Leah Hamilton’s wedding bells rang in an epic disaster. In six hours she was wed, betrayed, arrested and kissed blind and stupid by the one man she’s sworn to avoid: her brother’s best friend, ex-Special Forces soldier and Pytheon boss Seth Halcott, who’s raised her pulse for years. It was just one hot kiss from a man who lived across the world but two weeks later Seth returns and moves in as protection when Leah is targeted in the cross hairs of an international criminal bent on revenge.
Seth Halcott tells himself that Leah Hamilton is just a job, but she’s always been his Achilles heel. The brainy beauty with the feisty mouth has always tempted him to ditch his single status, but while Leah may feel like the one, she’s definitely off limits. He’s only back in her life to ensure her safety and spearhead the biggest bust of his life. Though it’s hard to stay focused when the woman starring in his dreams and sexual fantasies sleeps in the next room…
Leah and Seth discover that danger can be a powerful and passionate aphrodisiac, but will they be surprised to discover it can also lead to love?
The Pytheon Security series Book 1: Claimed by the Warrior Book 2: His Toughest Call
Joss Wood loves books and travelling— especially to the wild places of Southern Africa and, well, anywhere.
She’s a wife, a mom to two teenagers, and is bossed around by two cats and a Great Dane X the size of a baby cow. After a career in local economic development, she now writes full time.
After one monumentally disastrous wedding day that ended with her being arrested and kissed stupid by Seth Halcott, Leah Hamilton is definitely left dazed and confused. Getting on with her life is hard but she's doing it...that is until Seth returns and turns her world upside down. Again. Seth might tell himself that Leah is off limits and he's only in her life to protect but the truth is he wants her. Bad! She might be the one but will he go after what he wants?
Seth Halcott must face his past to gain control of his future. He is back in Cape Town tracking down a man they call the recruiter, who recruits teens into cults or whatever else suits his needs.
Leah Hamilton, Seth's best friend’s sister, gets caught up in the case he is working on when the recruiter sees how important Leah is to Seth. The recruiter will use Leah to get to Seth.
While working together, Seth and Leah have an unplanned affair. Seth knows he is not good for any woman and definitely not good for Leah. While Leah knows Seth will leave one day, she can't help hoping he might be willing to settle down with her. Will Seth and Leah be able to overcome all of the obstacles that stand in their way?
I enjoyed seeing Seth and Leah's love for each other bloom and how they fought for each other regardless of everything that stood in their way. Overall, this is a good story, but it did end with a cliffhanger.
Decent plot line, but the action is interspersed with long periods of character self-introspection and self-admonishment, and overall, much of it is immaterial to the story. In addition, the writer needs to keep a record of what the characters look like, how old the characters are, their names and spellings of their names, etc. There were so many instances where the author made glaring mistakes, and it just smacks of poor editing and poor writing. I bought the other two books in the series simply because I wanted to see how the plot line was carried out, but if they hadn’t been so inexpensive, I wouldn’t of bothered. These are books you get from the library, not books that you buy.
His Toughest Call by Joss Wood is a romantic thriller set in Cape Town South Africa. This story pits sexy special ops agent Seth and Leah, his best friend's sister, against an unseen criminal mastermind. The story has all the necessary elements of a good thriller including a kidnapping, and a body in Leah's swimming pool, but while it was quite an enjoyable read I found the plot pretty predictable for the most part and a tad convoluted at the end.
I'm going to be generous and give this story 3 stars, but it has a lot of shortcomings. The editing effort is sorely lacking. Too many 'typos' and misused words. IE; prosperity when it should have been posterity. And while the characters are believable, they're kinda boring. The back and forth of why he can't be with her got monotonous and ending being anti-climatic. I feel no urge to continue this series as I prefer savoring my reading time and not spending it skimming.
Not bad. Not as good as book one tho. I still liked the characters, and the plot was fairly easy to see coming, but the relationship was all but identical to bk1. 'We want to, but we can't, but we know we will eventually, and we know it will be a one shot deal, but then we will again, and then we def need to stop, but look, we could all along.'
Bk3 isn't out yet, but I will probably have a look at it before I decide if I'm willing to pay for it.
Second book in this series. Gotta say, wow! Thrilling, intriguing, sexy as hell. This story tugged at my soul in despair and had my heart skipping beats at the danger. Great story, however the first few pages had me confused as to what was going on, but I believe it's because I didn't read the first book. So, so glad I kept reading because I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Terrible story line...characters were lackluster. Poorly written spelling and grammar errors. Her father is a high ranking military man and her brother was a securities expect. Yet, FMC was constantly putting herself in danger. She went to lunch with a strange man because he said he was MMCs father. (Who does that?) She went to the worst part of town to pick up a friend ALONE at 3am from a sex party. (Turned out to be an ambush, good thing MMC was there.)

Seth has never been good at love, but can his best friend sister change his mind? The 2nd book in the series follows Seth and Jed's sister as The Recruiter surfaces and decides that its time for Seth to go. Will him and Leah survive or will The Recruiter get what he wants?
This series is getting more and more intriguing with each book. Getting to know the characters and becoming invested in them is enjoyable. Looking forward to reading the next book
Loved this book series. Strong leading alpha men with equally strong female companions. I didn't read them in order but was still able to follow along and enjoyed each book. Lots of action, suspense and good steamy sex scenes.
This was a great read, loved the tension between them, they both wanted more but knew once that line was crossed it couldn't be uncrossed. I would recommend reading the first book to get a better understanding of the underlying issues, but it is not necessary.
Hard to read with all the typos. Needs serious editing. Plot is good, romance is okay. Ending is a bit unbelievable. Author uses too much introspection. Dialogue works better and more effective in telling the story.
This is an exciting security romance that has you Turing page after page to the very end. He's in love with his best friends little sister. She just married someone else. This us a great read. But beware if the language it's a but saucy.
Seth and Leah have both been scared of starting a relationship together. Seth is her brother's friend. When he realizes that need each other they have to make some decisions.
I found the beginning a bit slow. I wasn’t feeling the characters but about halfway through it became a much better book. I was connecting with the characters and looked forward to see what was going to happen. It was a very nice ending.
His Toughest Call by Joss Wood: 5 stars Seth/Leah. This story is well written, with a nice balance between the edge of your seat danger, and the evolving, forbidden feelings. Also, well developed characters, a nice pace, and a good storyline! —PTators
Great story, but the editing is really bad. Best you fire your editor so many mistakes all the way through the book. Words missing. Words where they shoudn't be, Sentences that didn't make any sense. But as I said great story
This book is a wonderful example of what readers of romance mysteries love! A mixture of every human emotion you can feel in life! It had just enough romance and sex, along with the mystery aspect of the book! Loved it!
Seth and Leal was about denial, half of the book is the way they deny the feelings these two characters have and feel for each other. Great characters and story line.
