Remember is one of these books you have high expectations because of the interesting blurb and cover and then you get to read it and you realise how disappointing it is. I ended up having a headache and my nerves broken.
Writing Style
I can't really say that I have a lot of complaints about the writing style. I mean, the book was easy to read, written in first person POV, without complicated sentences and difficult words. As an international reader, with flawed english skills I could easily follow. The physical description of the characters was awesome and I could picture them perfectly. I was alsmost satisfied. What bothered me a lot was that many scenes weren't described fully and they didn't make sense at all. They needed more details and work to be decent.
Plot/World building
I'll start witht he fact that the story was predictable in many ways. Especially the romance; I knew what was coming and I wasn't surprised not even once. The book starts and three HOT guys are head over heals for the heroine. COME ON! Why? Too much testosterone and too mainstream.
This is so passe and outworn and authors should try something new.
If you choose to ignore that, you still can't enjoy the book. The pace is so slow and you have to reach the 88% of the book to remember that you're reading a paranormal young adult book instead of a contemporary, high school drama. That's not cool, okay? I've chosen to read the book because I was in the mood for ya pa.
Speaking of paranormal! In this universe there are shifters, vampires and angels/nephilim. I was excited because it has been a while since the last time I read about these kinds. The the author just ruins it by mixing them, writing about hybrids and curses and then a prophecy I still don't understand what it is about. Why? Because I received all the information in the last 12% of the book. NO! That's just wrong.
I get that the author tried to make something unique and impressive out of mainstream stuff but she failed big time. Keep it simple girl. If you haven't figured out what you want to write and there's a mess in your head then stick to the usual "normal" paranormal stuff.
Characters
All three basic characters were extremely boring and predictable and not to mention how annoying they were. The book goes straight to my 'annoying characters' and 'no no no no" shelves.
Charlie is obviously an insanely beautiful, 17-yearls old girl but of course she refuses to believe that she is and she dresses like a tomboy. She is just so different that the other 'trashy' girls. I hate when this happens. I hate hate hate hate it. Why would all girls be unworthy but the female lead?
I was this close to just dnf the book but I was so curious to see where this was going so I had to go on. So dear Charlie fell in love faster than the speed of lighting with mysterious Peter (who was not so mysterious after all) but she couldn't decide if she wanted to be with him or with her former best friend Alex who 'loved' her since childhood but was in a relationship with another girl. I get that she was confused because she was afraid that a relationship would ruin their friendship and all. What I didn't get was that she was sending him away with words and a minute later she would be all over him, touching him and provoking him. Then she would feel guilty because she also liked Peter and that was on repeat the whole book.
Alex was cute and friendly at first. He was treating his girlfriend just fine and he was keeping his distance. When we were introduced to Peter, he suddenly turned jealous without having the right to be and overprotective. Dude you have a girlfriend and you were rejected so mind your own business. He did stuff I didn't approve in order to win Charlie's heart and he kept too many secrets. No me gusta.
Peter on the other hand was dark and supposedly mysterious at first. Later he turned out to be predictable and boring. He was also bipolar. He was flirting with Charlie and when she was flirting back he was accusing her for doing so and he was repeating that it wasn't right for them to flirt. Then he flirted again.
Overall
I am disappointed and angry. The story started sometime near 80% of the book and then I was overflowed by too much information and I couldn't comprehend what I was reading. I still didn't understand about the prophecy and I am not going to read it again in order to do so. I am done with this book.

First of all, I'am so glad they changed the cover to what it is now, because it was so much better than the cover in the ARC... Anyway..
Back to the review.
The book started off with Charlie, short for Charlize, having a hard time accepting the death of her father, being a hardcore daddy's girl that she is. But that was not the only reason why moving on is not so easy for her, she couldn't believe how her father died on the very woods they grew up with.
Characters can always make or break a YA book for me. I was able to get past my issues in this book because the characters in this book are relatable and easy to sympathize with. Charlie's not a typical-ass-kicking heroine I usually like on a paranormal YA book, in fact she was always saved by awesome guys, not that I'am complaining really, but she feels bad that she's always saved and she wants to focused on getting better so guys around her wouldn't have to do it for her every single time she's in danger, which is almost every freaking time since every party involved, somehow wanted to get their hands on Charlie.
Romance Ahh.. love, the thing that makes this world and the YA world go round... I don't hate love triangles. Really, I love to pick teams and see it to end, but ofcourse, it still depend on how the development goes, and this is one of those books that doesn't annoy me. Alex, is Charlie's childhood friend that has been inlove with her since forever, unfortunately, she doesn't feel the same way, then she met Peter, the homeschooled tattooed guy that save her more than once plus, he's dangerously handsome.
I don't want to say the circumstances of their relationship because I may have to reveal the mysteries of the characters which I don't really want to spoil. Those revelation was what made this book much more interesting for me.
My issue with this book is that there were a lot of typos and Grammatical errors. there were also sentences that doesn't make sense to me, I can't quote it anymore because I accidentally deleted my notes. Anyway, I know, there are a lot of those errors in my reviews too, but let's just not compare since this is published book. There were also moment when I felt like some of the things that took place in the book seemed to be put together in a rush. I didn't really know how publishing books work, I just hope that those errors are corrected because this book had a lot of potential.
If you're like me, who can overlook the issues of the book because of the interesting plot and intriguing characters, I'am sure you'll definitely enjoy this book.

