Heather Dahlgren writes Contemporary Romance, sprinkling each book with a bit of humor, a lot of naughty and true love. She self-published her first book in 2014 and continues to do so today. Her over active mind promises the stories are in no short supply.
Heather grew up and still resides at the Jersey shore. She loves being so close to the Atlantic Ocean and the Pine Barrens. She is surrounded by the best of both worlds.
She is married to her high school sweetheart and has three kids. There is nothing more important in the world to her then her family.
When Heather isn’t writing you can find her getting lost in a great book, spending time with family and helping her fellow authors.
I'll start by saying I don't normally read books about rock stars, not my cup of tea, but I was so pleased I gave this book a go as I was blown away! I loved Fitz, he was so unexpected. Yes he was cocky and arrogant but when he was with Brooklyn he was so vulnerable and tried so hard to be the man she needed. There were times I wanted to hug Fitz and tell him to hang on as the wait would be worth it. The chemistry between Fitz and Brooklyn nearly melted my kindle! The rest of the band were just as amazing as Fitz and provide some light moments. The story draws you in and spits you out at the end leaving you with one hell of a book hangover and a new book boyfriend!

Heather Dahlgren is fast becoming a go to author for me. If you love Rock Star books this is a must read. Crosby Fitzgerald is better known as Fitz lead singer with the band Renegade, he lives life to the fullest not ready to settle down, but there is another side to this singer and it takes the quiet shy friend of the bands manager to bring out the real Crosby Fitzgerald. Brooklyn Adler has the life she always thought was for her, a mundane job, a house and a boyfriend who just wants to watch the world go by , all in all a pretty boring life, so when her best friend Poppy (manager of Renegade) sends her flight and concert tickets she decides it's time to live a bit. Fitz and Brooklyn are perfect for each other and the chemistry is sizzling hot but I do have to say there are some heartbreaking moments and at times I wanted to scream at Brooklyn. The rest of the characters in this book all contribute to a great read and I hope we get more from the rest of the band. This book was written beautifully and it was read in one sitting. I loved it I received this book for an honest review
Have you ever read a book and knew from the beginning that the character was going to be your next book crush? Well in Renegade by Heather Dahlgren I knew that Fitz was going to be that character. I love him from the moment he met Brooklyn to the moment she was finally his he did nothing but protect her, stand up for her and be whatever she needed him to be even if it broke his heart. Just let me tell you there are quite a few heartbreaking moments for Fitz where you just want to reach into the book and shake Brooklyn and be like what are you thinking. Besides for Brooklyn and Fitz you have a great group of characters that surround them from the comedic relief of Ethan, to the best friends Poppy and Nate this book was really just truly written well that you are just reading along and before you know it you are done and you are wondering where your day went.
This was such a good story and I read it in one sitting! This was Heather's first rock star book and I say she hit it out of the ball park! It is the love story of the lead singer, Fitz, a strong and very confident man and Brooklyn, a shy introverted woman with almost no self esteem. When they meet, thanks to Poppy, Brooklyn's best friend from highschool, both of them feel an electric jolt like never before. Fitz has always been the bachelor who is into one night stands and certainly isn't looking for love. Brooklyn lives with her boyfriend, a very dull man who needs a set schedule...even for when to have sex! The week Brooklyn visits in New York is the week that changes her life. Fitz makes sure of that!
So, this is the first book I've read from Heather Dahlgren and I must admit that I am already eager to read more of her novels. She brings to life the story of a shy girl who hasn't found herself until she meets a rock star who was losing himself.
Fitz is the lead singer of a famous rock band based in New York City. Brooklyn is the shy best friend of Poppy, the band's manager and one of their dearest friends. She lives in California doing the same thing day in and day out. Fitz and Brooklyn are both on self destructive paths without fully realizing it. Poppy flies Brooklyn out to NYC and the minute Fitz sees her, he wants her. Brooklyn maintains her stance as having a boyfriend but is swooning over Fitz. He shows her, Poppy, and the rest of his childhood friend who make up the band another side of him as his friendship with Brooklyn grows. Fitz is not ready for Brooklyn to go back to California and he tries to stop her but she goes. What will happen when she does?
