In the dead of night, James Kilburn struggles ashore near Dublin with an enormous cocaine haul; later, Ashley Naughton leaves a city nightclub owned by lowlife Vinnie York. Both vanish. Notorious Dublin criminal Patric York arrives from Holland to investigate his missing haul. The heat is on, particularly for his son Vinnie and for Patrick's longtime cohort Edward Naughton, father of Ashley. Rookie detectives Sarah Kenny and John Quigley are called in by the missing girl's mother. As fears grow for Ashley, they must piece together a dangerous puzzle—and try to dodge the bullets. Would Edward Naughton sacrifice his own daughter to keep ahead of a multimillion-euro industry? And why, just when they're getting somewhere, does their client call off the search?
So this is actually the first in the QuicK Investigations Series and unintentionally I am reading it third whoops. However each book stands alone as a story mostly so they're easy to read no matter what way you pick them up.
This is actually one of my favourites of Hunts books. The storyline is so gripping I couldn't stop thinking about it when I wasn't reading and I was dying to get to the end to see what would happen. Sarah and John are much more narky with eachother in this book but it kind of resolves itself in the end.
Once again I loved the Irish emphasis in the books it was great to read a thriller based in Ireland so early in the year. Cheered me right up! Love this author want more of her books right now!
A fast-paced, exhilarating mystery starring two young Dublin private investigators Sarah Kenny and John Quigley, who are hired by a fearful and wealthy mother to find her missing 18-year-old daughter. At the same time, a man smuggling ashore a huge haul of cocaine disappears. Which of many crime bosses--waning, established, aspiring--is responsible, solely or in unexpected combinations? The more Sarah and John investigate, the more they are drawn into the dark web of Dublin crime. And then the mother calls off the search...
Started off well with the suspense. Main characters and even the mystery well-built ... then it just became a mad toppling of cards instead of proper untangling of a mystery! Bah ...