Plunged into a world not of her making, there are those that will hunt her, a foe that calls her Little Queen, and her torn heart. Most of all, she will have to remember and face her memories if she is to survive.I honestly don't know what I was expecting when I started reading this book. The cover was what took my attention and after reading the blurb I was a little bit intrigued since it doesn't really gave out any hint, but this Urban paranormal YA book is unexpectedly fun. I was actually surprised. Although I did have some issues with this book, I was able to look past it because like I said, this book was surprisingly good, plot and character wise.

My father had been an excellent outdoorsman. There was no way he could have died in our beloved woods.The whole book practically revolved around the mystery of her father's death. But I'am not complaining because I've never experienced dull moments throughout the duration of the book, it was actually a pretty fast-paced read.

Where do I start? I hate to rate books lower than three stars, because the author really tries, so I take that into consideration. I couldn't bear to make it lower. The biggest problem? GRAMMAR.
Who's editing these books? I came across a "your" in place of "you're," "oblivious" instead of "obvious," and other word confusions. This was mixed in with sentence fragments, change in tense, and quotations that start and end wherever they felt like. If it's a rough draft: fine! If it's not...well, then, Houston: we have a problem.
I could tell the author tried. The beginning sentences were long and awkward (and clunky), but I got through it. But every time you come across something in a book that just doesn't flow right, you are reminded you are reading something. And you don't want to be reminded you're reading something; you want a suspension of disbelief. You want to be a part of the story.
Speaking of the story...it was interesting. It kept me reading despite the technical problems. The plot was creative: I have to admit, it reminded me of Twilight with tweaks to it, but I liked the concept. Honestly, if there weren't so many errors, I probably would've given it four stars. I always start with five stars in my mind, then deduct and add according to what I read. If the plot hadn't been intriguing, it probably would've only received two stars. I don't think I've ever given a one star review, but that would have to be in the case of a horribly written, boring book. Otherwise, I can't justify giving anything lower than two.
I really had high hopes for this book. The description made it sound awesome! I would up my rating if the writing was heavily edited. But to those out there who are thinking of reading it, and can ignore editing errors, then I will say that the plot and characters made me enjoy the story.
There is hope for Remember....but only if the author goes page by page and cleans up the prose. And I hope she does.
Because honestly: I would give the second book in the series a chance. Editing is not something that takes away from the essence of the story, and it can always be addressed. Good editing and a bad story? Now that's not salvageable.

I dived into this book without any expectations, and Holy Moly! I was really satisfied.
For me it was a 5 stars read, but I reduced a star because there were too many typos, and some sentences didn't make sense. That's the only problem I had.
The plot is amazing, and unexpected. The characters are in some ways relatable, they are fun to read about.
Remember is a good start to a trilogy.
The love triangle in this book is one of the most confusing things I've ever read, and I loved it.
I don't know who'll get the girl, but I am sure my heart will break for the guy who will not.
I still don't know whom to ship, because both guys were really nice.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.
So many good things to say about this book! Let’s start with the characters. Charlie is an amazing lead character. She was raised to be tough and independent and to stand on her own two feet. These are the kinds of girls I love to see as the lead characters in books. I am a firm believer that while dreaming about Prince Charming is great, our girls should be taught to be like Charlie and not be waiting around for a guy to come and save them. Then there are the guys! Peter is the dark, mysterious bad boy. Tattoos and piercings but an amazingly sweet guy underneath it all. Then there is Adam. The best friend, loyal and all-American guy. Both of these guys are great and Charlie has to choose between them. Not an easy decision when one of them will end up hurt and half her heart will be broken. While this book is a bit Twilight-esque it is still a great read with lots of mystery and a great plot. The only real issue I had with this book is the editing, or lack thereof. This book just had so many issues it almost appeared as if it had never been edited. It drove me a bit crazy and I probably wouldn't have read the entire book if the story hadn't been so great. If editing issues drive you crazy too it might make this book a hard read. Overall I loved the story and can’t wait for the next book…hopefully minus the editing issues.

I give it 3.5 stars. I would give it 4.5 if there weren't so many grammatical errors and typos that some sentences didn't make much sense. I just make up a sentence in head to replace the unreadable ones. It seems that there wasn't any editing or proof reading done before this was published. That said, the book itself was a good read.

