Four Horsemen MC #8

Hell or High Water

Rate this book
Voodoo is comfortable being the solitary King of Hades Hotel and Diner and the newly minted VP of the Four Horsemen Motorcycle Club. An old lady just isn’t part of his equation. While he wants Lex—badly—a biker with a criminal past is the last thing she needs. He’d reached above his station before and been punished. Hurricane Katrina had washed away everything and everyone he cherished when the levees broke. He couldn’t forget the lesson he’d been taught any more than he could allow Lex to be part of the Underworld he serves. But when she needs him most, can he turn her away?

Lex’s parents were able to agree on exactly one thing after their divorce—that Lex should have no part of the Four Horsemen Motorcycle Club. But Captain’s blood runs through her veins and a part of her longs for the freedom the Outlaw MC life offers. When a campus tragedy sends her reeling, she escapes to Hell, Texas and the comfort of her friendship with Voo. But the darker side of her roots isn’t the only thing she’s determined to explore. It’ll take hell and high water to stop her from unleashing the storm that’s been brewing between her and Voodoo.

It was good until the morning after scene (no sex) that Voo (H) said that he thought the h was someone else. Coz Voo had a blonde ex-fiancee and he was kinda hung up on her for until 50-60% of the book. Not happy with this.

A fast paced, intense, romantic suspense that will capture your heart! With the unique storyline, interesting characters that you can't help but love, drama, angst, hilarious scenes that will have you laughing out loud, intense situations, and suspenseful twists, this story will grab you right from the start, and not let go till the end. A fantastic book that is definitely a MUST read!

Voodoo is the VP of the Four Horsemen MC, an amazing chef, a mystery to most everyone, and has fallen for Lex Cooper, even though he knows that she's off limits. Lex is the perpetual good girl, always doing the right thing, trying to please everyone else, and even though she's been told that she's not allowed to be with any of the Horsemen, she's in love with Voodoo.

When his dark past, and her present issues, start causing problems, will either of them be able to handle what comes next? Will Lex stop trying to please others and start living for herself? Will Voodoo be able to let go of his past and start living again? Or will others succeed in making sure that they never have a chance? Will either of them get the HEA that they deserve?

This is one of my most favorite MC series! Cynthia and Sara Rayne have created a fantastic series of unique stories, amazing characters, and will definitely keep you coming back for more. If you haven't read this series, I suggest that you start from the beginning. Not only will you get to read amazing stories, but you'll learn more about the dynamics of the MC and the brotherhood, about each couple, and everything else that happens in Hell.
I strongly recommend this book, series, and outstanding authors!

I can't get enough of the Four Horsemen. This book had a different feel than other books in the series but I loved it just as much as all the other installments. Unlike most of the Horsemen books this one focuses more on the couple, with less focus on the ins and outs of the Four Horsemen members aka club business. Don’t get me wrong, several of the Horsemen makes appearances but this is a story about two people drawn together while working through their own demons.

I had been waiting on Voo and Lex's story for a long time now. And the wait was definitely worth it. I knew Voo had some secrets but wow, didn’t see all that coming. Ha, I bet you thought I might spill the beans. Nope you’ll have to read it to find out. I really felt for Lex. I wanted to reach through my kindle and give her a big hug.

I kind of wish I read this book a little slower. I’m sad that it’s over but I’m looking forward to more books with all my favorite Horsemen and Dixie Mafia characters. I did see several couples in the works and I’ll be patiently waiting for their stories.

Pretty good story, but not my favorite in this series. More angsty and repetitive than I prefer, so that's why I didn't give it 4 stars. The age difference between the H and h (15 years) was also too much for my taste.

There's a lot happening in this longer story, but it seemed like the missing immediate aftermath of the accident that happens in the beginning, and other action stuff was rushed through more than it needed to be, and the emotional stuff, especially with Voo, was too much of the story. Tell me no more than twice... after that it becomes insulting.

I'm invested in this series, and have read all the books, so if there are more books, I'll be reading them.

The writing was good and typos were so few I didn't really notice any.

