What do you do when right becomes wrong?

Cam Winters has been known as the guy who dates the new women at church--and then ends the relationship quickly. He's never talked about his past, about life before he became a Christian.

But Jordan Foster has learned to look past all of that. Cam's a strong, caring man--a man she can see herself with. He's also a man who refuses to ask her out for fear of what her brother, one of his closest friends, might say.

So Jordan takes things into her own hands.

When Cam admits to sharing her feelings, the two fall quickly in love--just as that past that Cam won't ever talk about returns for Cam and those he cares for, a group which now includes Jordan.

The best bit about 'Taken' is that it is about the characters in 'Kept' and it has a pretty cover. But although I was predisposed to like Jordan and Cam, their romance lacked the spark of Dillan's and Miska's. This romantic suspense novella is really much more about the mystery of Cam's past and the danger surrounding it. The issue that gets raised is interesting but I don't know that I fully engaged here. This is a quick easy read so enjoyable in that sense. I think it is about time Garrett gets his own novel though. And I would recommend you read 'Kept' first.

I am not a huge novella person, well, let's rephrase that. I generally dislike novellas. So, for me to rate a novella very high, is unusual. This one my Sally Bradley, even though it was short, hits the mark.
She does not shy away from hard topics. I would not pick this one up and expect that because it is a novella, it going to be light and fluffy. It is the whole package! I loved seeing some of the other characters from Kept again as well. One caution, abortion, surrogacy, and violence are mentioned in this book. They are tastefully handled, without a lot of details, but mentioned.

This was a quick novel with some interesting characters from the novel Kept which I greatly enjoyed. I didn't feel as connected with these characters, maybe because the action occurred only over several days. Cam's secret was interesting but I didn't find the bad guy's motivation to be sufficient for his actions.

I read this novel as part of the Smoke and Mirrors collection.

This is a companion novella to Kept. I enjoyed the characters. Cam is a great guy who has sacrificed a lot for his sister. Now it's his turn for happiness and he knows what he wants.

Jordan is very mature for her age. As with Kept, there isn't a whole lot of misunderstandings, and when there are, they are cleared up quickly. The characters speak honestly together, telling the truth in love.

My only complaint is that I wish it were longer so the romance didn't seem so rushed.
I hope to read more from this author in the future.

Book Review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

# 43 Indie Author

Book: Taken
Author: Sally Bradley

Last year I tried a lot of indie authors. When I picked up Kept by Sally Bradley, I couldn’t have guessed it would end up being one of my favorite books of the year.

I was bummed when I found out that she'd only written three books, but excited when I realized one of them was a novella centered on a character from Kept.

I wanted to love Taken, and I did really like it, but like every novella, it ended too soon and the story felt too fast. Although I liked Cam and Jordan and there story, I definitely wasn't invested like I was with Miska and Dillon from Kept.

The story focuses on a notorious bachelor who thinks he's found the "one" in his best friend's younger sister but he must first divulge a deep dark secret.

Overall it was good, I'm actually really bummed that this indie author appears to no longer be writing. I hope she makes a return someday.

Cam & Jordan have built a friendship over the last four years as she is the sister of Cam's best friend, but what happens when both feel something more for one another. Will Cam be able to get over the fear of sharing his secret and how will Jordan react? Just like the previous book, Kept, Bradley once again covers a tough subject - Abortion and surrogacy rights. I found that the way this subject is addressed challenged the reader to think about what they believe to be right and why. I really enjoyed getting to know Jordan and Cam, they seemed to fit really well together. Story moves fast keeping your interest the whole time. I would definitely recommend this one.

This is part of the Smoke and Mirrors Romantic Suspense Collection. I have been highly anticipating Bradley's novella featuring characters from her previous novel Kept. And I was not disappointed! I loved jumping right back in with the cast from Kept, and seeing Cam & Jordan's story play out. Not to mention seeing how things have progressed with Miska & Dillan!

This was the perfect dose, for me, of romance & suspense. I loved zipping through Taken! I am eager to see what Bradley has for us next!