Mysterious start… I immediately had a whole slew of questions that were just itching to be answered.
This was a 4 star book for me for about three fourths of the book, with the possibility of more. I loved the mystery. I loved the unexplained. I loved the questions. I loved the hints dropped, ever so slightly...
Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the answers I got and how I got them.
Information Overload
I would have much preferred if the mysterious vibe running through this book had been kept up and hints had continued to be dropped -- granted I would have preferred that more hints be dropped sooner (I was getting impatient for answers). But I would have liked the information to be shown rather than told.
Peter and Alex had been unwilling to give Charlie any information at all during the first three quarters of the book, and then we get a whole chapter of Alex explaining, a chapter of Peter explaining, and a chapter of the two explaining together -- one after another.
(Beware of Spoilers).
We've got Yenaloshi, we've got skinwalkers, we've got shifters, we've got werewolves, we've got vampires, we've got angels, we've got fallen angels, we got a Creator, we’ve got Lucifer, we've got demons, we've got nephilim.
What's wrong? Couldn't Ms. Dermott think of any other paranormal or apocalyptic beings?
Don’t worry, she could. Later we learn about something called “witch blood legacy” and creatures called “jackals.”
There's no way I could have guessed all the wacky elements involved.
And I like to be able to guess... I don't like predictable, don't get me wrong, I like surprises. And sure there were surprises here, but I like surprises where I can hit myself on the head in retrospect and say, "Oh! That's why he said that, that's why she did that, that's why this-and-that were mentioned... Wow! I didn't see that coming!"
And while I clearly didn't see most of the information that was dropped in Chapters 28-30 coming -- well, except for the possibility of vampires, shifters, and skinwalkers -- the others were impossible to guess, and that is no fun.
Gender Roles
I didn't like the gender roles in this book. “Tomboy”? Is that still a thing? Ms. Dermott actually uses the term “tomboy.” Charlie is the only girl to join (or to be welcomed) into the football game? I thought that girls could be whoever they wanted these days and no one would suggest they are trying to "act like a boy" if they play football.
I played football, baseball, basketball, soccer as a child, teen, and still do as an adult. Back in the day, I was the only girl on my little league baseball team, and that was a thing. I had to fight for the right to join the team and I had to be twice as good as any boy my age in order to get a starting position. I thought we'd moved on since then. I thought we paved the way for girls so that the term "act like a girl" could mean "fast, strong, smart, athletic, brave" or whatever you want it to mean because girls can be themselves. Terms like “tomboy” have no place in today’s world.
I was also tired of hearing how Charlie's father didn't raise her to be a wimp (and have her constantly doing wimpy things) -- but what about her mother? Did her mother raise her to be a wimp?
Sure, Charlie could play a mean game of football, but she was a bit emotionally wimpy in my mind.
I thought Charlie's mother got a wimpy role in this. Late in the game, we learn about some "witch blood legacy" that Charlie may have inherited from her mother, but Charlie does not even question what that might be? Why not?
Other than the “tomboy,”Charlie, who sometimes "acts like a boy" and other times acts like “stupid girls do in stupid horror movies,” the women and girls in this book don’t get a good rap. Charlie’s mother is non-influential, MC is ditzy, Raine is plain mean, and Angelina is pure evil.
The Climax
After all that happened, did Charlie really go to a party in a mine and then run into a mine alone in the dark? Okay, there is a fine line between brave and stupid. Come on! Normally, I would get that she needs to move on and not to live her life in fear, but just nights before, she had almost become a vampire meal and wolf bait! Now, granted, these things have never happened to me, but I think I would act a bit more cautious until I figured out better what was going on, who I could trust, and what exactly I was (and what the others were).
And what was with the whole kidnapping ending? It was so blurry; I don't know that it really served a purpose as far as moving the story along.
While some elements of this story were impossible to predict, others were too easy. Having Alex's dad be the murderer of Charlie's dad seems too obvious. From the moment that we found out he beat up his son regularly, Alex's dad became a candidate. Even the police suspected him -- so that says it must be obvious. I was hoping for more of a shocker revelation. I still don't know why Alex's dad would kill Charlie's dad. Charlie's dad had already agreed to the "mating" and had already given up his role as leader of the pack. It doesn't make much sense.
Unanswered Questions
I still have some unanswered questions. For example, why does the history teacher stop talking about the Yenaloshi tribe all of a sudden? Who shut him down? He was so into it. He's doing his graduate studies on the topic.
What is “witch blood legacy”? We know that Charlie may have inherited it from her mother, but we don’t know what it is, and none of the characters question or explain it.
Is Peter still alive? I think Peter may still be alive, since Charlie saw "something" out of the corner of her eye as she was leaving. Why didn't she go back to check? Oh, ya. Cuz Alex told her not to. Huh? No disrespect to Alex -- he saved her and all (thank you, Alex!), but Peter also has angel blood, he may be able to survive the daylight, and he may have needed help. Charlie should have demanded to go back. She was weak, I get it, and Ms. Dermott wants to hold out some surprises for the sequel, I get that too. But still. It didn't feel that it fit with Charlie's character.
Final Thoughts
If I had received an early draft of this book, I would have suggested that Ms. Dermott pick one or two paranormal or biblical beings and expand on them. I really liked the idea of the indigenous people being "skinwalkers" -- I would have liked to know more about the Yenaloshi. Ms. Dermott could have created a whole legendary history based around this topic.
But having Yenaloshi, skinwalkers, shifters, werewolves, vampires, angels, fallen angels, a Creator, Lucifer, demons, nephilim, jackals, and witch blood legacy was, for me, overkill.

