I want to take on the world, but that arrogant bastard just wants to take me.
I’m no mob princess. But I should’ve been.
When my father, the head of the Barone Crime Family, refused to let me join his organization, I left and started my own gang. Now we’re at war, and I’m trying destroy everyone in my way.
But I need help from someone powerful if I’m going to win.
Young, tall, and handsome, Wyatt Carter is no normal politician. He’s a well-known former bad boy turned State Attorney General.
His perfectly tailored suits cover the tattoos that snake up his sexy muscular arms. I hate that I want to let those arms pin me up against a wall.
It’s supposed to be just business between us, except Wyatt wants more than I’m willing to give.
I have to let my guard down if he’s going to help me. But Wyatt doesn’t know where the line is -- and even if he did, he’d cross it.
I'll bow down to him, but first he has to lay the world at my feet.
Bow Down is action-packed, incredibly steamy, and features some dirty language. It’s only recommended for audiences 18+.
Bow Down is a standalone, full-length novel. No cliffhanger. Guaranteed HEA.
Looking for a book that is well-written, has excellent twists and turns, a strong, bad ass woman, a naughty former bad boy turned state Attorney General, the mafia, off the chart chemistry, suspense, a great story-line that keeps you turning the pages, oh, and some hot sex... then, Bow Down by B.B. Hamel is what you need.

This stunning conclusion ties up all the loose ends and brings closure to this thrilling series. This pulse pounding make you hungry for more page turner doesn't stop from first page to last page. I'll be on the look out for more from this author in the future.
This is the fifth and final story in the Barone Crime Family series. I DO NOT consider this to be a STAND-ALONE read. There are multiple reoccurring characters, consecutive timelines, and overarching themes. If not read in order, there are details that occurred previously that would be lost, as they cannot be adequately explained within another story.
— If you have not read any of the stories in this series, the following may contain spoilers, but hopefully only enough to adequately explain my opinions, questions, etc. about the story. —
— This is a dark-themed mafia series with all the violence you would expect from the genre. It is for adults only (18+ years old) and NSFW. I included a high-level list of potential trigger topics for the SERIES below. —
This is a fast paced read, despite the length. I ❤️❤️❤️ that more detail is given about the Spiders and we learn so much more about Louisa, but I still need more details on the characters, as well as their backgrounds.
This story also has a great sense of humor, which I ❤️❤️❤️, not only in this one, but the series as well. I think this is an obvious strength for B.B. Hamel. Returns back to the same style as earlier stories in the series with consensual degradation and praise during the intimate scenes, but without the aftercare, which is critical in this type of relationship dynamic.
There are a few areas that I kept hoping would be revealed before the end, but they never were. Imo this is the type of information that would elevate the story and fill in some of the background gaps for me. This includes the items notes on my previous reviews of this series and adds a couple more such as (potential spoilers ahead …):
— LOUISA: === Basic info such as age. ===Besides the misogynistic history between Louisa and Arturo, her father, why did she hate him so much? === Since she doesn’t have the skills to do it herself, who originally trained Louisa’s Spiders? We find out what she is doing now with Wyatt’s help, but what about when she first started?
— KASIA: The Spiders’ second in command. === What did Kasia do to earn Louisa’s trust? === How did she become so skilled?
— WYATT: Attorney General for the State of Illinois === Some of the same basic info such as age. === What made him so easily accept the political scene in Chicago (bribes, corruption)? === He met Ethan at Harvard, his ‘assistant’ that handles the investigations, protection, disposing of their enemies, and pretty much everything else Wyatt needs. How did this type of dynamic develop? How did they learn how to trust each other in this way (orders to kill, dispose of bodies, etc.)?
I mention the following for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow. There are grammatical errors such as: incorrect capitalization (job titles, honorifics, God, etc.) incorrect punctuation (missing comma, period and space), a few typos, incorrect word tense, incorrect word choice, and missing / extra inserted word. I didn’t highlight and make a note on all of the grammatical issues with punctuation, just the ones that bothered me the most tbh. I uploaded my notes to goodreads for anyone interested.
⛔️ SERIES contains references to, or scenes detailing, subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some, including, but not limited to: adult language; derogatory terms; mental health challenges with depression, anxiety, flashbacks, etc.; steamy adult intimate scenes with elements of BDSM (dominance, submission, restraints, spanking), with degradation and praise word play, no real aftercare though, etc.; violence throughout typical of the Italian mafia (Russian Bratva) genre such as kidnapping / abduction, murder, death, torture, theft, assault, attempted rape, rape, threats, fighting, human trafficking, mental, physical and sexual abuse of adults and children, prostitution, betrayal, drug use, drug manufacturing and selling, illegal gun sales, sabotage, child abandonment, etc.