I was thoroughly enchanted with this book. Brooklyn was someone that I could relate to and I am positive that did not bias my opinion of the overall storyline. Mrs. Dahlgren has a witty way of bringing out the best of the characters with their playful bantering and subtle (sometimes not so subtle) flirting.
Some of my favorite lines or passages are:
"Brooklyn, you need to get rid of that forest," she says, starting to really laugh now.
"I don't know what it is. It's nothing and it's everything," I say in all honesty.
It's eerily peaceful being up this high, almost like flying while standing still."
The city is alive, with the amount of people rushing about. The buildings are so tall they block out the sun's rays making it appear darker in some places than it really is. The different buildings, some old, some new, some brick, some seem to have all windows, is just stunning. I turn my attention back to Poppy and smile. "It's so beautiful here. Crazy busy, but it's really amazing. I can't wait to explore. {This passage made me want to go visit NYC sooner than later}
Oh my hot dirty mouth rocker God!!!!!!!! Talk about a rocker getting your panties all wet. Wow Heather definitely hit the mark with this guy. I loved this story, I mean what's not to love about Rockstars. Especially when they have a dirty mouth. I am going to have to say I was not crazy about Brooklyn. I actually really love Poppy , I Adore the secondary characters. And I'm hoping Poppy gets her story. Okay back to the Cocky dirty mouth rock God. Lol ahhh he's hot ladies that's all I can say. His mouth is my favorite part of the book lol
OMFG!! I loved this book so much!!!! I couldn't put it down!!! I wanted to keep reading and find out what happened next!! I loved their story so much, and the storyline!! Brooklyn and Fitz meet when their mutual friend Poppy invites Brooklyn out to NY for a week. Brooklyn is a boring, planned out, bank manager. She's dating a dud Hank LOL! Then Fitz happens! Fitz is a party boy, rockstar, and sleeps with any girl that comes along. Then in walks Brooklyn. His whole world stops. One problem......she's with Hank. Brooklyn spends the time with the band, and Poppy, and learns so much about herself, and about life! Twists and turns happen, and oh boy do they make the book, and the story!! Again, I didn't want it to end!! And let me tell you, the sexy scenes were HOT HOT HOT!!!
My fave quotes from the book: 1. "Good idea. We'll try again next week." - Oh man I hated Hank so much!!!! What a snoozefest he is!! 2. "Brooklyn, I'd wait forever for you." - SWOON MOMENT FITZ!!! 3. I'll never let her go now, she is mine. - YES FITZ!! Claim her as your own!! 4. "Thankfully, she agreed because the minute she smiled at me, my heart stopped and my world turned upside down." - Fitz knew he was meant to be with Brooklyn, and wanted her from the first time they had met.
This book is super steamy, close to melt your kindle level. I liked Fitz, but only gave three stars because Brooklyn was just to much of a meek, weak, constantly crying, little mouse. I'm glad she didn't cheat on her boyfriend, that goes to character. Book was at 80% before she truly starting coming into her own. I can't stand weak female characters. one other thing is we were told and not shown a lot of things in the book. Example, she hung out with the guys one time and after like she had never left the farm or been on a social situation, refused to make eye contact, have a drink, kept going to bathroom to cry, yet at end of week for her goodbye dinner the guy small acted like she was a long lost friend that they'd had a blast with, really connected with, thought she was wonderful and were all going to miss her. It was weird. Other than being beautiful, there is no reason the H should have been interested. Standalone, HEA, dual POV, super steamy, language.
Enjoyed this more than I expected. Since it's a story about the band Renegade, do expect the 'rock and roll' lifestyle of booze and groupies. Fitz is definitely no angel and he goes from one groupie to the next until he meets Brooklyn, and he really takes stock of what he wants. I loved that Fitz is so different with Brooklyn, that he's patient, understanding, protective and so sweet, it's like a 180 from his usual behaviour with the groupies/girls. I didn't care too much for Brooklyn at the start, finding her to be too much of a doormat but she does come out of her shell and actually starts living. Their romance had a bit of a sizzling slowburn at the start but once both were all in, it was just wow with the steam and the emotions. The epilogue was just too sweet and was a perfect HEA ending.