And while I clearly didn't see most of the information that was dropped in Chapters 28-30 coming -- well, except for the possibility of vampires, shifters, and skinwalkers -- the others were impossible to guess, and that is no fun.
Gender Roles
I didn't like the gender roles in this book. “Tomboy”? Is that still a thing? Ms. Dermott actually uses the term “tomboy.” Charlie is the only girl to join (or to be welcomed) into the football game? I thought that girls could be whoever they wanted these days and no one would suggest they are trying to "act like a boy" if they play football.
I played football, baseball, basketball, soccer as a child, teen, and still do as an adult. Back in the day, I was the only girl on my little league baseball team, and that was a thing. I had to fight for the right to join the team and I had to be twice as good as any boy my age in order to get a starting position. I thought we'd moved on since then. I thought we paved the way for girls so that the term "act like a girl" could mean "fast, strong, smart, athletic, brave" or whatever you want it to mean because girls can be themselves. Terms like “tomboy” have no place in today’s world.
I was also tired of hearing how Charlie's father didn't raise her to be a wimp (and have her constantly doing wimpy things) -- but what about her mother? Did her mother raise her to be a wimp?
Sure, Charlie could play a mean game of football, but she was a bit emotionally wimpy in my mind.
I thought Charlie's mother got a wimpy role in this. Late in the game, we learn about some "witch blood legacy" that Charlie may have inherited from her mother, but Charlie does not even question what that might be? Why not?
Other than the “tomboy,”Charlie, who sometimes "acts like a boy" and other times acts like “stupid girls do in stupid horror movies,” the women and girls in this book don’t get a good rap. Charlie’s mother is non-influential, MC is ditzy, Raine is plain mean, and Angelina is pure evil.
The Climax
After all that happened, did Charlie really go to a party in a mine and then run into a mine alone in the dark? Okay, there is a fine line between brave and stupid. Come on! Normally, I would get that she needs to move on and not to live her life in fear, but just nights before, she had almost become a vampire meal and wolf bait! Now, granted, these things have never happened to me, but I think I would act a bit more cautious until I figured out better what was going on, who I could trust, and what exactly I was (and what the others were).
And what was with the whole kidnapping ending? It was so blurry; I don't know that it really served a purpose as far as moving the story along.
While some elements of this story were impossible to predict, others were too easy. Having Alex's dad be the murderer of Charlie's dad seems too obvious. From the moment that we found out he beat up his son regularly, Alex's dad became a candidate. Even the police suspected him -- so that says it must be obvious. I was hoping for more of a shocker revelation. I still don't know why Alex's dad would kill Charlie's dad. Charlie's dad had already agreed to the "mating" and had already given up his role as leader of the pack. It doesn't make much sense.
Unanswered Questions
I still have some unanswered questions. For example, why does the history teacher stop talking about the Yenaloshi tribe all of a sudden? Who shut him down? He was so into it. He's doing his graduate studies on the topic.
What is “witch blood legacy”? We know that Charlie may have inherited it from her mother, but we don’t know what it is, and none of the characters question or explain it.
Is Peter still alive? I think Peter may still be alive, since Charlie saw "something" out of the corner of her eye as she was leaving. Why didn't she go back to check? Oh, ya. Cuz Alex told her not to. Huh? No disrespect to Alex -- he saved her and all (thank you, Alex!), but Peter also has angel blood, he may be able to survive the daylight, and he may have needed help. Charlie should have demanded to go back. She was weak, I get it, and Ms. Dermott wants to hold out some surprises for the sequel, I get that too. But still. It didn't feel that it fit with Charlie's character.
Final Thoughts
If I had received an early draft of this book, I would have suggested that Ms. Dermott pick one or two paranormal or biblical beings and expand on them. I really liked the idea of the indigenous people being "skinwalkers" -- I would have liked to know more about the Yenaloshi. Ms. Dermott could have created a whole legendary history based around this topic.
But having Yenaloshi, skinwalkers, shifters, werewolves, vampires, angels, fallen angels, a Creator, Lucifer, demons, nephilim, jackals, and witch blood legacy was, for me, overkill.

The love between Peter and Charlize "Charlie" reminds me of Ethan and Lena from the Beautiful Creatures - two that shouldn't be together, but can't mistake the pull each has on the other. It's a beautiful love story with an exciting plot. The mystery behind Charlie's death and what's going on with her memories will keep you reading on, not to mention the cuteness of Charlie and Peter, and the deep bond between Charlie and Alex. Then the sense of camaraderie between Peter and Alex will make you want to find out what is going on.
I received a proof copy of the e-book, which clearly states that it is not the final edited print, which will contain spelling and grammar errors. And there were. So that took a little bit of getting use to. However, it's still worth the read and glowing remarks from me. That is why it's 4 stars instead of 5. If there was a 1/2 star, it would get it.
In all, I love this book. I love the story. I love the characters (all well developed - at least the main characters for this first book). I enjoyed it so much and were so engrossed in the plot, that it continues to captivate my mind and thoughts even days after. After reading this book, I immediately went to find out more info on Ms. Dermott and when the rest of the books of the series will be available, and I'm disappointed to say I was not able to find out that info. If anyone does find out, please pass the info along. Like me, I'm pretty sure after reading this book, you can't wait for the next one.

Alex: The classic best-friend-lover. A character that is typical in a fair amount of young adult romance novels. Alex’s personality at first had me a bit disgusted, because I figured he was just like most guys in these kinds of books-confident and cocky. As the book continued though, I found more of an emotional side to him than I expected, and ending up liking him more than I imagined.
Peter: And of course, the mysterious bad boy who’s too gorgeous to be real. Peter is a fairly regular love interest in most ways. However, at the last few chapters he made some choices that surprised me and ended up making me reevaluate my opinion of him.

Even though the main plot line was common, I really enjoyed the different aspects the author added to this story. The characters weren’t what I expected, and the paranormal aspects were also something I haven’t really run across, which made the book much more interesting. I found myself not wanting to stop reading a few times. However, there were quite a few typos and grammatical mistakes that made the book less appealing and harder to understand. I think there’s a strong storyline here, and there’s a ton of potential to where the story could lead. I look forward to reading the second book!

