الكتب الدراسية كمقدمة في العلوم السياسية كثيرة، ماأعجبني في هذا الكتاب أنه من البداية لايريد (تعليمك) العلوم السياسية، بل كيف (تفكر) فيها.
الكاتب يقوم بذلك من خلال طريقين:
الأول التعريف على الايدولوجيات السياسية الرئيسية وكيف تتفكر مل منها في السياسة والحكم.
الثاني: التعريف بالطرق البحثية الرئيسية للتفكير بشكل منهجي في القضايا السياسية.
يتم هذا في أول ثلاث فصول من الكتاب، بعد هذه الفصول يقوم الكاتب بتطبيق هذا على القضايا التى يناقشها: كيف تعاملت الايدولوجيات معها، وكيف يمكن لنا أن نفسر بشكل منهجي علمي بعض الحالات الدراسية داخل هذا الموضوع.
الكاتب في أغلب الاحيان يحاول أن يقدم أراء متوازنه، أنا لا اعرفه شخصيا ولم أقرأ له من قبل، لكني أظنه أميل إلى الايدولوجيا الليبرالية الاجتماعية وظهر هذا في أكثر من مكان. في القضايا التى تخص العالم العربي والاسلامي، التناول كان جيد إلى حد مابدون تحيزات واضحة ضد هذه القضايا.
انصح به لم يريد تعلم كيف يفكر في القضايا السياسية.