My first book by this author and it was pretty book. It was really interesting. Great story out line, sexy, funny, sad in parts, but everything worked out the way I thought it should. Brooklyn lead a very boring life and her boyfriend was worse. It took one week for her to realize her boyfriend was no fun at all and she needed a change. I am glad she finally got the chance to see some part of the world and kicked her dumb lady ass boyfriend out. Live with Fitz was so much more for her. And she was treated a whole lot better too. It was a hot 🔥🔥🔥🔥read once you got started and then you couldn’t put it now. Loved it ❤️
The MMC is makes you fall in love with him almost immediately. He is sweet and kind, respects her physical boundaries and works hard to make her happy. The FMC is kinda annoying and whinny. I get change is tough but we are told on every single page she does no like change. She likes a routine. I stopped reading half way through because it was a sweet story at that point. I felt the only thing that could have happened was drama for drama's sake.
It's a must read. If you love rock star romance this book is for you. Fitz is the perfect rock star and swoon worthy. Brooklyn is the perfect girl for him. I can wait for the next book.
Wow. Nothing is better to read than a rocker on his knees for a woman he fell for. Fitz is a swoony lead singer of a rock band and boy does he make a girl swoon. This hot as fire story is every thing a rockstar romance needs to be a 10.
The writing style wasn’t for me. It was overdramatized. So many times the characters would be having a conversation and what they said just seemed so odd, regular people don’t talk like that and the fmc cries soooo much. At least the smut is top notch
Since rock romance is my thing, I eat these books up like starvin’ girl at an all you can eat buffet.
Finally, I received got my hands on Renegade, and thought, I’ll start this tonight—tonight being around 2am—and finish it tomorrow. Fast forward to 8am, I sat with red-rimmed eyes as my whole house woke up refreshed, and I was frozen in a Fitz-hangover. Let’s make that a hashtag, shall we? #fitzhangover. It’s a real thing, and it’s brutal.
I have a new book boyfriend, and Fitz be thy name. Holy guitar strings, Dahlgren sank her hooks in me from Chapter One and I flipped those pretend electronic pages until I was all but licking the screen at the end. If you’re looking for a new rock star to electrify your world, look no further than Crosby Fitzgerald.
Dahlgren flawlessly tells the story in a fast-paced dual POV, starting with the perspective of Brooklyn Adler, a self-conscious, mundane woman who lives for routine and complacency. *yawn* But, don’t feel sorry for her. She’s okay with her humdrum life as a bank manager and doesn’t mind going home to her wet noodle of a boyfriend, Hank. Her life is safe, and that’s just the way she’s always envisioned it.
Until she gets a call from childhood friend, Poppy. Poppy is the outgoing manager for the insanely popular band, Renegade, and she wants Brooklyn to come to New York to visit her for the week. After multiple rejections from her friend, Poppy refuses to take no for an answer and Brooklyn finds herself Big Apple bound.
Fitz is the lead singer of Renegade and a dirty dog of a womanizer. Yet, underneath he is a good guy. He’s the male version of the proverbial “hooker with a heart of gold.” Only it takes a chance meeting with Brooklyn to bring out that side of him. Sparks fly during their initial meeting and from that moment on, Fitz knows, no woman will ever compare to the petite, shy brunette who has captivated him. Brooklyn falls for Fitz as well. There’s only one problem. Brooklyn has a boyfriend and a life she’s returning to at the end of the week.
Dahlgren is masterful at creating tension and the push and pull effect of the “will they or won’t they” excitement. The reader feels deeply for both characters, understanding their reluctance to commit, yet hoping beyond reason that they give into what they (and everyone reading) wants. The build-up to the big moment is monumental. And when it does happen, (wipes drool off of chin) it’s one to go back and re-read about seventeen times. Not that I did that. (I totally did that.)
Dahlgren’s knowledge of the music industry is on point, and the reader feels like they are at a Renegade concert. The story is fast-paced, the characters all have their own personalities and the dialogue is poignant, hysterical, hot and swoon-worthy all at the same time. Fair warning, Renegade has some pretty intense sex scenes, so if you are easily offended, well, you’ve been warned.
