Lucinda is on her way home after a long stay in France. She never had a close bond with her father, so she isn't looking forward to be home again. On the evening of her return, her father introduces her to a mean man she's supposed to marry. After being assaulted by her appointed fiancé she seeks refuge at the home of a childhood friend. Lucinda soon realizes that the man living in this house is not the friend she once knew, but someone else. Someone who has secrets to keep and battles to fight.
Lucinda lost her heart to this man, who was there for her in her time of need. Will she be able to love him forever when she finds out what he truly is?

A war is at hand between the vampires and a dark warlock. It's a rule that women shouldn't be turned into vampires, but Lucinda is a force to be reckoned with, even as a human. She's being sent into Traitor's Gate to retrieve two princes, who have been captured by the warlock. The warlock has a lot of tricks up his sleeve and he even has zombies to prevent anyone from getting to the princes. The elders have made a promise that if Lucinda makes it out alive she can be turned. Will a mere human be able to survive Traitor's Gate and get the princes back to safety?

Traitor's Gate is a terrifying short story about vampires, zombies and warlocks. Lucinda knows that she has found her soul mate and she'd do anything to stay by his side. I love the idea of meeting each other in every single lifetime. Traitor's Gate is filled with action and unexpected twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. The story is part of the Battle of the Undead series and would be perfect as an introduction to the rest of the books. Nicky Peacock is very skilled at delivering fantastic creepiness and I absolutely loved this series.

A lot of promise for future stories.

I really enjoyed the premise that this book set up. A lot happens in a short amount of time, and some of the events aren’t believable, but for such a short story the characters are engaging and the created world shows a lot of promise for future stories.

Prequel to Bad Blood.

The story of how Lucinda (Britannia) and Nicholas met, fell in love, and battled a zombie horde. Like you do.

What a fantastic novella! A well rounded read full of mystery, intrigue, romance and horror as we encounter zombies and vampires and even an enchanter. Characters are strong and the world building pulled me into the novella. I now must read book one!!

This is a great intro into how Britannia and Nicholas came about. If you've read Bad Blood you know get more insight into how these two have so much feelings for one another . A great short story!