Louisa Barone and Wyatt Carter meet at a charity event in Chicago. She is the daughter of Arturo Barone head of the Italian mafia in Chicago, he is the Attorney general of Illinois. They will end up working together to end her father's rule as the head of the Barone crime family, and his influence in Chicago. Fascinating, unique characters in a book where "traditional" gender roles have been reversed. Sex, love and betrayal make this a must read, impossible to put down, mafia romance with violence, suspense, and lots of interesting twists in the plot. Wow, a fantastic conclusion to this series, I loved it!
arc review For honest reviewSo Wyatt is a lawyer. Louisa is the daughter of a mob boss that she is swore to take down for good . Louisa is a strong, brave and knows what she wants women. This story is a great read and well worth the money and time to read.
Louisa finally showing her hand was a great way to end "The Barone Family" saga and Wyatt was a well needed addition. I wish there would have been more with regard to Lucas and the transition after Arturo was killed.
I love the Barone crime family!! Louisa, the Barone mafia princess, wants to destroy her father and his sex trafficking operations once and for all. She can do it with the Spiders, but needs help and finds Wyatt Carter, gorgeous, hot, filthy mouthed, youngest Attorney General of Illinois. He's tough, hard, alpha, and he wants Louisa as much as he wants her business proposition to take down her father. She never thought she would be distracted by a man and romance, but she was not prepared for Wyatt. Will they succeed against the Barone family?
I received this ARC book from the Author in exchange for my honest review.
W.....O......W!!!!!!! Where can I get me a Wyatt????
Wyatt - lawyer who may or may not be on the up and up (depending,) business man, built himself up from absolutely nothing and now is very power hungry. He spends his days looking for ways to increase his power. He is not after women, booze, parties, or anything like that....oh no! He is definately a power hungry bastard, through and through. So imagine his surprise when this beautiful woman peaks a HUGE interest from him....that is not like him at all....but this woman does it.....catches him off guard and aware of how much he will do to her and for her. However at what cost???? Is he willing to pay that cost?
Louisa - former mafia princess, leader of an elite group that is making good strides but needs something to make it better. She is at a dinner party smoozing and she hates it, it goes against everything she stands for. She is a good person even though daddy is the mafia bigwig, top guy. Oh yes, she "divorced" herself from that mafia and created her own mafia, only hers is for the rescuing of women in the human traffic circuit. She is caught off guard by Wyatt and that cocky arrogant smirky grin of his....but oh boy, her heart and soul are telling her one thing, and her mind is telling her a different thing. Which one will she listen to? Does she learn to let Wyatt in or not?
Wyatt and Louisa meet at a dinner party where both are hob-knobbing and rubbing elbows with people they really do not like, believe in and really want no part of, but it is good for business. Louisa is beginning to leave and Wyatt is just arriving, but they lock eyes, and there is something electric there. She knows very well who he is, after all she does her research.....He doesn't know her but man is he intrigued by this beauty. They leave to go to the balcony on top of the building, things begin to get heated but Ethan (Wyatt's right hand man) interrupts....uh-oh. Both are left hungry for more, much more.
Little by little they start to learn about each other and start working together, that means betrayal from Wyatt to Louisa's dad. It means putting lives on the line and finding out there have been set ups. In one such raid it becomes painfully clear Wyatt is in deep with Louisa's dad, and most likely rolled over on Louisa and her mafia. The heated argument takes place, things are said, neither party will back down. There is a bigger surprising twist that stems from that argument.....is it a good surprise? Bad surprise? I will not tell any more of this book to you because that isn't fair to you, you need to read all the events that lead from one event to the other.....you will not regret reading this book!!!
BB Hamel killed this book. This is my favorite of the 5 books. I truly hate to see the end of the Barone Crime family. I have really gotten attached to them. “Bow Down” has all the elements you need to enjoy this book. It has murder, deceit, betrayal, dishonest politicians and policemen, handsome and powerful State Attorney General, lust, mob boss, and fabulous panty melting sex!!!!! BB made sure there was no way you would be able to put this book down. Book is recommended for mature readers 18 and up because of the language and sex scenes.
