1/12/14 ** Will be sharing this with my 4th graders later this week as part of a reflective lesson where we look at our history as readers and set goals for the second half of the year. The lesson idea came from Aimee Buckner in her professional book Notebook Connections.
As a stand-alone book, I'd probably rate this as a 2 or 3 star book. There's little text and the rhythm/pacing doesn't feel quite right. However, as the anticipatory set for our lesson, I think that it leaves off at just the right point for my students to consider both their pasts and futures as members of literate communities.
