2010's pop culture references.
Would have given it a 5 start rating, but found a few typos and a lot of grammar issues, the latter of which distracted from the story and reading flow. Still, you should easily give it a shot if you like LitRPGs.
Girls just want to have fun, and shoot things with big guns.
I enjoyed the novel. Some areas could use a bit more editing. I'd definitely read more from this author. The game mechanics took a back seat to the story, which was great.
The authors style and UK English can be a little confusing, but this was a great book. I read it in just a few days and have added the author to my watch list. I hope there is a sequel.