Louisa Barone became fed up with her dad’s treatment of her. She wanted to be part of his organization and he wouldn’t let her because he said it was no place for a woman. So when he and his men thought she was just milling around on her computers she was actually learning and waiting for her time. She finally starts her own gang and leaves her dad. They are taking down his house that deal in human trafficking. She wanted to run Chicago her way and she needed the help of someone powerful in her corner. That is when she sets her eyes on the sexy, handsome and powerful State Attorney General, Wyatt Carter.
Wyatt Carter is handsome, covered in tattoos, and happens to be the youngest Attorney General in history, but is known for being a bad boy once. He has a goal of cleaning up Chicago and eventually running it. Once he sets eyes on Louisa at a fund raiser he decides he has to have her, but he wants more than she is willing to give him. The one thing that is between the two of them is Arturo Barone, head of the Barone Crime Family. Wyatt does him favors from time to time. Wyatt doesn’t know at first that he is Louisa’s dad. Will Wyatt be able to convince Louisa that he is on her side? Or will the deceit get the better of the two of them? Will Wyatt turn on Arturo or Louisa?
No Spoilers. ARC free book given in exchange for an honest review.
Finally I got my hands on this book and let me tell you, it was everything I wanted it to be and more. This is the 5th and final book in the Barone Crime Family series and yes, it's Louisa's book.
Louisa Barone is one tough woman. When her father dismissed her wishes to join the family business, she takes to computers. She uses them to know everything and then breaks away from her father when she decides to fight him on his human trafficking. She is the leader of a group of women called the Spiders. Louisa is determined to get rid of her father and control Chicago the way she wants. Louisa also knows that with her father being the Mafia boss, she was going to need someone powerful in her corner. She had her eye on Wyatt Carter and a business proposal also.
Wyatt Carter is a handsome man with tattoos. He handles dirty deals with cops, politicians and other unsavory people. He is also the youngest Attorney General in history. Wyatt has dreams of cleaning up Chicago and then ruling it. While at a fundraiser, he sees Louisa and instantly knows he has to have her. When she finally tells him her business proposal, he wants more then to just be business partners. He wants her by his side, ruling Chicago together. Unfortunately, Arturo Barone is in the way. Wyatt has done him some favors before and now he finds out that he woman he wants is his daughter and she wants to destroy him.
I have been anxiously waiting for Louisa's book. While reading about her in other books, I was worried that she would be strange. I'm pleased to say that I didn't feel that way while actually reading her book. She was hella tough and I was so excited for her to get a man that match her. I can now tell you what was my favorite part of this book... Wyatt Carter. OMG I absolutely loved him and now I would like to find my own :) This was a perfect ending to this series.
Bow Down is a well written mob book with a sweet romance that ends the Barone Crime Family series nicely.
Bow Down is the final book in the Barone Crime Family series but this definitely surprised me with the direction it went. It was surprisingly more of a sweet romance intertwined with the whole mob crime romance of the series which isn’t bad but just unexpected. One thing I will say is despite this being the final book in the series it can be read as a standalone; it helps to have read the previous books but if you haven’t, you can still follow as things are explained enough.
Louisa and Wyatt have a sweet connection that develops quickly and deepens the more the book evolves. The situations that bring them together worked well and it’s interesting to see how Wyatt fits into the whole mob theme and the Spiders going after Arturo Barone and his mob. The dual perspectives added to the development of both characters, especially Louisa who has been such a vital part to this series but has always remained fairly anonymous.
Bow Down is well written and incorporates both a mob book with a sweet romance that develops as a result. There is some graphic descriptions of both explicit sexual content and the action that takes place by the gangs, especially a surprising twist at the end I did not see coming. Eventually, we finally get a HEA that nicely ends the series and Louisa’s story, even bringing in an old familiar face to round off the series.
Overall, if you enjoy a good mob romance, I would recommend this book and series.
*I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.
