a classic of its genre!! i love the local ghost story books and my dad picked this one up for me in colonial williamsburg, and i was not disappointed! i love the historical asides about the actual people involved. the right amount of supernatural stories, researched histories, and local charm!!
It was good. It was about colonial Williamsburg which I had visited almost 4 years ago. I had done a ghost walk and then found out more information about the ghosts and spirits that are located there. It’s an informal book.
2.5 roundsed up stars. the asides should've been at the end of each chair instead of the middle including the pictures that constantly interrupted sentences. took me out of the stories. the ending was written way better. and even a few stories that spooked and interested me throughout but a few that bored me to no end as well. it was a weird ride of emotions.
It won't win any Pulitzer Prize, but this book was written for me. I love how ghost stories bring in the history of ordinary people who don't land in the history books.
It's also labeled as a Ghost Walk Companion. We're planning a trip to Colonial Williamsburg and I wanted to test to see if I thought it would be too scary for the youngest of our party. Yes, too scary for my 10 year old who struggles with what is real and what is pretend. No ghost walk. I'm going to read the other one in the set, too: Ghosts Among Us.