Basically, Renegade is everything anyone could ever want in a rock star romance novel. If you haven’t bought it—what are you waiting for? Run, do not walk and download now! And after your #Fitzhangover, just take two aspirin. But don’t call Fitz in the morning. He’s otherwise occupied.
Although slow in the first chapter you truly fall in love with Brooklyn and fitz you feel the awkwardness and how she truly doesn't understand why anyone would pay attention to her you feel his shock at finding happiness at a smile you connect with the characters feel part of them and don't want the book to end so worth the read and you will have a smile but feel sad when the book ends and its time to get back to real life
Brooklyn Adler lives a boring life in California. Her friend Poppy invites her to New York for a week to hang with her and Renegade, the rock band she manages. Fresh out of her comfort zone, she meets Fitz. Except who she sees is Crosby Fitzgerald. Can they overcome the obstacles and find their happily ever after? Loved this rocker love story!
I would like to sum up this review in one word FITZ - OMG this guy is seriously hot. Ok so he is the lead singer in Renegade and he and his band members are everything bad boy rockstars should be, hard drinking, hard partying, hard..........well you get the idea, all except Bass Player Nate, he is committed to Poppy the band's outrageous, no holds barred Manager and lets face it - with this group she does need to stay on top of things. Now for Brook (lyn) here is Poppy's BFF from school days who lives clear across the country and is the POLAR opposite of Poppy. Brook and Poppy do the long distance friendship thing and what Poppy truly hates about Brook not being around,is her so called boyfriend Hank - OK this is where we get into 4 star territory - This guy has absolutely NO redeeming qualities. Brook & Hank live together for about a year and WHY?? Everything they do & I mean everything is by schedule and if Brook veers off by the tinest bit - well Hank just cancels whatever they were going to do. So after a phone call from Brook Poppy insists she gets her ass on a plane and goes to New York where the band resides after finishing their current tour, needless to say Brook (lyn) does not want to go but finally says screw it and gets on the plane thinking her and Poppy are going to have real BFF time, ah no. Poppy is going to give her a mini makeover ( the bathroom scene between these 2 is a laugh riot) and shove her in the direction of super stud Fitz and let me tell you, it works - Brooklyn is her name and although Hank refused to call her that, Fitz makes no bones about using her real name. He is so smitten that even when she "friend zones" him - he takes her on a non date that most of us would have died for. Ok more reasons why I didn't give this 5 stars, Brooklyn's constant habit of lip biting started to drive me nuts - it occurs almost on every page she is involved in and even though Fitz loved it - me not so much. The other reason is towards the end of the book, Brooklyn does something that Poppy never knew about - which I kinda thought was strange being they are bff's and all. Lastly it does not appear this is a series and not getting more of Ethen is kinda of a downer, he really puts the Bad in Bad boy rocker.
It is no lie that I love rock stars. And this book is all about the rock stars of the band Renegade. Fitz is the talented, womanizing, and gorgeous lead singer. Fitz meets Brooklyn who is the best friends with the band's manager. Fitz leads the lifestyle that we all are so envious of when it comes to reading about rock stars. Brooklyn, on the other hand, is leading the life that 98% of us lead in comparison. When Fitz and Brooklyn meet while she is visiting New York, sparks fly. There is just one little problem. Brooklyn has a boyfriend, Hank. And while he isn't Fitz, Hank is what Brooklyn has settled for. Fitz takes a huge leap of faith and this novel tells the story of the fallout.
This novel is hot. You cannot read it a work or when this kids are around. This is one you have to read privately. I am not trying to imply that the entire book is sex, sex and more sex. It actually isn't but when it happens, hold on! What I enjoyed most about this book is that the author did not shy away from the details of each characters life when they weren't together. This gives the reader ample time to get to know the character and their intentions. Books and the characters inside of them are so much more than love stories.
It is the writers duty to introduce to the characters and make us understand them, believe them and want to be part of them. Ms. Dahlgren does it. She makes the reader feel like the characters are real and the feelings are real. This novel is well written and I can't wait to get my hands on more by her!