This was an excellent story and it totally enthralled me from start to finish; it just mesmerized me completely. Louisa wants to be respected and to earn her place in the world, but she is at war with her father, Arturo, who thinks he can destroy her, but he is wrong; she has tried to give him a peaceful way out, but his refusal means she has no alternative but to defeat him, but for that to happen she needs powerful friends. Never did Louisa imagine she could meet a man who would be her equal, but that is exactly who she finds when she meets Wyatt, the State Attorney General, and offers him a business proposition; his connections and influence, for her strength and money. Louisa has put Wyatt in an awkward position, but he admires her beauty and her strength; he is not used to strong women and Louisa is certainly going to be a challenge. Wyatt on the other hand has a dangerous streak to him, not quite what Louisa expects and this fascinates her, but she cannot let herself be infatuated with him; there is too much at stake. Wyatt had built up everything he had from the ground up just like Louisa had, that is what attracts her to him so intensely. Wyatt has an important connection to Arturo, but he will not betray Louisa; he has to work to make Arturo think he is on his side, and so hatches a plan, knowing that playing both sides would be difficult. The Barones were causing Wyatt a lot of problems, and for very different reasons, but this was not the time to show weakness or his plan would fail and Chicago would never be at peace. There were so many twists and turns to this book and it was a totally engaging read, which I would have no hesitation in recommending. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Yes! We got a taste of mafia princess in the last book, and a great story in Bow Down. Louisa Barone has gone against her father and all he stands for by starting her own little mafia known as the Spiders. Their main goal is to stop human trafficking. Once she found out that this was on of Arturo Barone's many business ventures, she has done everything in her power to make him stop. He rejected peaceful negotiations, so now the two Barones are at war. Louisa is looking to legitimize her group, and to do so, she needs rich and powerful allies. Enter State Attorney Wyatt Carter.
Wyatt has everything Louisa is looking for--money, connections, and power. The only thing is, she had no idea how much the man would get to her. As a woman hell bent on stopping human trafficking and not living under any man's rules, there is something about Wyatt that calls to her on a primal level.
Both Louisa and Wyatt want to make Chicago great again, but they are going about it in two entirely different ways. Will these two be able to work together when one works above board while the other is underground? The chemistry between the two is just what you expect from Ms. Hamel--scorching hot and intense! Tons of steamy encounters that will have you rapidly turning the pages!! If you like sex mixed in with your action and adventure, you're going to love this book!!
**I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review**
BB Hamel has done it again by writing a fascinating, intriguing and captivating book and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The story covers Louisa Barone who is fed up with her father's law "women have no place in his organization" well she was learning on the computers what was going on and would take him down. Wyatt Carter is the youngest State Attorney General in history and is cleaning up Chicago. He notices Louisa at a fundraiser and wants her, far more than she is willing to give. What you will find in this story is drama, suspense, intrigue, action, a devious defiant woman, a powerful State Attorney General, mafia, making a new mafia family (The Spiders), abduction, drugs, guns, sex trade trafficking, rescuing women, discovering who and what she is, supplying guns and money, policemen on the take, dirty politicians, betrayal, deceit, murder, hit-men, violence, justice, lust, emotional feeling and erotic scenes. . The story-line and plot is well thought out and is exceptionally well written. The characters are well developed with personalities and have feelings of revenge, needs and desires. I would recommend this book to people that like to read a a exceptionally well written Bad Boy Mafia Romance. You will not be disappointed.
If you read author B.B. Hamel's “Packing Heat” you might have noticed a few unanswered questions. Not that it was a cliffhanger or incomplete ... the happy couple speed away to a good life. No, what I meant was what happened to the mob daughter and her Spiders after the couple made their exit
Bow Down answers that in a intriguingly spicy manner. Louisa Barone has been denied her rightful place in the Barone Crime Family. Well ... she is after all a girl, but she soon shows her father just what a girl can do. But she want's more and just the person who can help her is Wyatt Carter, the State Attorney General who has a notorious past of his own. But this secretly tattooed sexy man wants something in exchange for his help. He wants Louisa ... in every way he can and then some.
I loved that Louisa thought she had it all figured out, but Wyatt was filled with a number of surprises. These two know how to go after what they want and everyone just has to get out of the way. If you are looking for a naughty bit of reading then B.B. Hamel and her mafia books and especially BOW DOWN is just what you want to get your hands on.
I received the ARC from the author for an honest review
I loved the conclusion to the Barone Crime Family! Louisa is the daughter of Arturo Barone, the head of the Barone mob, but she doesn't share her fathers' same ideals. When she wanted to join her father he laughed at her so she started her own, and when the human trafficking was brought to her attention she decided to do something about it. Louisa started the Spiders, with the goal of taking her father down and stopping the human trafficking and with her girls they have done pretty well. Louisa knows they need more help though and when she meets Wyatt Carter she makes him a business offer, what she wasn't expecting was the attraction they would feel for each other. Wyatt makes a perfect ally for Louisa, but also a great man to have by her side because her strength doesn't scare him off. Wyatt wants to make Chicago a better city and with Louisa by his side they have the chance to take control, but they know they have to get rid of Arturo first. I have loved this whole series and Louisa's story was perfect. I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I was given a copy for a honest review . Bow Down is by far my most favorite book in these Barone Crime Family . I absolutely love it and while I was waiting so long for Lou's story , well here it is ! Finally we get to know Louisa Barone's incredible exciting story with Wyatt Carter, former bad boy , who isn 't a normal politician but a true State Attorney General. They're both craving just one thing ; POWER , so they can control everything ; that's something they surely can give each other if they work together . Ofcourse , with a dirty mouthed former bad boy the chemistry between the two is smoking hot and the suspense ,excitement , action ,lots of twists and turns, murder and lots of steamy sex ; all the ingredients that keeps you on the edge till the last page is turned are all present in Bow Down . Sad to see these Barone Crime Family end , but honestly BB Hamel has done it again and delivered a amazing fabulous story with Bow Down . Great job BB , already looking forward to see what you have in store for us next ..
