Jenna Royal Casebook #1.1

Freedom Square: Part One

Rate this book
Ex-elite agent Jenna Royal will stop at nothing to track down the sister who betrayed her. She will risk her mission... she will risk her life... but will she risk the lives of her team-mates to get justice?

Eastern Europe stands on the brink of a new Russian invasion. Insurgents and fake protesters stir up trouble on the streets and the mighty Russian war machine is poised across the border.

On a mission to stop the protests turning into a bloody invasion, Jenna, Eva and Dan must use every tactic in the book... and even then it may not be enough. Overwhelming odd, conspiracy and a burning desire for revenge work against them at every level.  But if Jenna loses... so will everybody else.

Hello folks,
My name is Solomon Carter, and I am the author of the Roberts and Bradley PI crime thriller series, The Last Line international thriller series, the DI Hogarth Darkest series and more. I write mysteries, crime and thriller novels and more besides.

I was born in Southend, Essex and lived there for most of my life apart from eventful student days in South London. But my life in Southend was even more eventful still. I ended up working in a string of jobs including as a jobcentre clerk, a book seller, tutor for youth with low skills and low self esteem, mortgage broker, and latterly manager of a food bank which dealt with all kinds of interesting people facing all kinds of eye-opening, jaw dropping problems. Because of these ear-to-the-ground jobs the majority of my novels are set in Southend. In 2016 I moved to North Cornwall because I liked the idea of never-ending holidays - but I also write almost every single day. My aim is to write action-packed thrillers and page-turning mysteries that readers love and my hope is to get better at what I do with every book across each and every year.

I like to give away lots of free books as part of what I do. If you would like to receive some of these and get the exclusives on offer, than you're invited to join my free readers group at SolomonCarter.net. I won't spam you, just send the occassional email with news on the latest books and forthcoming freebies.

And if you want to see the memes, personal shares and other oddball stuff I do, then you can join me at Facebook via www.facebook.com/solomoncarterwrites and join the fun there too.

What I am good at: telling stories
What I am bad at: dancing, being patient.
What I love: nature, the seaside, adventures
Writers I heartily recommend: Lee Child, Ian Rankin, Henning Mankell, Val McDermid, Harlan Coben, Robert Crais.
Writers I need to read more of: Val McDermid, Ian Rankin, Michael Connelly and others.
Other things I do beside writing: at present I like to keep my running going to balance out the sitting behind a laptop (a habit inspired by Haruki Murakami's 'What I talk about when I talk about running' - a great book).
-I am currently doing surf lessons. When in Rome, as they say...
-Getting out into nature as the weather allows.

I look forward to hearing from you.
Until then I'll keep on writing. Or running. Or surfing. Or chasing my children around the house.

All the very best,
Solomon :)

PS
if you have enjoyed any of my books, I'd be honoured if you could post a review. Those reviews really do help!

Another series by Solomon Carter which can be read in instalments or as a set of ebooks or on kindle.
Set in Georgia this set of stories have their roots in the influence of Russia in South Ossetia and more recently in and around Ukraine.
Jenna Royal is a maverick ex-agent still fighting for UK interests while personally seeking out her sister Ruby who appears to have gone over to the Russian side.
Too early to judge this latest collection but a promising start and with the writing of Solomon Carter uptodate with the intimacy of it could be on the news tonight or happening somewhere right now and no-one yet knows the unfolding conspiracy / drama.

Being a short read this novella suffered the usual problem, it was over far too quickly. Just as I got to grips with the characters and the plot, it was finished. A good way to entice readers to get the other books in the series. I found this to be well written but not long enough to build any real affinity with any of the characters, although I feel that the main character Jenna Royal will become a very interesting find.

FREEDOM SQUARE by Solomon Carter
Jenna, Eva, Dan are part of a team. Jenna knew everything in Eastern Europe was not what it seemed. Her search was for her sister Ruby, she had betrayed her, but had become a pawn, for Russia. The fall out, the Russian have the new nuclear plans. It was short, the tension is there and one love's the characters. Love his books, and readers liking an international thriller.

Free ebook (search engine string)...

Trying to find a free ebook I haven't taken down yet can be a daunting task. Hopefully when I start paying for titles in a series, there'll be an interesting mix of search results. Books in a boxed set make for such a sizable d'load that it's not worth revving the search engine. Thankfully I'm optimistic enough to look forward to searching through titles.

Entertaining reading
A very will written thriller novella. The characters are interesting. The story line is complicated with lots of misdirection leading to the next novella. I would recommend this novella to anyone who is looking for a quick read. Enjoy reading 2020

I downloaded this thinking it was the full story. Unfortunately it was an excerpt. Which didn't excite me to buy the book.
The heroine seems intent on getting killed before the book gets going and the storyline was a bit jaded. But without the full book I can't really judge.
So not for me . Sorry

Nothing but a leader

This story is nothing but a leader to tempt you to buy a subsequent book.

Not sure it will work as it doesn’t actually say what the next book in the series is called.

There’s not a lot to the book to even comment sensibly on.

A taster

This looks like a good series but costly as in instalments. This author is one of my kindle favourites and if you haven't read any of his books you are missing out

A good short story, I wish that this was a regular book and not a short story.

Tough to suspend disbelief

I got a free sample - 22 pages - through freebooksy. It was intended to entice me to buy the rest. The dialogue and plot felt forced and stiff, while the descriptions never really made me feel like I was there.

A free introduction to another great, fast-paced, page turner from Solomon Carter, featuring familiar characters.

Well worth buying the boxed set.