Brooklyn Adler has what she believes is the perfect life that she planned, with job, house, and boyfriend all checked off. She's told herself that a routine life is ok, but lately, she finds herself questioning everything. When her best friend offers her a trip to come and visit, Brooklyn decides to go for it, even though her bestie is the manager of a wild rock band. Crosby "Fitz" Fitzgerald is the lead singer of the famous rock band, Renegade, and living a life he never planned on. He lives for excitement, and is always spontaneous. Fitz meets Brooklyn, and knows they're complete opposites, but they have a strong connection anyway, and life will never be the same. Will Fitz be able to show Brooklyn that living life to the fullest is the best way to go?
WOW! I loved this story so much that I devoured it in one sitting. The character development is great, with a hilarious cast of secondaries. Flammable chemistry tried to melt my kindle, and finally ignites into fiery flames of panty meltin' sexy scene goodness. Heather Dahlgren's talented writing style made it impossible to put this book down for any reason, and I didn't want it to ever end. Her witty dialogue had me laughing until my sides hurt, and there were some emotional moments that had me a bit sad, but thank goodness this wasn't a cliff hanger book. I really want the author to write all the band members a story, as they were ALL AWESOME! So I cannot HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND Renegade enough!
This is my first book by this author. I thought this was a wonderful read, we get POV from both two main characters and we even get a little excerpt at the end of the story by Brooklyn's friend Poppy who created great humorous moments throughout this romantic journey.
I have not been a great fan of rockstar romance but Renegade has changed that for me.
My favourite part of this story was simply following Brooklyn's growth as a woman and finding her place in life and finally following her dream. I loved how Fitz helped Brooklyn to realise her full potential as a strong and sensual woman. I understood and respected Brooklyn for how she dealt with Hank, she kept true to her beliefs and she just did not jump into bed with Fitz.
I thought when she left New York and then the story jumps a month, it was perfect, I as a reader wondered what had happened, we get flashbacks and I simply devoured them and they helped connected the two character back together for their reunion.
The physical and emotional connection between Fitz and Brooklyn was perfect and the romance sexual scenes where just right.
The other favourite part for me was the whole inner family that was Renegade, how the guys and girls were more family than friends - it was great.
first time reading a book by this author. I enjoyed the story very much. bad boy rockstar and timid bank manager who wants more out of life and she doesn't know it. until she goes to new truck to see her friend poppy and meets Renegade more specifically Fitz, lead singer of renegade. he is instantly hooked, she never heard their music, she is shy, hates change yet her smile and laugh do him in aside from her being beautiful. she fights her attraction room to him because she has a boyfriend back in California who hates change, puts her down and never compliments her. even though she feels everything with Fitz she turns him down and goes home only to dump Hank. poppy sends her a ticket for the Cali show and Brooklyn goes and that is when it all changes. Fitz wants it all with her and she wants it with him. he is very sweet and attentive and sexy. they five each other what they didn't know they wanted, he wanted someone to love him for him and she wanted the same thing and someone who would bring out the best in her and make her realize what she really wanted out of life not what others thought she should do. well written and very sexy. great easy read
I am a HUGE sucker for rock star romance and I knew that I needed to read this!
Fitz is super swoon worthy and everything that a super sexy rocker that is ready to settle down should be! He was funny, kind, protective and super sweet.
Brooklyn is the super set in her ways and leads a very "vanilla" life. She works at a bank and has a live-in boyfriend that does everything on a schedule (all I kept thinking was that he was like Sheldon from Big Bang Theory.. lol). She takes off for a week long vacation to visit her BFF that she hasn't seen in years and thats where it all starts.
This book was well written and I liked the concept but I felt that the end was a bit lack luster and hit a wall. I won't go into details because I don't want to spoil the book for anyone but the ending was a bit brief and a little corny for my taste. It was a HEA which I always like but the dramatic difference in Brooklyn from beginning to the end of the book was huge and a bit outlandish. Overall I liked the book but I wish the ending was a little better and more believable.
I won a free copy of this book in a giveaway and in return want to offer the author my honest review. WOW! If anyone out there loves a Rocker romance, hot as hell alpha man who talks dirty as hell, a shy beauty that is ready to bust out of her shell, other hot, horny Rockers, plenty of scorching hot sex(even a threesome or two) and a funny an beautiful romance, well then here is a book for ya'll! It's a great storyline and it flows really nicely, never stalling out and it never feels forced. Ms. Dahlgren does an amazing job with character development. Not only was I able to connect with the main characters, I feel like I was able to connect with each and ever character in the book. This is my very first read by this author but have definitely picked up a few more of her books after reading Renegade. I wouldn't mind reading about Ralph's story and I'd love to see what the future has in store for the manwhore Ethen! I can bet that story would melt the kindle's! Amazing story Ms. Dahlgren!
