A woman who has lost everything she loved. A dangerous secret that someone will do whatever is necessary to keep buried. The ER staff called Clare Thibodeaux the “Ice Lady”. No one knew the reason why she wouldn’t let anyone get close to her. On one hectic night, the victim of a vicious attack is brought in by ambulance. When she discovers the patient is a friend from her past life, she is devastated. It was the first of a violent series of events, and the only connection between all of them is Clare. Fearing for her life, she leaves as a hurricane spirals off the coast, but Clare’s storm is only beginning. Fleeing to the Apostle Islands in northern Wisconsin, she goes into hiding with the help of family friends. Two men vie for her affection -- a passionate FBI agent and a Navy SEAL with a questionable past -- and Clare must decide who she can trust with her heart and with her life. If you are a fan of action-packed stories with plenty of danger and romantic intrigue, you’ll love Exodus. .
Kate McGinn credits her Irish heritage for her love of storytelling. Since she was a young girl, she was a voracious reader, and her parents scolded her for "always having her head in a book". Over the years, Kate has worked as a registered nurse; served as an officer in the Army Reserves; owned a Bed & Breakfast and spent several years living in Italy. All of these life experiences have provided inspiration for her stories. Exodus is her first full-length novel. The second book in the Clare Thibodeaux Series is Winter's Icy Caress with a projected publication date of May 2017. Kate and her husband have two adult sons, and they live near the Mississippi River in Wisconsin.
I found Exodus to be a great read. It certainly had plenty of action from start to finish. The storyline was fantastic with characters that were very well woven into the story. I am now reading Kate McGinn's second book "Winter's Ice Caress", I give Exodus 5 stars. And Highly recommended.
Exodus is the first fast paced action book in the Clare Thibodeaux series written by author Kate McGinn. Looking forward to reading more about this character.
An excellent read. I have and will continue to recommend this story to everyone I know. I especially enjoyed the ups and downs of emotions throughout this fun read. Outstandingly well written.
Kate McGinn's debut novel Exodus had me gripped all the way through. From the dramatic opening as Claire flees from her home, through to the unexpected ending (no spoilers) this book kept me entertained. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
Exodus in a murder mystery with an unforgettable woman we know as Clare. From the beginning of the book she is placed in harms way as her way of life is shattered, and she goes on the run for her life. The book keeps you on the edge of suspense and the pages turning. Kate McGinn also knows when to allow you to take a breath of air before you're surprised with another clue. You never know who to trust, and you won't figure out who's behind the murders until the author unfolds the plot. A book that is hard to put down. Never a dull moment and a pace that will make you lose sleep. I highly recommend it.
Still recovering from a tragic loss, Clare Thibodeaux is attempting to live a normal life. But dark forces shatter her peace and compel her to flee. “Exodus” is a cross-genre work, combining the elements of a romance novel with that of a thriller, making it a good introductory piece for readers who are unacquainted with either story type. Well written and detailed, it is also the first in a series centering on the adventures of this strong female protagonist.
Excellent book. Fast paced. Just what I needed to pass the time while weathering the storm (Irma) and awaiting our power to get turned back on. Highly recommended!
This book is a quick read, not because it’s short, but because I couldn’t put it down. It’s a good story and is told well. The history of the main character comes out piecemeal so you’re not overwhelmed with scene setting but it still happens quickly enough that you know what is going on. The mystery unravels at a pace which keeps you hooked without becoming annoying or tedious. You don’t know who to trust, right up to the very end. I can’t wait to read more by this author.
I despise those who try to blame everything in the world on those who would defend the Constitution and then blow it totally out of proportion while ignoring actual violent riots by the liberal fringe. Won’t be buying any more of this authors books.
Exodus is an action-packed and heartwarming story about a nurse who finds herself in the midst of a conflict between her late father and the enemies he'd made in his line of work. Clare Thibodeaux is a brave, headstrong young heroine with a caring heart. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
I rated high because its seldom that an author of her first book can keep me going. This has me hooked from the first. It's all there. Romance, and mayhem. Murder and excitement. It's all here I loved it
This book kept you on your toes until the end. It had more twist and turns. Loved the love triangle. Can't wait to read the next book and see how the romantic connections between the two main characters develops.
This is a tedious romance with a mystery attached. The plot is completely implausible and the romance stuff just irritating - it's not of interest to me but I don't think that's entirely why I hated it - 1 character behaves so inconsistently that he comes across as mentally ill and yet he supposedly has a responsible job in law enforcement. The heroine is cut from the same cloth as B-movie horror scream queens - "I'm in danger from unknown enemies so I'll go on a hunting trip in the middle of nowhere with someone I have just met". Good plan - what could possibly go wrong? I found the denouement particularly ludicrous - I almost laughed out loud at it. It is also poorly edited - she uses might and sight when she means mite and site and there were too many of these errors or they were so glaring that I was keeping note of them.