A mysterious boy named Peter escorts her home but he can't seem to keep his distance despite the fact that he should. As their relationship intensifies, Charlie is drawn into the unexpected world of the supernatural where even Alex is keeping his own secrets. Caught in an unexpected love triangle and a fight for power, Charlie will have to survive the overwhelming secrets and find out exactly what happened to her father-or it could cost her, her life.
Synopsis looks great right? The book was great! Amazing even..but then why 3.5 STARS???? Grammar mistakes and missing words!!!! IN THE FIRST PARAGRAPH OF CHAPTER 1. And for a book that was published about six months ago-that's kind of a big deal. At first i thought i could ignore it but the one in the first paragraph of a first chapter really bugged me. I mean the first chapter is supposed to captivate you and make you want to keep reading. But anyway that kind of threw me off. I know there are grammar mistakes in my reviews sometimes..but for a published book i expected more.
So why did i keep reading? Because the plot was great! It is definitely an amazing book! Absolutely thrilling and enticing setting! You really do not see that ending and figure out what we're dealing with until Charlie does..so it was pretty cool to be on the journey with her and not in advance.
And let's not mention the guys! Peter and Alex? DROOL. Not usually a fan of love triangles but this one wasn't so bad. Both guys were incredibly hot, sweet, funny and yet unique.
Charlie as a protagonist was pretty much awesome. She has a don't-mess-with-me attitude. She's strong and does not allow herself to be bullied. Definitely not vain-just normal. And i guess that's what i liked about her. She's someone you can relate to and cheer on.
This book has AMAZING potential.I seriously see it overpowering twilight. I recommend this to everyone but it would be even better if an editor could come and touch up this diamond in the rough!!! I did like the book and i'm interested in seeing what happens next!

This was an extraordinary book with a strong lead female character that was awesome and the male lead characters kept me riveted to the book. I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in return for an honest review. Thank you.
This is a YA paranormal romance with twists that made it something that was hard to put down. The heroine Charlie is trying to accept the death of her father in unusual circumstances. She finds herself involved in a love triangle between two very different guys, Peter a complete stranger who comes out of nowhere to help her one night and Alex, a boy who she grew up with and once considered her best friend.
But things and people are not what they seem and life is about to change radically.
What is the secret of the "lodge" her father used to belong to? Who lives on the forbidden land near her house? How are Peter and Alex able to do the things they do? Why is Charlie visited by these mysterious dreams/sleepwalking episodes? Who keeps trying to kill her?
The plot of the book pulls you in and the love for the characters keeps you turning page after page not wanting to stop reading. The first half of the book sets the scene and the second half of the book begins to build up the plot and draws the reader into mystery and the people who live in the town. This is the first book of a trilogy and I can not wait to read the next installment as this book has whet my appetite and I want to know what happens next. I would definitely recommend it as a book to read. In fact as soon as I read it I started trying to fine out on-line when the next book would be out. My only compliant is the ARC draft had a higher than average proofing issues which I hope will be fixed in the final draft. However, the book is so good that I was willing to keep reading despite this issue. If you want a book with an interesting plot and characters that grab your heart and interest then read this book.

BOOK REVIEW: REMEMBER BY SHANNON DERMOTT
Reading the first part, questions clouded my mind. The strong need to find answers- even if the story's just starting, it was there, it was truly intense. This reader was held captive.
Another factor that made me admire the book is Charlize- ladies and gentlemen, the main character. You know that feeling of intensity as well as the stimulation? it was heightened when the character actually reflects you.
As the story flows, I and Charlie are on the same page.Both puzzled, not knowing what to think, who to trust, what to believe and what are the necessary things to do.
The romance on the other hand wasn't quite what I had expected. It wasn't dreadful neither terrific. There should be more passion, more feelings. At least chemistry, but there's none. Thank goodness it wasn't that awful, actually the love interest of the characters was rather pleasing, more realistic.
Answers finally came at almost half of the book. This reader was very anticipated, she'll kill for answers because the situations itself are making her crazy. MIND BLOWN! Who would've thought that there'd be a bunch of combined shifters, skin-walkers, werewolves, vampires, demons, time weaver, and mind you people, angels. No, this is too much.
Only few questions have been answered, and holy hell as much as I wanted to get mad because of that, it was actually a great thing. The story's flow was really inviting, the plot was satisfying, also the way it was written, really exquisite.
THAT ENDING! SUCH A CLIFFHANGER, I WANTED MORE. I NEED THE SECOND BOOK ASAP! LIKE RIGHT NOW. I MEAN, WHAT HAPPENED TO PETER? WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO ALEX AND CHARLIZE? WHAT WILL BE HER DECISIONS? QUESTIONS, THERE ARE PLENTY OF QUESTIONS AND THE PILE IS ADDING UP. BOOK TWO, RIGHT NOW! THE FEEEELS.

I probably would have given this book 4 stars if the grammatical errors were not so bad. I mean, I am a very forgiving reader when it comes to grammar but if the author misspells simple words or the sentences do not make any sense then I will become frustrated. These grammatical errors detracted from what was a nice young adult romance.
The book follows Charlie as she deals with her dad's sudden death by wild animals and the meeting of a new guy named Peter that seems to show up whenever she is in trouble. Charlie is then pulled in two different directions when her best friend from childhood, Alex, begins to pursue her affections again. Add in a dose of supernatural trouble and that was this book.
I have to say that this book was kind of predictable in the way that many young adult books are; however, I did enjoy reading it to find out what will happen to Charlie. I do have to say that I was not a fan of Peter as a love interest at all and I don't understand why she acts all high and mighty with Alex when she goes off with Peter whenever he asks. I also did not see any redeeming qualities with Peter besides that fact that he saved Charlie's life a couple times. Charlie did become annoying as the book progressed but I did admire many of her characteristics as a person. I was intrigued by the plot line and I am curious to see where this series will end up so this book was not a disappointment to read. I sincerely hope that the grammatical errors will sharply decrease in the next book. Shannon has a talent for writing and I praise her efforts for this book. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for the next book and if it does not cost too much I may even purchase it.