Why have I not read any books by Heather Dahlgren until now?!? This woman can write! And while this was my first book by her, I can't wait to go back and read some of her others.
Renegade was a definite 5 star read for me!
Fitz is my new book boyfriend! Can I have this sexy rocker for myself?! He has the whole arrogant and cocky rock star image down, but underneath it all he is really Crosby Fitzgerald who can be a total sweetheart. Brooklyn is one lucky woman. She captures the attention of Fitz from their first meeting. I love that Fitz perused her and the tension between these two kept building and building. They didn't just hop into bed with each other right off the bat. Fitz had to work for Brooklyn and I totally adored it.
Love rock stars like me? You must read this one! It's a must read on the rock star book list! Heck even if you don't love rock stars I still think you should read this one. I promise you will fall in love with all that is Crosby Fitzgerald!
This was my first read by Heather Dahlgren, and I don't think it will be my last!
Brooklyn is living a rather.... boring life, same routine everyday. When her bff Poppy calls her and invites her to NYC to hang with her and the band she manages... Brooklyn kinda jumps at the opportunity. When she gets there, and meets Fritz, the lead singer, Brooklyn realizes that just maybe, maybe, her life wasn't all she wanted it to be after all. But what happens when she is given the choice? Does she pick her nice safe routine or go for a different route?
I really liked this story. I did go looking for Poppy and Nate's book, I thought surely they had one... either I just can't find it or there isn't one... and IMO that was a story I would love to read. This has drama, some awesome sexy time, and a rock band... what more could you ask for. I give this 4.5 stars.
I love love a well-written rocker romance, and this fit that bill! The guys of Renegade were exactly as you would expect- manwhores who fall hard. And I loved it!
Brooklyn's life had been all about routines and, quite frankly, boring! When her friend Poppy, who manages the hot band Renegade, invites her to visit her in New York, she can't wait to get away. This is where she met Fitz, the hot lead singer.
I loved the plot, as well as the side characters. No big issues, but while the beginning was great with details, the end felt a bit rushed. And I didn't particularly enjoy Brooklyn's job prospect; that seemed a bit unbelievable to me.
Side note: This didn't impact my rating at all, but I have a peeve with mixing up those commonly confused words (then/than, effect/affect). There weren't a whole lot, but the middle of the story had some that bothered me.
I will most certainly read more from this author!!
Brooklyn is leading a boring life. She is kind of shy also. She has a boring boyfriend named Hank. Her friend Poppy is the manager for a rock band. Brooklyn goes for a week to New York to visit her and realizes what a difference her life could be. She sees how boring her life really is. Fitz is the lead singer of the band. He is wild and crazy until he meets her. He shows her around New York but respects the fact that she has a boyfriend. She goes back to reality but can't stand it. Hank doesn't like the changes in her. The band plays a concert close by and she goes. She is hooked. Fitz and her get wild and crazy. They are so hot hot hot together. They work perfectly together. There are a few bumps on their road but they work it out. All the band members are so fun and wild. Love their interactions with her. This is a hot book with tons of fun in it. Love it. Another wild and crazy book by Heather.
I love Rockstar romances and Heather so delivered.
Brooklyn ' s life may not be full of parties, and excitement but it's planned and is going great.....well she keeps telling herself that. it's the life she wants and she's happy, or is she?
Fritz is living a life he never knew. Being in a rock band has its perks...Money, girls and wild nights , he never really thought he could have more til Brooklyn, she makes him want to be better and knowing she has a boyfriend back home makes it hard for him to hold back but out of respect he tries, can he ever get her to see they are perfect for each other. Brooklyn needed to vacation, spending time with her BFF is awesome but Fritz is something she never expected, he's fun and makes her feel things she's never felt before but her life is back home, it's planned but is it truly what she wants?I loved it. Great story and characters.
