When Senator Job Vickar is brutally murdered, his ghost turns to Felicity Bell and Alice Whitehouse to help him find the ones responsible and avenge his death. Before long, however, they find themselves embroiled in a conspiracy that reaches to the highest echelons of government, and very soon they discover that even the president himself may be involved…
Now fearing for their own lives, Felicity and Alice, along with their fiancés Rick Dawson and Reece Hudson, are in a race against time to uncover the faceless individuals behind this conspiracy, before it is too late.
Also starring in this story: 2 irascible billionaires (and the love of their lives), 1 hapless billionaire’s son, 1 sultry reality show star, 2 cute Pomeranian pups, 3 Pet Bandits, 1 grumpy NYPD Detective, 1 unconventional priest, 1 aged media mogul, 1 sharp-witted chief of staff and 1 president of the United States.
Nic has a background in political science and before being struck by the writing bug worked odd jobs around the world (including but not limited to massage therapist in Mexico, gardener in Italy, restaurant manager in India, and Berlitz teacher in Belgium).
When he’s not writing he enjoys curling up with a good (comic) book, watching British crime dramas, French comedies or Nancy Meyers movies, sampling pastry (apple cake!), pasta and chocolate (preferably the dark variety), twisting himself into a pretzel doing morning yoga, going for a run, and spoiling his big red tomcat Tommy.
He lives with his wife (and aforementioned cat) in a small village smack dab in the middle of absolutely nowhere and is probably writing his next ‘Mysteries of Max’ book right now.
This one goes a whole different direction with these wonderful characters. A Senator who wants politicians to only speak the truth does not set well with those running the country. Lots of twists, turns, and action.
As indicated by the rating, I thought this was just OK. I don´t have a problem with ghosts speaking to the investigators to help them solve their own murders, but these ghosts seemed indiscriminate in who they spoke to, and the solution was over the top. The story is supposed to be funny, but the characters were more silly than humorous to me. Perhaps if I had read others earlier in the series it would have appealed to me more.
I found this one to be hard to get into. I like it when the characters have more dealings with the ghosts. This story I found there were too many characters introduced and I had a really hard time following. I really love Nic Saint books but this was not one of my favourites. I received this book as an ARC from the author.