I don't know if you can I say I read the book, its more like I devoured it in record time. I just could not put it down. I was anxiously awaiting Lex and Voodoo's story and I was not disappointed, the only negative thing was that it ended to soon. I have been a fan of the series from the first book and I hope that there will be many more to come, I really like the Brotherhood and their Old Ladies. It had plenty of action, food, heartache and of course some steamy romance. You can enjoy the book without having read the previous ones, but its way more fun knowing who all the players are. Let the good time roll.

Another Awesome Horseman Read

Liked the twists and turns of the story. The ways different characters from other books made appearances. Also, different times throughout the book I could relate to. Eerie on that note. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves hot bikers, steamy love scenes, Louisiana, and everything that goes with that. Just one question......... Are we going to find out the name of Boone's Dad? I have a hunch. I have a hunch who Blue's Brother is, too. But, I could be wrong. Looking forward to another book ASAP.

I received Hell or High Water as an ARC in exchange for a honest review. The Horsemen.... what can I say.... the story of Voo and Lex was a rollercoaster and an amazing one at that. The things they both had to go threw to finally be together was heartbreaking and left me breathlessness at times. Another slam dunk from Ms. Rayne. Keep them coming and we will keep coming back!

What happened to Lexi in the beginning was pretty horrible and the response from the people around her at school. She was lost and vulnerable and in pain and her family had her back always. When she calls Voodoo, he comes for her basically saves from the bad at the school. When Lexi gets back home, her mother and stepfather are horrible to her and she leaves for Hell with Voo. When she gets to her dad Captain's and Eddie's, her dad kind of doesn't want her there either, he wants her back in school and away from the Horsemen MC. But after throwing herself at Voo and he rejects her, she flees to New Orleans to stay with her best friend Josie. I loved that we got to know about Voo's background what he went through in New Orleans and they meet up back there and truths come into light. I really liked Boone, he was funny as hell and a good friend to Voo. But the drama Lexi and Voo find themselves in is insane and their most unlikely savior was pretty funny. Overall it was good story of a man afraid of his past, and the woman who loved him despite the past. And of course the Horsemen has a big party at the end of the book.

I've loved this series and this was a great conclusion to the Voodoo and Lexi saga that has been building since the very first book of the series. I've read a ton of these biker romance series but this is really the best, with its fantastic cast of characters and amazing small town setting. The town of Hell becomes a silent character and it's hard to not want to live in a place like that.

The heroine of this story, Lexi, is strong-willed and very determined to be with Voodoo. Although, Lexi is the daughter of a past President of the MC and Voodoo is the current VP, the friendship and later the love clearly shown by them both is strong and relatable. Due to Voodoo's shady past in New Orleans, pre-Katrina, he doesn't believe that he deserves someone like Lexi, despite his true feelings and everyone around the two of the seeing the love they clearly have.

If you're a fan of MC romances, I ABSOLUTELY recommend this series!!

Voodoo

I couldn't wait to get to Lex and Voos book. It was good to learn more about Voo's past. Lex and Voo was different what I mean is--you get a know a character throughout the books but when it gets to their book, it's like you don't know them at all. I loved the characters and as always Pretty Boy shines. Highly recommend

Bullies to being unwanted sucks being time especially from your own parents & love interest so why not head to where you friend is in the Big Easy and feel wanted for a change until that friendship wasn’t all together truthful… there’s a reason why Lex’s best friend is from the same town Voo is from….

Love this series!!

Lexi is putt through so much in this book but she finally finds out what she's made of, and where she belongs. Voo is all kinds of messed up but even he deserves love and happiness. A Hell of a ride!

excellent story, as always

Another page turner, I couldn’t put down. OMG how hard did Voo fight to give Lex, what he thought was best for her? I really felt for Lex, she went through some horrific times before she earned her HEA.

I enjoyed the characters. I was frustrated at first with how no one was helping Lex out with her "past event", but it got better as the story went on. another good addition to the series.

Hell or High Water was a great 5 star read. Once I started I didn’t want to put it down.
Voodoo is the VP for the Four Horsemen MC.
Lex’s father was the former president of the MC. Her parents definitely did not want her around the MC, too late. She is in love with Voodoo.

These two have such a connection and the age gap (who cares, age is just a #). When things start to come up from his past they start causing problems. Lex also has some issues of her own. Will they be able to work out the problems and get their HEA?

