Julie has the "second sight" and feels like an outsider...until her gift helps her save her own father's life. Julie is known as the odd child in the family, the sensitive one who sees or hears or smells what others do not. Usually this makes her feel like an outsider - to all but her Granny, who also has the Gift. But when her senses pick up that her father is in danger, Julie trusts her intuition enough to break the rules, take her father's horse and race to his rescue.

Another Scholastic book order read. Although I have not read the book for almost 25 years, I have vivid recollections of parts of it. I loved "Julie" so much when I was 11 that I actually faked the author's autograph, along with a personalized inscription, in pencil in my childish cursive. I think that's enough of an endorsement of the book, which I still have. A few years ago, I met Cora Taylor, and brought my copy for her to really sign. Needless to say, my fake inscription got a lot of laughs.

Cora Taylor an awarded author of multiple books was granted the CLA Book of the year for Children in 1985 for the book, Julie. This book was written for children and would be categorized as a children fictional book. The book is based on Julie, a child with special gifts that struggles to fit in with her family and friends as she tries to explain her visions. As Julia grows up, she finds herself learning whom she could trust and when to explain her thoughts. One strength of this book is that Julia represents each and every one of us. She is a character that has a special talent and is trying to fit in her environment, just as we all do in our daily lives. On the other hand, this book leaves the audience wondering and questing what will happen to Julia. This book is inspiring and has meaningful messages that children would appreciate. I would highly recommend this for children in grades 5-8. If you enjoy a meaningful book are creating lessons for young children, this book will be touching and would help student understand the meaning of respect and individuality.

This book won the Canadian library association book of the year for children, the Canadian council children’s literature prize for best English language book and writers guild of Alberta best children’s book award. That is pretty good for a book written in 1985.

This is a chapter book so it’s easy reading for children around grade six.
It’s about a little girl who lives on a farm in Alberta and she can see the past and the future .

People don’t believe her at first and until events start to affect people around her.

This book is fast paced and kept my interest.
I think young readers would enjoy it too.

I read this a hundred years ago (not really), and loved it, although the sequel, the name of which eludes me, is hideous, inappropriate and horrible.

Julie is 10, and has always been very different. She has psychic abilities, and can see the past and the future. This story of her struggles to understand her gift, and the differences between her and "normal" kids is beautifully written and wonderful.

I picked this up for a quick read to get my mind off my pre-exam jitters. I remember really having liked it as a child. As an adult, I marvel at how much content has made its way into these 115 pages. What a story!
I read it many times when I was young, but it has never made me cry before. You'd think I would have more composure as an adult, but the ending brought tears to my eyes.
Four stars: I really liked it.

I loved reading this when I was a kid, and had thought that I remembered most of the story. Needless to say, that wasn't the case, I had forgotten the second half of the book. I really enjoyed rereading and will probably start to reread more books I read as a child.

I read this book as a child and the ending stayed with me until I re-read it now. This novella is beautiful. Julie is endearing, the story is whimsical, and I was filled with such hope after reading it. Although it is children's literature, I would recommend it for any age.

Why is this not better known? Seriously so good. Loved every minute of it. Excellent recommendation from my sister Kayli who goes out of her way to find forgotten gems.

I've read this for the third time since I was a child, and it is still great.

Very relatable, heart-rending and beautiful.

I love Julie--the beautiful, gripping writing that pulls me into Julie's story and doesn't let me go until the book is finished. I love Julie's strength of character, her goodness, and her paranormal talents. This is one of my go-to books for escape, encouragement, and fantasy reading.

A gift from my older sister when I was young. Every time I've read it over the years, I've liked it as much or more than before. Really interesting story and well told.
