A God Sent Kind of Love

Rate this book
Twenty-nine year old Meesha Langston is saved, single and beautiful. Since she's been blessed to have a loving mother and doting god-mother in her life — who both love playing match-maker — she's not at a loss for eligible young men to date.

Meesha is a sweet girl with a heart of pure gold. However, her past experiences in the dating arena have soured her to men — that is unless the man has a professional career with the Armani suits to match.

When Meesha meets personal trainer Andre Ridley, she's pretty much sure that a blue collar brotha' like Andre isn't her type.

Despite Meesha's bias against him, it doesn't take Andre long to see Meesha for the loving, kind, person she really is. He knows that he and Meesha belong together. Problem is, he has to convince her of that fact.

In the end, will he be able to show her that they have a God sent kind of love?

Meesha, the beloved daughter and goddaughter. A generous heart and a beautiful face caught Andre Ridley’s eye. Meesha was not willing to give Andre the time of day, but they kept coincidentally running into each other. Was that divinely orchestrated? Her character is a solid Christian woman trying to live a sanctified life, while waiting in her Boaz. I enjoyed that the author kept the work clean, I don’t like blurring the lines of a saintly life in some situations and a immoral one for others. My one dislike in the novel, and I deducted a star for it. A lack of details was provided about Lydia and the dissolution of her acts. Lydia, a true gold digger just wanted the money and didn’t even like black men. I also appreciate that Andre wasn’t the type of brother that thought his mate had to be a size 0-6.

A God Sent Kind of Love: A Christian Romance Story

The beginning of the storyline started out kind of slow. It took time for the characters to evolve. Meesha had preconceived notice about Andre because of his style of dress and tattoos. Andre was immediately smitten with her at first sight. Their paths cross at her godmother, his aunt’s party. God allowed Meesha to not judge a person on the outside but to get know their heart as well. What God puts together let no one try to separate.

A God Sent Kind of Love checks all of the boxes of a wholesome, clean romance. We have Andre and Meesha who meet coincidentally a few times prior to dating and subsequently falling in love. He was a personal trainer, and she a successful transcriptionist. I really liked her job as it's not the usual advertising exec or baker profession that we often see in so many romance novels.

Meesha judges Andre harshly when they first meet based on his appearance. There is a reason, and we find out why during the course of the story. Also Andre's thugged-out, tatted-up appearance is something from his bad boy, womanizing past. He has recently been saved in the last few years.

There is a villain, and I couldn't help but laugh whenever she was in a scene, and she adjusted her fake boobs, talking about how Andre was *her* man.

There was a beautiful night sky scene. And Andre's younger brother was funny trying out his burgeoning "mack" skills on Meesha.

As with other Nikki Smith books, I appreciate how the characters view their obstacles and problems through the lens of their faith. For example, this is from Andre's POV: "Andre knew that they served a powerful God...He knew if they kept their hands in the Lord's hand God would make them both whole."

Beautiful lesson I can apply to my life too.

Beautiful story

What a really enjoyable romantic story of two people that had reservations about dating. The characters were clearly defined and had no reservations of expressing their faith. I loved the issue about the "thug" clothing being a false perception.

Meesha Langton is a saved, single young lady whose mom and god mother plays match-making for her. Meesha is afraid to get into a relationship because of her ex-boyfriend. Meesha is attracted to Andre Riley, but afraid to seek him out due to the way he dresses and carries himself. Andre is the nephew of Meesha’s godmother.

I enjoyed this story. It just went to prove that you can't always judge a person by the physical but by what's inside. I was happy that Meesha didn't let her past keep her away from a good future & her happy ever after.