There are some dark elements and some twists and turns. What these two have to deal with will leave you in an emotional mess. The secondary characters were great. This was my first read in the series and I had no trouble reading it. I do have plans to go back and get caught up with this series. Thank you Sara Rayne for a great read.

Eighth book in the Four Horsemen MC series, and the second book written by Sara Rayne (the others written by her sister, Cynthia). Though it can be read as a standalone, it is definitely helpful to have read the rest of the books beforehand.

Since meeting Lex (Captain's daughter) in the second book, I had wondered which MC member she would end up with, and I gotta say, I like her choice (Voodoo). Nothing like a man who not only cooks, but can also accurately assess what you want to eat, and is sexy on top of that. =)

I rather liked the story, and the couple's struggles to work through their problems, both within themselves and each other. The story was fast paced, and took place over several months (so definitely no insta-love here). The main story ties up neatly at the end, but there are also some loose threads left hanging.

With this book, I felt like Sara has begun to hit her stride; while I liked her previous book (Hellbent), I think the writing improved with this one. I am sad to see that this is the final book in the series, but am definitely looking forward to the upcoming spinoff. =)

I am a big fan of this series and have continued to love each new book more than the last. The story of Voodoo has been one I have been hanging out for, so was really excited to finally get his story. Lex and Voodoo have had this attraction for each other for so long however Voodoo fights it all the way because he thinks that he is not good enough for her and that she deserves more in life. As Lex struggles with being an outcast from college and then feeling like she has been cast aside by both her parents she goes to the one person Voodoo who she can rely on only to be pushed away due to his past that haunts him. It takes Lex running to New Orleans and being seen with his old best friend for Voodoo to chase his girl and face his past that he continues to drown in. This book also continues to give us an insight into how Coyote has changed since he was kidnapped and tortured, can't wait for that book. As usual this is a beautifully written story full of strong women and bad ass bikers.

I received Hell or High Water as an ARC in exchange for a honest review. First let me say I have been waiting for Voo's book for a while and it was well worth the wait. This book centers on Voo and Lex dealing with some trauma that Lex has to deal with and Voo's very twisted past. Now I will not be giving out spoilers , but we knew Voo had a past..boy was it a good one.The book will take us to NOLA Voo's former home to deal with Lex and unfortunately the past that Voo hoped to keep buried. The story was well written, there was plenty of drama that flowed well. Of course there was the bits of humor that only the horsemen throw down. The only big difference that people may see from previous books is, there is a bit less sex scenes but make no mistake what there was is hot and worked perfectly for Lex and Voo. It was fun reading about Voo's past and watching Lex grow into strong woman she needed to be. I am having a hard time picking now which book in the series is my favorite, Shep's was my top one but now......I am feeling Voo.

That Voodoo That You Do!!!! Good Stuff!

Well I must say I most definitely got my long over due fix of the FourHorsemen, and boy was it good!I loved that we got to see the back story on who Voodoo actually was and what has haunted him. This was a really good story in that we got to see good girl Lex not only prove she can stand up for herself but she can get her man. There are quite a few tough subjects in this story but forgiveness is a big part, and family. This was easy paced story were you never get a slow moment or a bad one.I love that you are getting glimpses of the other club members and peak into there lives. Now my only ding is that we didn't get that same sparkle from Voodoo and Lex that was missing, the fun of flirting and the anticipation of coming together.Overall I was not disappointed and look forward to more from this club and the Dixie Mafia.

Another great four horsemen mc book.

This is a definite must read, hot men strong women. If you love New Orleans like I do this book shows the strength, smarts and dedication of the great people of new Orleans. Katrina was ruthless, but the people had faith and inner strength to rebuild their lives. The lola's in this book are amazing,in New Orleans they come out to play when you least expect sometimes they offer a boon, but at what price as they say carefully what you ask for. The pale horse riders have a new member can't wait for his book. This book was riveting from beginning to end. Definitely a must read, hot men, strong women and good Friends.

I have loved Voodoo and Lex's story.

It drawn me in to love New Orleans all over again. I want to learn more about its history and what makes the Big Eazy so wonderful.

I adored the passion Lexie and voodoo have for each other and their family.
Another brilliant book and can't wait for more in the series