I was intrigued by the plot line and I am curious to see where this series will end up so this book was not a disappointment to read. I sincerely hope that the grammatical errors will sharply decrease in the next book. Shannon has a talent for writing and I praise her efforts for this book. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for the next book and if it does not cost too much I may even purchase it.

I was interested through the whole book, and I liked the main characters. There's lots of action to keep the book from being boring, and I really enjoy when different supernatural beings are mixed. I did like Charlie, but I wish she wasn't so blasé about a lot of things, but I did enjoy her character most of the time, and I think there's a lot of room for her to grow in this trilogy, and I'm looking forward to reading more about her. I liked both of the boys, one a bit more than the other, which would be Peter, and I liked him better because I just couldn't stand Raine, so that put a negative light on Alex for me. If Raine ends up with anyone, that's a shame because she is despicable, and I don't get how anyone would want to be with her after her lies, and the fact the Alex was with her reflects badly on him, so that's why I'm not completely feeling him, and because of his actions he really screwed himself with Charlie. Of course Charlie seems to take a lot in stride, so who knows what she'll feel, and now that I think about it, Charlie is a bit cold, I still like her though. I like the hint of mystery in this book, and while it may be a bit predictable, I still think the story is unique enough to have an appeal of its own. I will definitely read the next book, and I'm hoping a lot of it will be away from any school yard drama because those are the parts in books that I don't enjoy; stuff like the whole Raine situation. Really enjoyed this book, and it has the roots for an epic adventure!

A love triangle between Charlie the heroine of the book who is trying to come to terms with the death of her father in unusual circumstances and two completely different guys, Peter a complete stranger who comes out of nowhere to help her one night and Alex, a boy who she grew up with and once considered her best friend.
But things and people are not what they seem and life is about to change radically.
What is the secret of the "lodge" her father used to belong to? Who lives on the land opposite to her house? How are Peter and Alex able to do the things they do? Why is Charlie visited by these mysterious dreams/sleepwalking episodes?
This is a great book with a new type of adversary. A great plot. The first half of the book sets the scene and the second half of the book begins to build up the plot and draws the reader into mystery and the people who live in the town. This is the first book of a trilogy and I look forward to reading the next instalment as this book has whet my appetite and I want to know what happens next.. I would definitely recommend it as a book to read and a trilogy to look out for, perhaps one to rival the twilight .

I received my copy of Remember by Shannon Dermott thanks to Net Galley. :) Remember was a great read - a fun YA paranormal romance. It was definitely entertaining and a book that I really couldn't put down because I was excited to see what would happen next!
The main character is a girl named Charlie who is coping from the beginning of the story with the mysterious death of her father. Charlie is a strong character and always tries to do what is right, but she is dealing with a lot of emotions. She encounters a boy named Peter, who is kind of a mystery to her, but also involved in this story is her childhood best friend, Alex. We follow the adventures of them, with plenty of mystery and paranormal elements. I really liked Charlie's voice, and even though she made mistakes at times, I liked her. She is family-oriented, determined, and very caring. But she is going through a lot at the time.

Remember is about a young girl who is brought back to life after a lethal encounter with a paranormal force. She is completely shaken up and can hardly believe that she is alive, little does she know that her life is about to change forever.
Remember is not a well written book. The very first line carries the phrase
"....bleeding from her various wounds..."
Not the best of first lines by a long shot.
And the rest of the book takes it's cues from the first lines, it doesn't fail in being consistently angsty and logic-defying and error ridden and repulsive. At one point I found that the exclamation "Whoa!" had been spelt as "Woe!"
And why would any girl or woman ever describe herself as having "...minor curves...: ?! What, pray, are minor curves?
Also; crucial characters are introduced with no context and at random. Cheesy lines are thrown around, idioms are misused.

July 25, 2015I really wanted to like this book. I liked the cover, the blurb on the back sounded interesting and I like a good paranormal YA. Unfortunately I didn't get far enough into it to decide if I liked it or not. This book needed a seriously good edit. I couldn't get any further than 25% because it was just so hard to read. There were spelling mistakes, grammar mistakes, disjointed sentences etc. It read like it was written by someone whose first language is not English. And I don't have a problem with that but it shouldn't read like that. It was so disjointed that it was taking me so much longer than it normally does to read it because I had to keep re-reading the sentences. It's a shame really because like I said I was looking forward to this one. I really feel like this book is not fit to publish the way it is.

Lately, I've had a book block and to my surprise, this was the perfect book to remedy this little situation.
I'm a massive fan of all things fantasy and supernatural. When I read the blurb I was excited and knew it was right up my alley -or should I say right up my woods.
After the first chapter, I was hooked. This was plastered next to be for the whole day, it was captivating and I was fascinated by what was going to happen next. At the rate I was turning the pages, people may have thought I was a vampire.
I am so so so excited for the next book. Bring it on!