This is the story that I have been wanting from the very beginning. I could not wait patiently enough for this author to write it. It was amazing and just what I wanted, completely satisfied. Lousia is the “princess” of the Barone Crime family and she has been in most of the previous stories. I loved her cameos and wanted to know her story. She is the strong women behind many of the positive aspects of the family; she has a way with computers and technology and is indispensable to the mafia; if only her father would recognize that. Needing to feel wanted she created her own “crew” the Spider and this is where she meets Wyatt. This is the AG for her state and their attraction is immediate and hot! I loved this could be best as they felt like they were made for each other and I loved the dialogue between them. Both were head strong and bold and both needed each other to soften their edges. The best for last? Cannot make the decision but if not it is extremely close. This is the perfect ending to this wonderful series.
I couldn't wait to read Louisa's story and add in sexy State General Attorney Wyatt Carter, I couldn't put my kindle down. Louisa wants to take down her father and knows she needs help and that's when she sees Wyatt Carter, former bad boy turned State General Attorney. Once they meet Wyatt had to have her but Louisa wanted to talk business. Louisa never thought she could feel what she does for any man but being around Wyatt she can't stay away. With wanting the same thing they work together to bring down Arturo. But when a mission goes wrong Louisa feels betrayed. Wyatt must run but when his life is in danger he only thinks of Louisa and knows he must go back to claim what he always knew he needed. With a plan can they finally bring down Arturo? Love this series and characters, every time I read the Barone family series I can never put it down
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review
Louisa is the mob's boss' daughter who wanted nothing of her father. If anything, she's working against her father saving girls that he's trafficked over and busting his drug deals. Her father is powerful and to take him down, she needs to engage help and help is none other than the State Attorney General, Wyatt Carter.
Wyatt was a former bad boy. He worked hard to the position he's in. Louisa's proposition might be the ticket to him becoming more powerful even though he couldn't deny his other motive; that is having Louisa.
This book is action packed and filled with twists and turns. I was enthralled right from the beginning. I've not read any of the Barone Crime series so you can definitely read this as a standalone. I wouldn't say Wyatt is all good but he has a conscience. 2 different people coming together for 1 cause... I'll read this in a heartbeat.
ARC provided by the author in exchange for a honest review.
Bow Down: A Bad Boy Mafia Romance is part 5 and final book in The Barone Crime Family Series by BB Hamel. I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. This book is full of action, danger, murder, suspense, betrayal, some twist, lots of dirty language, a sexy power couple, some delightful characters and a steamy romance. Bow Down is a standalone, full-length novel. No cliffhanger and with a great HEA! This's the story of Wyatt Carter a politician, long-ago bad boy and now a State Attorney General & Louisa Barone a strong woman and daughter of Mob boss Arturo Barone of the Barone Crime Family in Chicago. Louisa doesn't share her fathers' same ideals so she started a team called the Spiders, their goal is taking her father down and stopping the human trafficking. Wyatt wants to make Chicago a better city. So , Can they fight side by side to accomplish the same goal? No Spoilers! Buy the book! I HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
I received an ARC from the author for an honest review. This is the fifth book in the Barone Crime Family and I am sad that it is the conclusion, as I enjoyed all of these books. This story is about Louisa, who is the beautiful daughter of the head of the family. When she asked to join the family business previously, her father had laughed at her. She went on to form the Spiders, who are a group of women who want to take down her father’s mafia organisation. Enter Wyatt Carter, the bad-boy state attorney general. When he is offered a business proposition from Louisa, they find that the chemistry between them is steaming! I recommend reading this book to all, and this author has done a fantastic job in writing the storyline for this series. Cannot wait to read what she brings to us next. Well done as always on an amazing novel!!