Taken is an excellent little novella, with plenty of suspense, intrigue, mystery and a sweet romance.
I have not read anything yet by this author, but I plan to. My interest was engaged from the very beginning. I love it when that happens. I enjoyed it very much.

*I was given a copy of this book by the author. I was not pressured to leave a positive review and my thoughts are my own.

As far as novellas go, this was a pretty good one. Cam is nearly 10 years older than Jordan, I'm much younger sister of one of his best friends. He's known her for years and has hung out with her for years, but suddenly both of them find their very attracted to each other.
But Cam has a secret and he feels it isn't safe to share it as it involves the safety of someone he loves and who is running for her life.
Jordan is brought into this story and very supportive. But, of course, things get complicated and danger is lurking.
Good story.

I enjoyed Cam and Jordan's story! This novella is packed with all the feel goods. Secrets, betrayal, murder make for an page-turner of a story!

I recommend this novella to those who enjoy compelling romances.

I borrowed a copy through Kindle Unlimited. All views expressed are my honest opinion.

A little disappointed on how short this book was. I felt like it was just thrown together. I would have liked to hear more about Cam and Jordan as friends. I also feel like Jordan's past with Matt was vague. I wanted to go deep like the book Kept did.

Another good story.

I really enjoyed this storyline and the mystery woven through it. I was sad it was shorter than the first one I read by this author but still good. I am looking forward to reading more by Ally in the near future.

Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy this book as much as Kept. I admit, I tend to shy away from books with less than 300 pages and I knew going in that this was a short story. The characters and story itself were good but a full length book would have done more justice. It also ended a bit abruptly 😕

TAKEN, though just a novella, is still packed full of action and romance.

Jordan Foster and Cameron Winters have one thing in common—Dillan Foster. Dillan is Jordan’s older brother and Cameron’s best friend. That is enough to discourage Cameron from acting on his feelings for Jordan, that and their ten-year age gap. Though he thinks Jordan is amazing, there is plenty about him she doesn’t know. No one knows. And Cameron isn’t sure it’s a good idea to involve Jordan in the messiness of his personal life.

Jordan know Cam has reservations about dating her, but she doesn’t see the problem. He’s a great guy, with a good head on his shoulders, and she’s known him for years. Other than his reputation for dating the “new girl” at church, then dumping her after a couple weeks, Jordan is sure they are meant for each other.

Surprised that Jordan has already gotten the green light from her brother, Cam decides to take a chance. He slowly lets her in on the secret he has kept from everyone, and the serious repercussions if his secret was to get out. Not discouraged in the least, Jordan stands with Cam and promises to help in any way she can. Thankful to finally have someone he can talk to, Cam’s love for Jordan grows. Then, his darkest fear becomes a reality, putting everyone he loves—including Jordan—in danger.

Like I said before, lots of action packed in 139 pages. Though the characters in TAKEN are crossovers from the novel KEPT, it reads quite well as a standalone. The pacing of course is ramped up in order for it to fit in a novella format which was both good and bad. Good—because I loved getting right to the point. My biggest pet peeve is when romance novels keep the main love interest apart until the end of the book. However, the bad—was that Jordan and Cam’s journey went by so fast. Nevertheless, the good far outweighed the bad.

If you haven’t already read KEPT by Sally Bradley, you must pick it up! It is an amazing story that transcend the framework of most Christian romance books. Then, once you are done with KEPT, read the face-paced TAKEN and fall in love with Jordan and Cameron.

Bonus feature: An excerpt from Sally’s next book, HOMESTANDS is included in TAKEN. It will whet your appetite for the first installment in the Chicago Wind series.

Nice quick follow up to Kept. Fast paced, easy read that brings some of the characters of Kept to the forefront with the main characters in the background.

This is not much of a story. Probably 1.5 stars but I took off some because of the incorrect and insulting to my intelligence propaganda.