This book was a challenge for me. In truth, I started reading it, but I did not finish it. I tried and tried to focus in, however, it was an epic fail. I could not connect with the story. After three attempts, I admitted defeated and placed it in a DNF pile. I hate that! A DNF-rating is super rare for me. It drains me to even open up that can of sludge. Still, it exists for a reason.
After having perused so many three to five star ratings, I just knew I was missing something good, but in this instance, I guess that was just the way it had to be. I actually chose to review this title because it was recommended by an author that I like and admire. (Insert a pregnant pause. Listen for the sound of chirping crickets.) :-/

It might be like a 3.5. The editing was very off, and that was a huge distraction. Missing words, wrong words, wrong punctuation. I know I've said before I can be a snob, but really, it helps the flow of the story.
I wish the paranormal aspect had been introduced just a bit sooner. It felt drug out after awhile. And I just didn't like Peter or Alex. I hope in the next books one or both becomes stronger, or something, because I hated the hot and cold of Peter, and the wishy-washy of Alex.

I read this book cover to cover in one sitting. Just to say I really enjoyed it, though it did ring of twilight here and there, but held its own at the same time. Suspense, intrigue, drama, emotions, action and paranormal I'm hooked, I am eagerly awaiting book 2.

Interesting new series!
This first opus is taking it sweet time to reveal its secrets.
You have to wait until the last part of the story to understand what kind of supernatural beings you are dealing with.
So, if you are not patient, don't worry.
First, you will be able to enjoy a love triangle.
However, I was not really a fan of the way Charlie has understood fer fate as if she was just a piece of meat. Not a fan also of waiting so long to discover the beast she is hidding.
But the read is nice and I've turned the pages without getting bored so for me it's enough.

Charlize aka Charlie has been going through a terrible time recently since her father was found murdered in their beloved woods. Charlie refuses to believe that animals killed him like the police believe, but there is no evidence otherwise. While trying to put her life back together, strange things start to happen, like passing out and waking up in the forest, the feeling that someone is watching her, and her odd nightmares that feel real. To make matters more complicated, her old best friend Alex has been hanging around more, and a new mysterious boy keeps showing up whenever she is in danger. There is something odd going on and Charlie wants to figure out the truth.
I was drawn in to reading this book by the pretty cover. Shallow, yes, but truthful. I started reading and can honestly say I had no idea what I was getting into genre-wise. So after reading a few chapters, I went to Goodreads and re-read the book synopsis which had intrigued me originally (and that I had promptly forgotten). Well, the synopsis, in my humble opinion, does not fit the book and it is kind of misleading (not in a bad way, I am glad nothing is revealed) but it is so vague and has none of the meat of the story mentioned I was surprised. Usually a synopsis at least hints at a genre/classification for a book, but this I feel was lacking. That being said, I was not certain what direction the book was taking while I was reading it, and I enjoyed the guessing. Sure, I had some ideas and speculation, but nothing was set in stone or so blatantly obvious as to what would happen next. I was caught up in Charlie’s emotional struggle as to how to cope with her dad’s death, which love interest she was more drawn to, her struggles to be a teen in a world filled with drama, her strange nightmares, and the random supernatural elements thrown into the plot occasionally. There was a vivid cast of side characters, each interesting and independent, which helped the story along as well. I enjoyed this read, regardless of the terrible ending and the fact it is the first in a trilogy that requires me to wait to get my hands on the next book.
And yes, I did mention a love triangle. I personally don’t like love triangles in my books, I enjoy other conflicts as plot devices instead of the back and forth of a dreaded triangle. Charlie has always lived in the shadows, not having really any friends (except her dad and nature) and never having a boyfriend. Well, now she has two very attractive man-boys throwing themselves (sorta-kinda) at her and she feels torn as to who she wants. There is safe comfortable Alex, who was her best friend for years until they grew apart and has now made his interest in her known. And then there is the very hot, mysterious and maybe a little dangerous Peter who comes and goes as he pleases but Charlie can’t help but want regardless of her good intentions. I know who I liked, no question about it (at least at the start, I may have wavered near the end I admit)- Peter. I liked his brooding and darkness, as well as his honesty to her about his feelings and intentions, and where the relationship was going. Alex drove me insane- he would claim to want her, and then be back with his evil-ex-Raine and flaunt her around, and then try to make a move again. I wanted to shake him and have him make a real play for Charlie and when he finally did I wanted to cheer for his gumption (finally), not some half-assed whatever he did before.
The last 70ish pages of the book took a concerning turn when it came to my interest level. There was a bombshell reveal that felt a little too much like the Twilight series(which I did not like the original so I had zero interest in reading a knock off). Also, the angst level of Charlie was almost overwhelming- I love him, no I love him, no I love him...I am ready for sex, I'm not read for sex, take me now, don't touch me... It was too much for me. I wanted her to pick a guy and then just go for it but her indecision almost drove me mad. Lastly, the ending of the book had a lot happening action and info wise, and it was in a very short amount of time (like 10 pages) so I was a little confused and wish it took place over a longer time period. I don’t want to give anything away, but the ending of the book has some serious heartbreak bombs dropped so I have no idea what to expect from the complicated love situation that is Charlie.
Overall I enjoyed this book and will come back for another helping when the second book in the series is available. I would gladly read more from the author because I enjoyed her ability to create developed characters and a fast moving plot.

