The mark of outstanding leadership is not just about how good a leader you are, but about how many leaders you develop. In The Living Leader Penny Ferguson shows that leadership is not a privilege for a chosen few but extends to everyone throughout any organisation. It is about realizing the potential of every individual. Penny's new book shows how individuals can discover and develop new attitudes to motivation, communication and leadership.
This book touched on all the things I believe a leader should be.
1) positive 2) influential 3) committed to goals and people
One of the things I will take away from this is the point it made about people always waiting to "get" something, rather than asking themselves how to "give". This is such a key and dramatic change to daily approach.
A brilliant read, very inspiring and really makes you think about being the best leader you can be. Doing the PLP programme is an added bonus and something I highly recommend. In the meantime I want to purchase this book for everyone in my team!