For the record I read Kept first and although it pushes a type of Christianity I do not agree with I could still read about characters who do follow that faith and enjoy their story. I was looking forward to Jordan and Cam's story. I was quite disappointed that it was a rather dull story with neither main character having any depth. And as a treatise on reproductive rights and responsibilities it fails to make a strong enough case to make anyone change their mind. Plus there are several untruths put forward. It might be an okay read for people who believe Pro-Choice means "it is good to have an abortion whenever the baby is an inconvenience to the bio father".

"I can't explain her to you right now, Jordan. Someday I hope to. But for now I need you to trust me."

Not exactly what Jordan Foster wanted to hear from her newly acquired best- friend- turned -boyfriend. It seems that Cam Winters has some pretty big secrets, and apparently he is not willing to share them. What could have possibly happened in this man's life to explain this kind of secrecy? And what does it mean for their future?

Cam Winters has protected his family at all cost, and it has cost him . . . . friends, relationships, and income, but it has been worth every effort to ensure their safety. Did he do the right thing bringing Jordan into his very tight circle? In all honesty, she has owned his heart for quite some time. Will she understand? Is he putting her life in danger? What will her family think? Cam can only pray that the God in whom he has recently placed his faith will do impossibly more than he can ask or think.

Enjoy this very intriguing story filled with unexpected twists and turns, sinister characters, and sweet inspirational romance. Quite the blend!

I so enjoyed Kept and came to this novella sequel with great expectations. Jordan and Cameron are a very likeable duo who have known each other for a while, Jordan being Dillan's baby sister and Cameron, a good buddy of he and his brother, Garrett. There is a ten year age difference which has bothered Cameron and Jordan has always felt he is holding back revealing much of his past.

Until the past suddenly and unexpectedly intrudes upon their friendship. What eventuates is a story where we get a front row seat on how the two's relationship develops amongst the challenges this intervention places upon them.

I enjoyed meeting Jordan and Cameron and as another reviewer has stated there probably was enough content to make this a full novel. The suspense-angle was intriguing as we enter the world of surrogacy but didn't really create sufficient tension until the final chapter. I put this down to the fact Bradley was working towards a novella length story.

I'm pleased I read this Kept-novella and I look forward to reading more of Sally Bradley's work.

this title is the same from my favourite author Dee Henderson. This is a novella book in a collection of romantic suspense called Smoke and Mirrors. Cam n Jordan's story.. Dillion n Miska characters from Sally's book "Kept" (which I don't remember/recall as its been awhile) are here and I do like catching up with old familiar names. Sally has a style that has another perspective take on things which is good. As the story unravelled you got to see the mystery of a third party involved as the villain. This story bordered on the "trust factor" we have of people in their field of work n the deceptive motives/power that can happen.
The other authors in this collection are new to me n I will read there work soon. How about reading this collection too n the price was good also!

Taken is suppose to follow Kept with the story of Jordan but the Jordan of this book doesn't really resemble the Jordan of Kept. She seems much younger and move naïve. Also in the book Kept Jordan was engaged to Matt but in Taken Matt was just an on and off boyfriend. For a story that was to be a follow up it lacks the continuity that would be important.
I loved Kept so I was really looking forward to reading Taken and am sorry to say it disappointed. I have not given up on Sally Bradley and just order her next full length novel called Homestands. I will always give an author another chance if I really liked a previous story and I did think that Kept was excellent.

I read this novella as part of the Smoke and Mirrors collection, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is an edge of the seat suspense filled story with wonderful characters combined with faith and romance that certainly kept me reading. I was given a copy of the collection in return for an honest review, and I would give more than a 5 star review for this story and the collection if I could.

A great love story and part of the Smoke and Mirrors collection, too. You can't go wrong with either one. Characters are strong, godly and trying to do the right thing. Highly recommend. I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Sally Bradley is no shrinking violet. I love the way she takes on the hard topic of Abortion in her book, Taken. She shows her Christianity in her writing and gives more reasons to think of our actions/stands on this subject matter. Good read.

Taken was a great mix of romance and mystery. For a novella,it was a satisfyingly full-rounded story with great characters. I loved watching Jordan and Cam's story as it unfolded, and look forward to reading more of Ms. Bradley's work.