Opinion: I read through this book CRAZY fast! So obviously, it has the “hook-you-in” factor going for it. Though I might lose some readers with this next sentence, I know I will hook a few others. This book feels like a different take on the ever so popular Twilight books, but it THANKFULLY lacks the sparkly vampires and awkwardness that Twilight ultimately is.
A few weeks after the recent and mysterious death of her father, Charlize Daniels is just now going back through her normal daily activities. Her high school is filled with eyes constantly following her, waiting for her to break down. But among those eyes is her old best friend, Alex, who is just as much dreamy as he is protective over Charlize. But one day when Charlize, or Charlie, is alone in the forest, she becomes face to face with a boy that saves her life. Peter is mysterious and dark, but always seems to be there right when Charlie needs him the most. Soon Charlie’s world becomes engulfed in a whirlwind of adventures and secrets, and she learns that not everything has been what it seems.
One great thing about this book is that for the most part of this story, the author keeps you completely confused and blind to what is going on. Maybe it’s just me, or maybe it’s that purposefully vague book description; but I was STILL guessing after I had read much more than half of this story. I love a story that can ACTUALLY keep a reader confused, but also how an author can be so subtle with their hints is fairly desirable in any book. In that sense, I found the overall pace and lead up to the end, perfect.
WOOHOO for another badass female lead! Ahhh, I just love when a young woman isn’t afraid to speak her mind and get a little feisty. Charlie is the epitome of a tomboy, and has no qualms with telling unwanted people to get off her back. I found her relationship with Alex to be VERY interesting. As they had grown up together being best friends, their relationship shifted once those wonderful hormones started to shift; which ultimately resulted in them becoming distant in their freshmen year of high school. Throughout this read we see Alex acting very protective over Charlie, but we also see Charlie having a lot of conflicting feelings about how she feels about Alex. As soon as the reader starts to catch the drift that something might arise between these two characters…WHAM! Enter Peter, the “game changer”. Peter is ALSO another male character in this story that is constantly watching Charlie in order to protect her. He is the complete opposite of Alex, a complete “bad boy”. Now the ultimate tug-of-war for Charlie comes out, and these boys get serious about her fast. Obviously by this point, the reader will have an understanding that some S*** is about to go down since these boys have this SERIOUS need to basically stalk her around in case she trips and falls on a pebble. Basically what I’m saying is, you start to realize there MUST be something these guys know that Charlie doesn’t. Nobody needs that much saving, especially when you’re a woman who can take care of herself.
Honestly, these fantasy stories with the overpowering adolescent drama is starting to weigh on me a bit. It seems like every story now has a female lead who just can’t seem to decide which guy she likes. This story left me sitting there screaming “OH JUST PICK ONE ALREADY!” Apart from this annoying and ridiculous love story, the plot was just as basic as the romance was. It is just something we have all already seen before. But did I enjoy reading it, well yeah. I liked the book, but I can say it was really good. It went out of the road let's say, so many times. Whole book went on the couple fighting and getting back together, while there 1000 more problems that was about people's lives. But well I guess romantic problems were more important...
I didn't like her so much... Really she was with Peter, then she wasn't, when she wasn't she was throwing herself at Alex, and was considering should she date him after all, like he was an item who you can play with and throw away when you got tired.
I loved Peter I mean come on he is a bad boy. And I'm always voting for them, but something was missing there for me, and Alex, even though he was the good boy, he was so amazing!!! Like wow! And even though I didn't like Charlie's character I'm shipping them, cause he deserves what he wants.
And Jack wow, I was like I like you at first then I started to dislike him, cause he was just too much...
“Let me know when you are ready and I will show you what a girl you are,” he said and planted a wet one on my cheek.
I mean he was flirting with her, and wanting her knowing that his younger brother loved her. And he was ready to kill Alex even when Charlie choose him, if you love her you let her go, when she wants to.
And let's talk about that fight to the death for her hand. Alex was fighting for her against his brother, till the death, and yeah she valued it for a second, but forgot totally about it when Peter did the same...
“Don’t cry for me, love. My heart will always with you.”
...She went all like he was ready to die for me, he's it for me... I mean someone else was ready to die and kill his brother before Peter girl...
And also let's talk about paranormal part...
Liked it, but I think author should decide what she wants to get out of it first...

I liked the book, but I can say it was really good. It went out of the road let's say, so many times. Whole book went on the couple fighting and getting back together, while there 1000 more problems that was about people's lives. But well I guess romantic problems were more important...

**I received a copy of this book because I helped edit/proofread it**
Alright lovies, so I was approached by this author because one of the other authors I work with recommended me. I was on a bit of a time crunch with this book, but since I enjoyed the story I didn't mind the missed sleep, I just wanted to make sure I caught everything and helped it be amazing.
So this book starts off with an interesting prologue that leaves you guessing, especially since it dives into the mind of Charlie, who is still reeling from the loss of her father. Starting off you think she's gonna be your usual protagonist female who needs rescuing and a man (I personally hate how many books portray the women like that, especially when there is no need for her to be that way other than to make the men feel strong). Well, Charlie is far from being a damsel in distress and her sass with make you smile.
The guys in the book will keep you on your toes since up until the late middle of the book you will have no idea what they are, other than knowing they aren't human. The guys are polar opposites, but they both love Charlie and want to protect her. There is some interesting politics going on with the guys thay adds to the mystery of the book, but it's mainly how Charlie plays into those politics that will keep you on your toes.
The minor characters are people you need to remember, especially since for a while you are not sure who is friend and who is enemy. You will definitely end up with a new book boyfriend, but you will also feel your blood pressure rise since you'll probably want to physically hurt all of them. There is definitely your classic mean girl that I promise you will find yourself wishing she falls off a cliff, but Charlie handles her well.
The ending of this book is definitely a mail biter that will make you cry (I did) but also to end on a nice cliffy that will have you craving the next in the series.
I enjoyed this book and I definitely can't wait for the sequel to come out!
